First experienced in February 2016 car not starting from time to time. Got worse after 2 months now it was about a couple time a week. Ended Up buying a new battery in April $75.00 Problem stopped. Two months later June problem came back but only about once a week. Then 3 weeks ago it was realt bad. Had to turn the key 2 to 4 times before it would start this was occurring a few times a day. Ended up taking it ti the dealer on 7-2-16 exactly 3 yrs form the day I purchased it. 47k miles on the car 2013 Accord LX. Of course the warranty expired at 36k miles.
Gentlemen in the service dept. said it was the starter and it would have to be replaced. $500-$800 to R&R the starter. He said it happens to his Accord at 50k miles. He took it else where due to the cost the dealer wanted and he worked at the dealership. So needless to say I am purchasing one on my own and will install it myself with a friend.
I am going to send a email to Honda to ask for my act of kindness for Honda to pay for this repair. From this website and the Honda blog site this seam to be occuring a lot more. How many more dissatisfied Honda customers will it take for a recall.
I had a 2002 Honda Accord for 12 yrs and 132k miles on t with no starter issues only minor issues that were easy and low cost fixable items. This is the reason I purchased another Honda.
One unhappy Honda customer!

As with most people who wrote on this issue, my Honda Accord 2013 EX 2.4 CVT has recurring problems with engine starting. I first noticed about a month ago when it took several attempts to start the car. Last month, when I pushed the start button, dashboard lit up with various signs, and all the other electrical components seemed to be okay (light, lcd screen, etc) but the car won't start. I heard clicks at first, but it turned off. After several attempts I had to call a guy to jump start the car. I drove around without a problem and didn't turn off the engine for 30 mins incase it was a battery problem.
I went to Honda for a B1 and at the same time told them to thoroughly check the battery. They said the battery was fine with good life. However, it happened again today. To be clear, I did not leave anything on or have anything that would drain the battery. I don't know if its a battery problem or starter problem, but it is really pissing me off that I can't start a 2013 Accord and go to work. I live in LA where cold weather is ever a problem. Something needs to be done by Honda.

About eight or nine times, my 2013 Honda Accord has failed to start. After getting it into the dealer, the diagnostics does not show any faults. The lights still work but just seems like not enough power to start the car or power not getting to starter? Very annoying and I do not expect a newer car with that low of mileage to not start. This has been happening almost since I bought the car new. I know there is something causing it not to start and the dealer is trying to fix it, but to no avail. The dealer just informed me that they put a new battery in the car, but I don"t think that will fix it for long.

Bought my 2013 Honda Accord LX with 41 miles on it. It now has 42800 on it and isnt even 3 years old yet. Within those 42800 miles, I have had to replace my battery twice. Seemed to have fixed the problem. Well, one morning while leaving for work, it took me two times to start my car. Went to work for 8 hours and car started just fine, so I thought it was just a small issue I could ignore.
This past month, I have had to start my car two to three times before it would even turn over. All lights come on and when I turn the key, I hear a click. Took to Autozone to be told it was the alternator. I got a second opinion from a local mechanic and he said that it was a bad alternator and would cost me $836 to replace since my car is so new that remanufactured parts are hard to find.
The next day, car started on the second try. I took it back to the mechanic to be told that its a bad battery. Luckily it was still under warranty so I didn't have to pay for that. The following morning when getting up for work, once again...twice to start. I called Honda to discuss with them and got a quote for $538. Service guy said they have been seeing this very often with the newer cars.
I called the local mechanic back and complained. He said he would replace the starter for $415 for the part and not charge me labor. Well...looks like that's what I'll be doing this week. $1200 later. Hopefully this will fix the problem. I am 5 months pregnant and have a 1 year old and I bought this car to replace my 2002 Honda Civic thinking it was reliable and would last me 8+ years with no issues. I was wrong. I never once had to do anything but preventative maintenance to my Civic until about the 6-7 year mark.
Reading this forum has made me realize that Honda isn't what it used to be. I may have to trade in for something else soon as I can't deal with these problems with two young kids and Texas heat. I'm very disappointed and given that my complaint is not the only one, this cars should be recalled.
