The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently at first; however, the failure was occurring more often. The contact stated that the failure was related to Manufacturer Communication Number: A16-002 (Electrical System). The contact had not taken the vehicle to be diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

The vehicle has an issue with the charging system which has persisted for at least 1year. The vehicle is unsafe to drive because once the battery has low charge, power steering fails and ultimately the car dies/cuts off (which has happened to me while on a public road at least twice). The vehicle has been checked out by my mechanic numerous times but the issue has never been remedied. The alternator (replaced twice), electronic load detector, battery sensor and battery sensor connector have all been replaced. Wiring has also been inspected but there were no problems to report. A check charge system warning stays on, and sometimes the battery light illuminates. I have seen countless complaints about the same issue regarding the 9th generation honda accord online but the dealer does not acknowledge the issue exists in many of these particular model.

Failure of keyless remote system - Honda Service Bulletin 13-038 System will not respond to keyless remotes and eventually will disable car ignition system. This is a safety for several reasons: 1. The doors can only be opened using the key which is embedded in the keyfob. In case of emergency or for people with disabilities, this is a huge problem. 2. The trunk cannot be accessed unless the door is opened and the trunk released manually inside. There is no key lock to access the trunk from outside the vehicle. 3. The panic button will not function on the keyfob. 4. The car will not start unless the keyfob is placed next to the driver's dash. Eventually, the car will not start at all and the occupants will be stranded. This is a huge issue. The vehicle has been inspected by a Honda dealer and a ticket opened with Honda. Honda now states that they will not help with repairs as the vehicle is past warranty.

The car will intermittently lose power steering all of the sudden and jerk the car to the right. On other occasions the car will automatically steering right at a stand still. It is believed to be either electrical or mechanical but involving the EPS and rack and pinion. The vehicle was inspected by a certified Honda technician. My personal safety and safety of others that have entered my car have been at risk any time I am in this vehicle. On most occasions the EPS light would fail to come on when this occured. It may be on one out of every ten times the issues occured. The code that occurs is a visa system malfunction.

During the winter i started having issues with my car the bad battery sensor drained my battery had to buy a new one. Then i find out from Honda that i have a recall on that battery sensor still was having issues with the car going on. Finally got the battery sensor changed and now the starter is not working. This sensor is becoming costly for me first a battery and now a starter. This is ridiculous that i have to keep dishing out money for problems with my car that has to due with a faulty sensor that was recalled.

On three occasions over the past two years the 2013 Honda Accord 2.4L sedan would not start. The first time aaa changed the battery. The next time aaa determined that the battery was fine but the car reacted with a fast clicking sound. Pressing the brake pedal would not work and the gear shift would not move out of park. The third time we left the car for about 15 minutes and then it started. Each time the car was left in the on position, in one case charging a cellphone, in another case listening to the radio. In the past I have noticed the smart entry system light come on and off but was told in one case (by a Honda service rep!) that they could not detect a problem and noi code was registered. They said I would have to bring it in when the light was on but it is intermittent. I was wondering if there could be interference from my other car's remote key or my cell phone so I have been moving those to the back of the Accord. I have attached screen shots from the warning light and two websites/blogs with many people who have problems that may be relevant. Here are the links to those sites: www.continentalhonda.com/blog/Honda-dashboard-warning-lights-explained/ https://www.driveaccord.net/threads/smart-entry-system-light-is-on.125729/page-3 https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-T43926_ds666390 thank you

I have changed my cars battery yearly since 2016. It always have a starting issue after several months. I have changed 4 batteries and the issue is still coming every year. Last time was happened in a park when I was driving my kids. Fortunately, my speed was only 20 mph and the car turned off and cannot start. If this happened on the highway, it would be very dangerous. I think the battery of Accord has some problems as I always change the original battery from the dealer. My other cars only need to change battery after 4 to 5 years of use but my Accord need to change a new battery every year. There must be some issues of the car it self. If this happened when I was on the highway, it would be really dangerous.

My car is facing no starting issues several times a year even though I have done every single maintainance on time at the dealership. This time the dealer told me it is a bulletin 19-034 and need a software update. This could be very dangerous if it happened on the highway. Fortunately, it happened in a small park and I was driving very slow. There is always some starting issues of my Honda Accord since I bought it. I went to the dealership several times every year. Sometimes the dealer ask me to change battery and sometimes the dealer aksed me to change all kinds of fluids. I have changed every single fluids, PCV valve, brake pads and rollters in the car almost yearly and the no start issue is still happening. I feel it takes me too much time and cost me several thousand of dollars every year is too much. Also, if the turnoff happend on the highway it is very dangerous. I am hesitate to take my kids in the car since the problem. Very annoying. Also, the software problem should be solved by the manufacturer free but they are charging me every single time.

My chmsl lights were not working after 108,220 miles. I took the car to Honda dealer and they quoted $258.99 for parts and $500 for labor to replace the high mount 3rd brake light. I took it to a private mechanic to get the car fixed who told me that factory-installed led chmsl had its quick connector without a stop tab therefore the wire was pulled out from the quick connector. I had to pay $250 for total repairs to replace led chmsl. The mechanic also mentioned to me that the manufacturer installed the part which was defective intentionally as it had some permanent markings on the led fixture. He also mentioned that the led fixture was functional except for the defective locking tab for the connector. The problem appears to be quality control and manufacturing defect.

Basically, my complaint is that I don't feel that my starter should have to be replaced at 36,000 miles... I have only had the car for 9 months.. I also had to replace the front pads and rotors too.. basically totalling $640. In parts and 360. In labor.. I bought it directly from the dealership.. it has the push button start and it put out a 'grinding sound' when I went to start it, then the front bakes started squeaking also..

After my 100,000 maintenance in September 2020, my Honda Accord began having problems starting. Since then, I have replaced the battery, the alternator and starter. When I start the car for the first time of the day, it starts. After parking the car after I have gone some place, the car will not start. Then, I have to keep pressing the electrical start button until the car starts. So far, at times, it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to re-start the car. I reported the situation to Honda usa on 02/01/2021 and they said there are no recalls on this vehicle so they cannot help me. However, Honda usa did start a case for me. My wife and I do not want to get stranded after driving some place. After reviewing the internet, the electrical starting system is a major issue for the 2013 Honda Accord. Honda usa says you cannot believe everything on the internet. See carcomplaints.com. Something needs to be done because it is a safety issue.
