2006, 2007, and some 2008 Honda Civics have "out of spec" upper control arms on the rear suspension which results in excess negative camber, improper wear of rear tires.

2007 Honda Civic coupe rear tires wear out prematurely due to a geometric design flaw. The vehicle shakes and pulls due to this problem. Dealer would not provide Honda recommended repair until advised that I knew of the issue. Then they agreed to the repair under warranty but not the damaged tires. Honda has it as a service bulletin #08-001. "not a recall" they will not do anything about the damaged tires.

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. The rear of the vehicle vibrated at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic for an oil change and the rear suspension was inspected. The mechanic noticed that the tires had uneven wearing and advised the contact to go to the dealer. The dealer stated that the control arms and all four tires needed to be replaced. The dealer will cover the cost for the replacement of the control arms, but not the tires. The failure mileage was 19,660 and current mileage was 19,860.

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic. While driving 60mph, the front end was shaking. An independent mechanic rotated the front passenger and driver tires to the rear and stated that the rear control arm failed and caused excessive wear on the tires. The dealer agreed with the diagnosis and replaced the rear tires at no cost to the owner. The dealer advised the contact that they dont know when the parts will be available to repair the rear control arms; however, they would notify him of the availability. The dealer also failed to replace the front tires. The failure mileage was 14,845 and the current mileage was 15,000.
