2005 Odyssey car has less than 30,000 miles. A/C stopped working. Was told debris went under car and punctured condenser. Not covered under warranty. After paying out of pocket for repairs discovered many other similar complaints. Exact same problem with exact same explanation by dealership repair worker. If this is a design flaw, it should be repaired but not out of my pocket. It seems very clear Honda is aware of the problem.

The air conditioner A/C on my 2005 Honda Odyssey stopped working. I took vehicle to the dealer, who said a rock had hit the condenser and caused a hole. This was not covered by warranty and will cost between $800 and $1000 to fix. Honda stated that it was not under warranty because it was caused by an outside influence ie the rock. There was no protection for the condenser as it was located near two big holes for air intake under the licence plate, and the A/C condenserwas not protected by mesh or anything that would prevent rocks from hitting it under normal road conditions. If I could not drive it on the road without worrying about a rock hitting the A/C, then where can I drive it?

Purchased a 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan with 11000 miles. The air conditioning became intermittent; then gradually became warmer and warmer until it stopped. Went to Honda dealer in weymouth, MA. Initially they said if a rock or other object may have caused the a leak, it would not be covered under warranty. I initially agreed, however, this is not just my van with a freak problem. On "topix.net" you will see that many, many others are having a similar problem. NHTSA needs to help the manufacturer recognize that they need to step up and cover the repair which will repeat time and again if no retro fit is made to protect the condenser. This is a very expensive repair and consumers are being saddled with costs, on top of owning a new vehicle, that has a warranty. The sad thing is the dealer acted like they don't know that hundreds of others have had a similar problem! please help!

: the contact stated the condenser to the air conditioner has been damaged due to rocks flying up and hitting the condenser while the vehicle is in motion. The dealer determined this occurs to these types of vehicles on a consistent basis.

Honda Odyssey air conditioner stopped working one day. Took it to the local princeton Honda dealer in NJ. He said its because of a leak in the condenser and that a stone from the road hit the car and that it is not covered under warranty. I found it hard to believe that a stone would cause this. Called Honda America customer service, they gave me the same reason. It cost me about $850 to replace the condenser. Then I researched and found out that a lot of people have this issue with the Honda Odyssey. Here is a link to the newsgroup --> www.topix.net/forum/autos/Honda-Odyssey/tjbopfur3svarkhcj/P2#lastpost looks like a bad grill design at the least. Honda refuses to acknowledge this problem. Not sure what to do hence filing this complaint.

Poor design of 2005 Honda Odyssey. I have had to replace air conditioner twice in 18 months due to flying rock punctures. Honda dealership knows of exact repair (chicken wire) but won't do it. Hundreds of people on the internet are experiencing same problem. Both punctures happened during winter when A/C not used so incident date is approximate.
