2016 Honda Civic leased in October of 2016. I had several error messages come on screen for multiple issues so I brought the car to the Honda dealership. Was told an animal chewed through several wires and caused the power steering to go out. Apparently this is a known issue as the dealership told me that this has happened multiple times to cars brought in. This is not covered under warrenty although it seems to be a manufacturing issue. So not only did I lose power steering while driving which is a severe safety concern especially while driving my 6 month old child in the vehicle, but its my responsibility to foot the $240 bill to repair the damage. Also there is no clear solution to prevent animals from again chewing the wires and putting my family and I at risk again. That is unless I take the advice from the dealership which is to 'stuff my hood compartment with fabric softner dryer sheets because animals do not like the smell' which again brings up safety concernswith a potential fire hazard.

My 2016 Honda Civic coupe touring was parked in my attached garage at night with all windows and sunroof shut. In the morning when I went to the garage, both windows and the sunroof (which I never use) were wide open. In reading multiple car forums, this is not uncommon, however Honda refuses to admit there is an issue. I believe it has something to do with a fob function that is programmed to intentionally perform the windows/sunroof open function with the fob. However, this function has no means of deactivation!! this causes a risk to all contents of the car. Deactivation should be able to be made by car owner.

On two occasions, my Civic has "locked up". upon starting the vehicle, all of the warning light illuminate and the car won't go into gear. I was stuck where I was and had to get the car moving so I forcefully engaged the vehicle by inserting the key into the shift knob area. When driving the car, all of the warning lights were still on and the steering wheel was difficult to move, the vehicle was very hard to maneuver, the brakes did not work well, and the problem persisted. I eventually disconnected the battery and "reset" the computer that way. The problem went away for a few months, then came back again same exact way. The next time, I did the same thing, disconnected the battery and it reset. I do not know if this problem is with the electrical system, transmission, braking, or whatever. All I know is it was very dangerous to drive after I was finally able to engage the transmission. One other point to make, I already had the "parking brake recall" software update completed by Honda. The dealership said they did not have a recall for this type of problem and all they could do would be restart the car until they were able to recreate the problem. I did no think this was a good use of time (theirs or mine) so I am hoping for a recall soon!

Upon starting vehicle, center console screen was black. When I tapped the power button, the screen flashed green and went black. No radio function, no camera function, nothing. I drove on city streets to the gas station and in a few minutes, the computer suddenly woke up by itself and has been fine since. Just called the service dept. Woman said no one has called about a problem like this, but they'd be happy to run a diagnostic for $100. I've been down this road before with my old prius. They'll run the diagnostic and tell me they can't find anything wrong because they can't recreate the problem. Meanwhile I'll be out $100 and my time. And looking at forums on the internet, this is a problem for other Honda owners, so Honda needs to do something about this. It can be a safety issue. Drive by wire is dangerous if manufacturers can't get reliable software. We'll see if I hear back from the service department or not about tsb or software updates. I doubt it.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. While driving 35 mph, the brake light illuminated and the vehicle became difficult to accelerate for a few moments. After the light went out, the vehicle operated normally. The contact also stated that the information center in the vehicle would randomly flicker and the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed that there was software failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 11,158.

Sir/MA'am, I would like to address somewhat safety problem that many Civic have. Honda Civic has a center touch screen that controls radio, temperature and importantly shows rear view camera and right side camera. Today the center screen didn't even turn on and wasn't able to see an object rear and underneath of my car due to the screen not turned on. It is known issue for Civic community. I wish that NHTSA take a look into this issues.

The ac has went out on two occasions. The first occasion was due to the system needing to be recharged. The second being a hose was not connected correctly. The back tweeter speakers went out and had to be replaced. 3 audio updates needed to be done. While driving the car stopped accelerating and the car started shaking. There was no brakes or power steering at this time. Different codes started lighting up the dash. I was able to get the car stopped and off the road into the ditch area. It is currently at Honda.

Purchased a new 2016 Civic touring in May 2016. Within a couple of weeks I was having small electrical issues such as screens going black, rebooting, and stereo not working. I would get a failure warning on the dash once in awhile (different each time). Car failed to start on July 26th 2016. All screens were flashing error messages. Car would not start. I called the dealer and had the car towed. Dealer claimed they have never seem this problem. They kept the car for a couple of days and stated there was nothing wrong, and they couldn't replicate the problem. I would continue to have the same small problems with the car every so often. Until, the car slammed on the brakes coming to a complete stop by itself and computer took 100% control of the car. I couldn't steer, accelerate, or control the car at all. I nearly got rear ended in an intersection. There was not a car directly in front of me that would have caused the collision avoidance to brake in order to avoid an accident. After the car came to a complete stop I regained control again and the car operated normal. Soon after, while attempting to start the car I received the all the error codes again and it the car wouldn't start. I again called the dealer and had it towed. Dealer cannot tell me why the car self braked and cannot replicate it. I have an open case# with Honda of America. I have told both the dealership and Honda of America the car is unsafe to drive. My wife and daughter are both scared for their safety to drive it. No one from my family including myself will be driving the car ever again, nor can I sell it to someone else. They need to purchase the car back from me and find out what is causing this to ensure no one gets seriously injured from this happening again.

The contact owns a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated that the electric parking brake, brake hold system, and air bag SRS warning indicators flashed, and the lane keep assist warning indicator deactivated. The vehicle lost power and various warning indicators and gauges flickered. The contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to a dealer. The dealer was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure, but test drove the vehicle. The vehicle was left at the dealer. The contact placed two calls to the manufacturer, left a voice message, and was waiting for a response. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

While driving 25 mph in daytime/dry conditions/light traffic on a straight portion of a two-lane street, vehicle lost instrumentation (tach, speedometer, and central display) for approx. 45-60 seconds. As system reset, large "H" was displayed for a period and then instrumentation was restored. Queried service rep at the dealership who said it wasn't a known issue. Occurred about Mar 16. Hasn't reoccurred yet.

Certain Honda Civic's have apple's carplay installed, through the ios iphone mobile phone platform. When enabled, or plugged into the car, navigation support provided by apple's maps application goes into 'day mode' while at night. This creates a huge amount of brightness in the car and blinds the driver with brightness. There is no fix for this problem and I can easily see how accidents can be triggered due to blinding interior light due to the apple maps (through carplay) not working properly. This is clearly an error, or poor design by apple/Honda. I believe that carplay's navigation function is a danger to the american public because having huge amounts of sudden brightness causes distraction and major problems with vision.

Vehicle has repeatedly thrown errors with warnings to not drive the vehicle and have it inspected by the dealer. The vehicle has already been to the shop twice for the problem. In both cases Honda installed an updated vsa modulator they claimed would fix the problem. It has not. Not the local dealer doesn't even want to see the vehicle as they tell me their is nothing more they can do for us. They claimed to have emailed Honda corporate to have a regional rep contact us. It has been 4 days since. They say the vehicle is safe, but yet they don't even know what is wrong with it. The vehicle has a defect they cannot correct, and my car is not alone. Please look at these two sites to see examples: hondacivicproblems.com and www.civicx.com/threads/TPMS-ABS-brake-system-acc-freak-out.1002/ each time the vehicle is not in motion. Each time the error messages appear after starting the vehicle. Each time the warnings instruct you not to drive the vehicle. Errors include: Cmbs problem, adaptive cruise control problem, tire pressure monitor system, brake system problem, anti-lock brake system, tire pressure low, and charging system problem.
