The contact owns a 2018 Honda HR-V. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start immediately. The contact stated that the vehicle started after several attempts. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and driving, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed as alternator failure. The alternator was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact researched online and linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V314000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer was notified of the information however, the contact was informed that the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer pohanka Honda located at 1772 ritchie station ct, capitol heights, md 20743 who diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that the failures were related to a previous repair performed under the NHTSA campaign number: 20V314000 (fuel system). No further information was available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 33,000.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Bay ridge Honda (8801 4th ave, brooklyn, NY 11209) was contacted and confirmed that the part was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Bought new last week.only 480 miles so far. There is a strong smell of gasoline when I pull the oil dipstick.gasoline and oil dont mix well together. Worried about mechanical issues as the miles pile on. Thanks.
