I have been having ongoing steering problems resulting in having to correct my steering when on the interstate. It has been stated as "sticky steering". My 2017 is having the same issue and it is a huge safety issue to myself and others on thr e road. I'm documenting this complaint as if something happens, I will have this for my documents.

My steering wheel starts almost locking into a groove when driving. It will happen after 10 minutes or so of driving and it is most noticeable like when trying to stay straight in a lane, like when trying to make minor adjustments left or right, it feels like the steering wheel will stick, causing it to jerk more in the direction I'm trying to steer, which causes slight over steering and having to correct back the other direction. It's random and usually happens on drives longer than 5 minutes, but once it starts doing it, it stays that way till I'm done driving.

"sticky steering" issue. The issue is momentary increase in steering effort, mostly at highway speeds causing over steering jeopardizing safety. Honda refuses to acknowledge this issue although honda has issued a recall notice for same issue, same year same model. Honda stating that my specific VIN number is not one that has been recalled although car has same issue that it's being recalled for. Repair costing about $3500 per Honda service.

While driving the steering is -??sticking-?? and feels like there is tension while driving on a straight road and trying to keep the the vehicle straight. The tension in the steering wheel is overcome while trying to keep it straight causing the vehicle to jerk in that direction. You must react in the opposite direction to avoid collision which causes it to jerk in the other direction. It happens at all speeds and most noticeably at 40+ mph making it very concerning to drive and difficult to control the vehicle. My concern is that the vehicle will lose control completely at some point due to this issue.

Steering is -??sticking-?? or momentarily locking. Going straight then initiating a turn, the steering sticks momentarily until it finally -??breaks loose-??. Results in over-controlling and having to do almost S-turns while trying to keep the car straight. More apt to do so at higher speeds and the traveling faster does exacerbate the over-controlling (over-steering) conditions.

Steering wheel "sticks." I has been doing it since around 40,000 miles. It has gotten worse with time. While driving in straight line after it warms up the steering wheel does not move when trying to make micro adjustments and then when it does it jerks and causes the driver to overcompensate. Makes driving very tiring and unsafe. It is difficult to keep the car driving straight when tis happens. I can see there have been recalls regarding this problem with newer Civics, like 22-23, but mine has been doing it and it is a 2017. Last time it happened was recently while my drive was driving and I was out of town on 3/15/24.

Honda has a recall for 2017 Civics for faulty sticking steering racks. My vehicle has experienced the same issue and I have been fighting for two years to have it fixed. Honda refuses time after time to replace the steering rack stating my VIN isn't included in the recall. The same exact part number they have recalled and continued using year after year is on my Civic. They refused assistance for two years and now state my vehicle is out of warranty and they do not want to cover the fix.

I am the original owner of a 2017 Honda civic ex. Recently I have been experiencing a "sticky steering wheel". When driving the car will veer to the left or right. The steering wheel feels stuck and causing over correction and erratic jerky car movements. There is also a clicking sound when moving the steering wheel out of the "stuck" position. I see this has been an ongoing problem with the Honda civics on the 2016 -2023 models with over a half million recalled in 2022 -2023. Honda of America says that there is no recall for my VIN number and until the NHTSA says so that they will not take any action for this ongoing safety problem and I will have to pay for any repairs.

My steering wheel seems to feel like it kind of locks up and is hard to release, causing me to yank slightly. It hasn't caused an incident yet, but I believe it will at some point if not checked. I'm going to get it checked out once I have some available time. I do see where 2022- 2023 have possible recalls for a similar issue that sounds exactly like what is happening on mine. After the car has been drive for 20 minutes on the highway, I have a problem with my steering when keeping the car on center, the steering gets sticky and a jerking feeling when adjusting the steering that causes me to overreact in the opposite direction, this occurs with the slightest adjustment of the steering wheel, obvious only when driving on the highway.

Our car is a 2017 Honda Civic. We bought it new in November 2016. While driving, it came to our attention there was something wrong with the steering of the car. Steering feels too loose and at times it locks up. We took it in to be assessed and were told the steering gearbox needed to be replaced. The car went in for repair of the steering gearbox. Encountering costly power steering rack repairs should not be expected in a car with low mileage and age.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Civic. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The vehicle stability assist (VSA), the electric power steering (EPS), the TPMS and the brake warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as needed. The warning lights were no longer illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 50-65 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact was able to continue driving by using physical force to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that he arrived at the residence, parked, and turned off the vehicle; however, upon restarting the vehicle approximately 6 hours later, the failure persisted. The vehicle stability assist (VSA), the electric power steering (EPS), and the TPMS warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

At speeds above 40 mph, the steering feels sticky to the point of using extra effort to make steering adjustments to the point of oversteering and having to make more corrections in path. At highway speeds it becomes worse to the point its hard to drive a straight line and looks like I'm driving impaired.
