Accord EX 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 5,000 miles

Purchased a brand new 2013 Honda Accord Sport in November 2013. Had first oil change at approximately 15% oil life ever since. I noticed the car consumes 1 to 1.5 quarts until 45% to 50% oil life. I have nver let the oil level go below the low mark. It is painful to monitor the oil level to avaoil it below the low level mark. I had Honda Accord 2000 with out consuming any oil.

NOT Buying Honda car again. Buyers be aware and clarify with dealer in writing about their Oil Consumption policy for this vehicle and any before purchase in writing.

Accord Sport 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 41,000 miles

Car sounded like a disel.Thought that it was disel truck next to me,which it wasn't. Checked oil and did not even register on dip stick. Added three quarts of oil which helped with the sound but definitely still made a new noise.

Took in into the dealer and the fixed it at no charge since it as a STB item. Asked about the oil consumption and was told that I have to change oil again for test. I told them that I will be back in around 5,000 miles when my oil is due for a change again. I did contact Corp. about oil consumption. The rep asked if I check oil when I get gas?

I said that I did not and should not have to. The rep also stated that Honda Corp considers consuming up to a quart of oil every 1000 miles to be acceptable. Pretty terrible standards as far as I'm concerned.

At this point, my Accord has about 49K miles on it. And I have to add 1.5 quarts of oil every 2,500-3,000 miles between oil changes. Thinking about selling now.

Accord EX-L 4 Cl

  • CVT transmission
  • 32,442 miles

I had my oil changed at 28K miles and around 32K miles my oil light came on. Oil life indicator read 50%. Pulled the dip stick and it was dry. I added a quart of synthetic and got a reading on the dip stick. I took it to the dealer, they changed the oil and ran an oil consumption test. After 1K miles, no oil loss was indicated. They told me that unless I was losing a quart of oil per 1000 miles, there was nothing they could do. Their only process seems to be to run oil consumption tests which are a waste of my time and theirs. I am now at 43,000 miles and have had to add two quarts since my last oil change at 36K miles. Unless it gets much worse, I do not expect Honda to do anything. Now, I have to remember to check my oil frequently and will probably ignore the oil life indicator and start having more frequent oil changes. I had a 2001 Honda Accord and never had to add oil to it, even after 150K miles. I no longer trust this car or Honda. My next car is unlikely to be a Honda.

Accord EX-L Navi 2.4L Inline 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 44,211 miles

Hated this car from the start due to the inability to turn off the 'beep' every time you push a button on the upgraded Navi system. Honda coming back saying not possible to fix. Hated them then.

On to the present...

Normally, I perform all scheduled maintenance myself for the vehicles I own, but since I bought this car new figured best to have the dealer perform all service while under warranty. Once the warranty ended and oil was at end of life, I checked the dipstick and it was DRY. No low oil indicator. Shouted various inflammatory remarks and thought the dealer was not actually changing the oil. The last time I picked it up the maintenance minder was not reset. Car running fine, so changed the oil and no big deal.

Turns out the dealer changed the oil. I began checking the level consistently, and at 70% oil life remaining 1 quart down. Topped it back up. Now at 40% oil life remaining 1 quart down again. I'd guess that when I dropped this car off for maintenance it was somewhere around 3 quarts low, AND THE DEALER NEVER MENTIONED A DAMN THING. THEY WERE JUST HOPING I WOULD NOT NOTICE UNTIL THE WARRANTY EXPIRED.

Another tell-tale sign is that they did not hound me to buy an extended warranty. Hmmm. When does that ever happen?

So, now I hate Honda more.

Accord LX 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 39,164 miles

Purchased car new in Mar 2013 and has been using oil from the beginning, 1/2 qt. low at 50% of oil life. Reported to Honda dealer and was ask to do an oil consumption test at 1000 mile intervals. This has been done and used more than a quart and still have 40% showing as time before oil change is due. Was told by one dealer to check oil every time I fill up and another says oil should be changed every 5000 miles. The Honda book goes by % indicator and says to change at 15%.

Am I the only one with this problem on the 2013 4cyl Accord?

Accord EX 2.4L L4

  • Manual transmission
  • 4,700 miles

I am a student and a full time employee. I bought a new car hoping not to have any problem for a few years. I bought a new 2013 Honda Accord Coupe as my favorite car and before even the car was due for its first oil change the light for low engine oil came on. I was advised by service guy to drive up to dealer which was about 25 miles way. My engine might already be damaged because it was making oil. The dealer drained the oil out and said they found only 2 quarts left and there was no oil on my dip stick. A brand new car with a major problem and dealer did a oil consumption test to find out if they forgot to add oil. They did the test and after 2,200 miles driven when oil was changed it was missing half quart. They said that was not excessive and later I brought it back after 2,800 and 1 quart was missing. The service guy said that is not excessive oil!!!

I was angry and asked him what is excessive consumption and he said around 4000 miles if 2 quarts are gone then its excessive. I was like okay that is how much was missing when I brought the car. Also its 3000 miles and in 500 miles half quart is gone. So after another 1000 I quart will be gone. I am fed up doing anything because customer is never right. Only what the service guy says is right. I always believed that customer is always right and I have worked in sales before. The service manager I spoke to had taken me as a joke. My car was there at dealer and I had no rental. I asked them and he said THIS IS NOT MERCEDES BENZ and laughed. I am not being helped at all.

I saw that the previous model had a law suit and so are the new models. Like I don't have have time going far away 25 miles to see a dealer. This is some crap because I bought a brand new car about 7 months ago that burns oil. Please if anyone can help me that be great.

Accord LS Sport V4

  • CVT transmission
  • 6,100 miles

Purchased a brand new 2013 Honda Accord Sport in Sept 2013. Had first oil change at approximately 3000 miles. Around 6000 miles while I applied the brakes coming to a stop, I noticed the red oil indicator blink on real quick and then go off. Decided to check the oil before a fairly long ride....Dipstick was BONE DRY!!! No visable oil leaks around the vehicle. Have been reading up and finding out there is a settled class action lawsuit against Honda for this problem in earlier models. Calling dealer tomorrow and hoping not to get a run around!

Accord EX-L V6 3.5L J35y1-1005861

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,500 miles

Honda Accord EX-L 3.5 V6 Engine No. J35Y1-1005861 Vin: 1HGCR3F80DA005119 6500 miles on the engine. No visible oil leaks. We experience excessive oil consumption on this vehicle. The Honda Dealer refilled oil till the oil stick show max oil level. After 1000 miles we brought the car back as told and the oil stick was dry. Not sure what will be the next steps from the Honda Dealer. It's just frustrating. That's my wife’s 1st brand spanking new car and now this. Any recommendations?? Please let me know.

Accord EX-L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,990 miles

Got 2013 accord coupe couple months ago. Decided to check my engine fluids. Everything was fine until I got to the oil dip stick. It seems like almost half of the oil was missing. Left it there for an hour, came back and it was still the same. I was thinking maybe it was because the engine was running. Called it only has little over 3000 miles now. Taking it to the dealership in a few days. Anyone else having this issue? Please feel free to add.
