Recall 04V176000 concerning transmission failure. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer on a Monday evening, and later that day consumer received the recall notice, and gave the dealer the extended warranty. Dealer denied the claim, and said that what was being done was not related to the recall, it involved the transmission. Then, dealer contacted consumer claiming that the transmission was shot, and a new transmission was needed. Honda refused to submit the claim for the recall. Dealership refused to honor the recall, and did not help the consumer. The vehicle still has problems.

Vehicle was making a high pitched whistle sound in low gears. Brought to dealer and "new" transmission was put in. Still a problem, so 2nd "new" transmission was put in. 2 months later vehicle is shifting roughly in lower gears and rolls backwards when on slight to moderate incline when in "drive". was told by dealer that all of this is "normal". another customer, who also has the same vehicle said hers does not roll backwards when in "drive".

The consumer now complains of having neck pain, mid back pain, lower back pain and headaches.

Transmissionon June 25, 2004 vehicle was repaired for this recall. While driving 80 mph on June 28, 2004 transmission locked up and caused the vehicle to skid approximately 200 feet before it came to a stop. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the cause of the problem was still undetermined.

Problems with vehicle's transmission and air conditioner. Other problems included the passenger seat moving when the vehicle stops or starts. Transmission surged on occasions. The air conditioner failed as a result of a hole in the condenser which could've been caused by debris. This repair wasn't covered under warranty. When the seats were checked, the mechanic stated it was normal due to other Odyssey vehicle's on the lot with moving seats. After the fact, the consumer felt as though all problems or concerns were not repaired.

Hello- I do not know where to go to find out information regarding my new vehicle. I am having a problem with the transmission "slipping" or "lurching" when it decelerates. This happens when it is shifting at the speed of 45 mph. The dealer told me it was "normal operation" that the vehicle knows when I need to slow down more rapidly then downshifts for me --- the driver. I do not believe an automobile can know when I need to slow more rapidly. It is uncomfortable to "lurch" forward due to an excessive downshift when I am braking. While I was at the dealer discussing my problem, the woman next to me- who also has a 2003 odessy - was having the same issue. She was also told this is a "normal operation" of the car. The dealer stated that this should only happen while going down a hill/incline. However, this has happened to me on a straight stretch of road. I am afraid this is a defective transmission and will "slip" or "lurch" and cause serious harm or death. The Honda dealer has told me there is nothing they can/will do about this issue. How can I find out if indeed my transmission is having problems?? I do not know where to go for help or to find if any testing has already been done on this problem. If you have any suggestions - other than contacting Honda - any independant agencies that might have information on this issue, I would appreciate any help. I am looking for some unbiased advice from a reputable Agency that will tell me if I have a problem with this transmission. Thank you in advance for your help with this problem.
