Bought car used. Noticed a few scratches on front bumper cover from where somebody hit parking lot cement bumper strip but bumper seemed attached and went under MD state inspection and passed. Driving down the road, the bumper popped off and starting rubbing front tires. The wheel well where it attaches to is torn so not sure if rivet failure or failure in that area. From what I can tell will be close to $1,000 to fix. In addition, entire hood of car has paint peeling issues. Also, had to replace both rear wheel hub assemblies. Other than that, I love this car!

I thought I had used something too caustic to wash my car when a coworker told me there was a recall to fix the peeling paint on Honda Civics as thousands were experiencing the same defect. No such recall but I'm ticked that Honda is putting out such low quality products these days. It's going to cost me almost $3000 to have the car completely repainted. There is extensive peeling on the roof and it's starting to peel on the sides and hood. Pictures to follow if I remember.

Update from Nov 19, 2015: Cost was $1300, not $3000. Still a lot of money for poor quality from Honda.

Recently bought 08 Honda Civic LX from 3rd owner with 97k. Went to Lucas Honda Jacksonville and they sent me to get an estimate @ the shop they use for collision and paint auto work. Submitted to Honda for approval under paint recall but district Mgr declined for past paint recall period. It is obvious from service records from Honda that they never informed the owner's that the vehicle had a paint recall and needed to be repainted. I don't know if Honda ever notified any of the previous owners of the paint recall but they certainly had an obligation to correct the issue since it was being maintained under warranty and out of warranty service maintenance by Honda. This will be my last Honda since they won't honor this paint recall that they were required to do so because of faulty paint process to avoid further EPA fines.

The paint on the roof of my car should not be peeling off. It looks absolutely terrible and I really liked my car up until this happened. I had no complaints and then it started, at first it was barely noticeable, just a little cloudy on my roof at the rear, but then it got bigger and is spreading and flaking off. It looks like I bought a car from a junk yard.

There is no acceptable reason other than Honda just decided to cheap out on its paint. I have seen this with many Civics around the same age as mine and it's definitely made me rethink buying a Honda, especially when I called Honda customer service and they basically blew me off and said, well, no one made you buy this car. This is unacceptable and Honda Canada should take responsibility for their decision to use inferior paint. Own up to it and repaint the cars that are having issues.

The paint on my car started peeling a couple of years ago, My parents contacted the dealership they have a relationship with(Grand Blanc Michigan) about this 2 years ago after finding on the internet there was a recall on the paint. They verified that there was. I had moved to Florida and when my Mother was visiting we went to the Honda Dealership in Orlando they said yes also but couldn't look at it then. My job is very demanding and couldn't get back there until today, July 16, 2015. Now they tell me there was no recall!!!

Are you kidding me? My family loves Honda, 4 Accords, 3 Civic's , a truck and pilot to date. We have family and friends that work for Ford and Chevrolet and have defended buying foreign because Honda has a good product and stand behind it.

Well... I was wrong ! How do they change the program and say NO RECALL after telling us there WAS A RECALL! If they don't stand behind this very bad paint recall, Honda is loosing some VERY LOYAL CUSTOMERS,

I bought this car brand-spanking-new and, for the most part, I love it! Any issues I've ever had were very minor and addressed by the mechanics at dealerships. BUT. Less than a year ago the paint started to get cloudy and started to peel - it's gotten A LOT worse just in the last few months to the point that this car looks A LOT older than it is and looks like a total POS and it's embarrassing. I never washed it excessively, parked in the shade whenever possible or covered parking and never has any excess amount of bird poo hit it EVER. Needless to say, I won't be buying another Honda if I have to worry about stupid crap like this which, is a shame, because it's been a very reliable car for me.

The paint job on my red 2008 Honda Civic is a mess. It's turned blotchy white and is peeling. The Honda Dealer in Escondido stated it was a definite Honda paint problem when I took my car in to confirm it. He contacted the Factory Rep., Robert Craig, who said they will do nothing to fix it. Nothing at all. I tried to call him myself, the Honda Dealer Mike, gave me Robert Craig's phone number, but they wouldn't put me through to him when I called him at 1-800-999-1009. I talked to someone named Matthew there instead who wouldn't do anything either but give me the address to BBB to file a complaint.

This car has only 88,888 miles on it and has been professionally maintained since I bought it Jan. 6, 2009 when it had only 15,000 ( or less on it ). I asked how long they expect their vehicles paint to last and he told me that it had a 3 year warranty. 3 years for a paint job!! I asked what the average time paint lasted and he said they don't track that. Seriously? 3 years!!

I saw this site to file a complaint. I had read that the years prior, up to 2007 had won a class action lawsuit over their paint. Must be time for the next batch! Anyone working on this? thank you!
