Steering wheel sticks even at low speeds, car has 3000 miles, started problems at 2500 miles. Dealer says part available end of April, problem reported in dec,2023. Feel unsafe driving this car, this is unexcepable

While travelling on a straight highway (60 - 70mph). The steering sticks and a greater effort is required to do slight steering corrections. This causes overcorrection and potential lane departure. I have reported this at both my 2 previous services and was told they could not duplicate the issue. At the last appointment we took in information regarding the problem from various sources and were told if they could not duplicate it they could not fix it, leaving us hoping for an eventual recall. In the meantime we question how serious the issue is and how safe the vehicle is to drive.

We have reported a -??sticky-?? or -??locking-?? issue with our car since a month after purchase, when the steering wheel is top dead center it forces itself to the left or right, in slight turning motions during vehicle operation it isn-??t free flowing and locks up in either direction for a split second causing constant jerking motions trying to keep the car in the lane. We have took the car in but are now told the part is 4 months out, got told to drive vehicle until then. It is a HUGE safety concern that really does need immediate attention. Our local Honda has replaced one part but claims the part we are waiting on is back ordered.

This issue became readily apparent in the last two months of driving on state roads up towards the thumb. These trips were approximately 50 miles, one way, at 50 to 60 mph. The issue is only noticeable when driving on a straight section of road. Problem is at its worst at speeds between 30 and 60 mph after driving approximately 20 miles. The steering feels as thought there are magnets opposing the steering wheel. When making small corrections, it feels like you have to break the magnets loose to move the steering wheel. This causes the vehicle to oversteer in the direction of correction, resulting in the need to correct in the opposite direction, resulting in a constant struggle to maintain lane position. NOTE; Over 60 mph, the effort to "unstick" the steering seems to dissipate as 70+ mph is approached.

Recently, when returning from a highway driving trip, I noticed that the steering had become "sticky." It feels like the steering wheel catches momentarily you have to push through that with the steering wheel to control the car. At this point the problem is mild as the car can be driven but it is a little disconcerting as you drive at highway speeds. The steering on my 2023 Honda Crv-ex has started sticking and is causing over steering when you try to gently shift to the right or left. The feeling is as if the steering wheel is stuck in position and you have to push slightly harder to get past the "catch". This has caused me to almost run off the road and also get too close to vehicles in the next lane as I am making minor adjustments within my lane. It feels as if you are about to lose control and then suddenly the steering wheel makes a tiny jerk and you can turn.

Vehicle has 10,000 miles on it, steering started feeling strange and gradually got worse to the point we did not feel safe driving it. It was hard to keep the vehicle driving in a straight line and would stick when you tried to turn either direction. A few time we almost hit the vehicle next to us because it would suddenly unstick or break free and the vehicle would lunge in the direction of the turn. We took it to our local Honda service center and they diagnosed it as a defective steering gear assembly (rack & pinion). Part is on backorder and we were told it could be up to four months for a replacement. Vehicle has been at the dealership for two weeks. We were given a loaner but are restricted as to how many miles and where we can drive it, no trips over 100mi.

The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a dealer. The service manager went on a test drive with the contact and experienced the failure. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact returned to the residence and then drove to another local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the steering failure had become a recurring failure. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: EA23003 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

The steering is sticky, not smooth. This happens around 40 mph and higher. I took the vehicle to the dealership in Wichita within the past week. This was the second time I had the vehicle in to the dealership for this problem. They performed an alignment the first time on Nov. 3, 2023. Last week, they said they found nothing wrong with the steering. This started happening last summer. It didn't bother me a great deal at first but started to get worse. I purchased the CR-V in February 2023. The problem worries me because I feel the steering could fail at higher speeds, and I frequently drive family members in the vehicle. I can make the vehicle available for inspection.
