The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. the contact stated that oil was mixing with the fuel. The dealer (vandergriff Honda, 1104 w interstate 20, arlington, tx 76017, (817) 533-4266) noticed the failure and performed an oil change at no charge. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for another oil change 2,000 miles later. The contact had an oil sample sent off for diagnostic testing. The results showed over 5.3% of fuel in the oil and the contact was informed that any amount over 2% was indication of another failure. The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the vehicle be taken back to the dealer. The dealer stated that there was an unknown recall, but the contact's vehicle was not included. The dealer stated that the vehicle was designed in this manner. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 3,000.

As I was driving in the fast lane of the 405 freeway the car started to vibrate and make a lot of noise. Then it slowed down and would not accelerate at a normal rate. I went from 65 mph to about 30mph and barely avoided faster cars while pulling to the exit lane. I was able to take surface streets home. I thought it might be a blown head gasket so I checked the oil for water and found a lot of gas in it. The dipstick showed the level to be almost 1 1/4 inches above the max level line even after letting it sit for 30 minutes. When I took it to the dealership they said that this is normal and said the manufacturer said all I need is an oil change.

In cold weather, when the car isn't to full operating temperature, fuel mixes with the engine oil which increases the oil volume over time. Honda has issued a recall in northern states but refuses to address other states where the problem exists (problem fully documented from the local dealer). Recall needs to be expanded to all states. Too much engine oil (mixed with fuel) will cause the car to stall. In addition, after talking to Honda corporate - they indicated a potential long term impact with damaged a cam shaft. Yet, they still refuse to fix my car or provide free oil changes until they decide to fix it. This has been an ongoing issue for over a year - fully documented.

I check engine oil yesterday and found level very high on dipstick and smelling strongly of gasoline. I called the Honda dealer checkered flag where I purchased the vehicle and took it directly there.it had only been 180 miles driven since last oil change at dealer. They offered to change oil again and then told me to keep checking oil level and return to dealer in 1000 miles. I was told the oil level was half quart over filled and was because gas was not being burned during combustion because engine was not hot enough. They said it was normal and not to worry. I don't think the oil will protect my engine when it is so diluted with gasoline.I filed a complaint and got a case number [xxx] from Honda America, but want the problem to be fixed before there is long term damage to my engine. Upon seeing all of the complaints about the 1.5 liter turbo engine in the CR-V's and civics, I inspected the oil in my 2017 Honda CR-V only 100 miles after it was changed by the local Honda dealer. I pulled out the dipstick and noticed that the oil level was over the recommended limit and it was very dark in color. I leaned into the engine and noticed a strong presence of a gasoline smell. I have also noticed the presence of this smell before inside of the cabin but I thought it could be from something else. I am convinced it's coming from the engine. Honda needs to do something about this.

Ist oil/filter change by dealer at 4K miles all appeared to be normal. 2nd oil/filter change by dealer at 8K miles oil level was excessively high over dipstick max fill mark by 1/2 inch and oil dipstick had intense gasoline smell and oil viscosity was extremely low. Dealer says Honda is investigating an 'oil dilution' issue with this engine type.

My 2017 Honda CR-V has a strong fuel odor coming from the engine oil dipstick. Also, the oil level rises above the full mark indicator on the dipstick. A fuel odor coming from the vents when the heater is on. Also, heater doesn't appropriately heat up the cabin. Consequently, I took my car to a Honda dealer and they told me they were unaware of this being a problem. They ran a diagnostics on the car and told me to come back when next oil change is due. After researching this fuel odor problem on the internet, I discovered that this issue was a result of gasoline leaking into the engine oil compartment. This problem is called oil dilution and it causes the car to stall unexpectedly. This may happen on the highway and result in serious injury or death when traveling at a high rate of speed. Also, it is hazardous to be inhaling gasoline fines coming from the vents. Not to mention the damage it's causing to the engine itself. Honda hasn't taken any action to fix this serious safety hazard.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CR-V. when the contact checked the oil, the dipstick had a fuel odor. The vehicle was taken to goudy Honda (1400 w main St, alhambra, ca 91801, 626-576-1114) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,456. Consumer stated gasoline is in the oil cabin filer. I smell gasoline in the cabin while driving. I'm really concerned because I have my 2 year-old son in the car with me most of the time. That's going to cause some health issues. The oil level shown on the dip stick is always high and has heavily gas smell when dip stick is pulled out of engine.

On 12-5-2018 I started smelling gas fumes in and around the vehicle, while driving or parked. Contacted dealership 12-7-2018, scheduled an appointment and went in today. They are aware of the problem but said all they can do is change the oil as they don't have a fix for the problem of fuel getting into oil on my 1.5 turbo. (this problem has been going on since 2015 based on documentation found on the internet.) when I got ready to leave the dealership the gas smell started up again so the oil change doesn't appear to have helped. Since this has started I've also started getting headaches when I drive my vehicle. I'm also concerned that my vehicle could catch fire or breakdown. I'm not sure what else to do.

My 2017 CR-V ex-L has the oil dilution issue. Currently reading 1.5 inches higher than the max fill line on the dipstick. Vehicle smells so bad...like sulfur smell or gas. It is an overpowering smell and makes me nauseous. This can occur after idling for a few minutes, or after driving on a highway for 30 minutes. It is not just a short driving distance issue. Honda has known about this issue for years, and yet continues to sell the vehicle. They have not come up with a fix that works. Taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. After driving this for 2 years with this issue, I can only imagine the amount of damage on my engine. This is a safety issue. Fumes that fill the inside of the vehicle are not healthy or safe. At some point, the oil issue could be a fire hazard or the engine could fail at any moment. Why is Honda not being forced to fix this with a recall and/or buy back these vehicles?

We are experiencing the same fuel dilution in the engine oil that many other owners with 2017-18 Cr-vs with the 1.5T engine are experiencing. We live in va. I feel as though I don't need to go into details as this issue is so well known, prompted a ban on sales of the vehicle in china, etc. They keep pushing back the recall and now announced for the first two months, it will only be available in select northern states. A simple search through complaints shows that this problem is not isolated to the northern states, it may be exacerbated by significantly cold weather, but the way they are rolling out a recall is not acceptable. It's unsafe (causes stalling vehicles on the highway and in traffic, which is most definitely a safety concern) and causes premature wear on the engine (a consumer protection issue). NHTSA needs to step up and accelerate enforcement action, e.g. make them accelerate the recall to all of their customers, not just just arbitrary classification and order based on whether or not you live on one side of a state line or the other. It gets cold in va too. The Honda dealer basically told us we're out of luck until the recall, and to keep changing the oil.
