When braking, the vehicle's brake pedal travels unusually farther to the floor than normal, and leads to improper and extraordinary braking techniques necessary to safely execute a stop. Putting this vehicle into the hands of a minimally experienced young driver could result in unexpected vehicle performance and loss of control. This is by no means "standard" or "normal" as my local Honda dealer says it is. This is not in line with other Honda vehicles, either; it is an aberration they are not addressing. The resulting customer dissatisfaction is mounting, and needs to be addressed by our transportation officials to force Honda to address and resolve this issue.

Brake pedal in 07 Honda Odyssey bought new (I am the first owner) is getting progressively worse. The brake function is still okay but there is a lot of "play" of the pedal before the brakes engage and this has been getting worse over time. There have been no accidents nor incidents so far but as a cautious driver I know that this problem is escalating.

Brake pedal is very low and feels soft. Honda service bulletin 07-045 issued on March 5, 2009 does not really fix the soft brake issue. It is a temporary fix and will happen again in a matter of time. There have been some accidents reported and shared in the Honda Odyssey forum.this is a very serious safety issue needed to be addressed to Honda to prevent any accidents. Please help us and others as well. The consumer also stated there was a buzz/whine noise coming from the steering when the outside temperature was below 40 degrees after driving for 30 minutes. I purchased a new 2007 Honda Odyssey in June of 2007. From the day I took it off the lot I was concerned with the squishy/soft brake pedal. I asked the dealer to look at the vehicle regarding this problem, and they did. They also said that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. I believe this is a real safety concern and feel that Honda should be addressing this problem and they're not.

2007 Honda Odyssey braking system not working good only less than 10K. Mile steering start shaking and dealer told us it is warp they charge me $99 for resurfacing rotor but after another 10K it come back again and my car steering is getting heavy again even dealer replace that already. I assume that Honda vsa or ABS not working properly some how when Honda lost very important life at highway accidents might they do something on this miserable happen. What kind car need to be resurfacing rotor every 10K mile and even I did that still on highway 70 mile drive steering make shaking and vibrating even it's resurfaced rotor.

The contact owns a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the brakes became spongy while driving approximately 35 mph and extended to the floor more frequently. The vehicle was taken the dealer and this is the third time that vsa modular will be replaced. The failure mileage was 30,000.

2007 Odyssey LX had been driven for 40 minutes when we came to a red light and braked as normal. The vehicle did not stop until halfway through the intersection. Fortunately, there was no accident. This vehicle has had soft brakes for a while so I have adjusted my braking, giving it a long run to stop, but this time even that wasn't enough. The Honda dealer told us that the braking system is working fine!

2007 Honda Odyssey brakes were spongy from day one. Inquired at the dealer and they said its normal 10K. I hate the brakes on the van since they do not stop when you want them too. Also having problems with rotors now which are warped I guess at 20K.the steering vibrates when braking. It should never happen to a newer car. All owners need to concern this problem with Honda for an recall for safety and product failure.

Soft brake with 2007 Honda Odyssey. Couldn't stop the car without slamming the brake. Took back to dealer where the car was purchased and was told the brake is fine. Took it to another dealer and they bled the brake but no improvement. Honda needs to recall or refund under lemon law.

Shuddering steering wheel and brake pulsing starting at 18K miles. Dealer says the rotors are warped, though brake pads have over 75% life left. In all our years of driving we've never had rotors needing turning or repairing in less than 40K miles. This seems like a defect to me that Honda will not take ownership for.

I have a Honda Odyssey 2009. The vehicle did not stop completely last winter approximately three times when it was completely braked. I was on a traffic light and helplessly saw my van moving towards the traffic light. Eventually it stopped. However, it scared me a lot. I went and complained to dealer and he said that there is no recall notice. This problem does not happen every time. I have another problem when I apply brakes. It appears that some thing is jerking or vibrating when I brake.

Ref PE09024 and EA09014 for Honda Odyssey 2007- soft brakes required multiple dealer service to check for low pedal. Last visit with district rep from Honda prompted service to fix agreed to low pedal problem. Fix was an improvement but brakes remain soft and at times on a long downward hill, brakes can still slowly sink to floor. Pumping of brakes is then required to restore pedal height. I will not allow other persons to drive this car because of this risk. Honda did a fix on Jan 09 to EA09014 with improved height but problem still exists with soft pedal and drop on rare occasions. Owner frustration has prevented further acton until this opportunity.

I bought my Odyssey 2007 in Nov. 2007, and it has always had a very soft pedal, meaning, you have to push the pedal far down before you even begin to stop. When I have to stop suddenly, I have to push it all the way to the floor. I live in a small town so I just don't drive close to anyone and stay away from city driving because I do not trust my brakes to stop short. It occurs every time I have to stop suddenly. If I know the stop light is going to turn, I slow down by applying the brake for a long time before it will make a complete stop. I will never buy an Odyssey again and if they would do a recall, I would certainly bring it in to get it fixed. Apparently, Honda does not think they have a problem but it is a well known fact amongst Odyssey owners!

Brakes feel squishy for late model car, seems to get worse. Haven't had a crash, but read recently announced engineering probe related to this issue and thought I'd chime in. Honda's stance on this, from the docs posted in conjunction w/ the launch of the engineering probe, seems to be basically after a couple years the brakes will not engage (pedal will hit floor before engaging), but hopefully before this the user will know because the travel distance of pedal will gradually increase. Are you kidding me"!?!" this is scary! most of the soccer moms I know that drive Odyssey will* even feel the squishy brakes -- they'll just think it to be normal B/C in most cars the problem is stable -- doesn't get worse! maybe the recall should be "if you see an Odyssey coming', get the heck out of the way! !" please force a recall before somebody gets killed! shame on Honda for such a dumb-headed response to this serious issue.

While driving my 2007 Honda Odyssey, I have rolled through either a stop light or stop sign on three instances. I was pressing the brake in a manner that I believed was sufficient to stop the vehicle, but rolled approximately 1 car length past the targeted stopping point. To date, I have not been involved in a crash and there have been no injuries. I plan on contacting the dealership to inspect the vehicle because it should still be under warranty and I have read that there is an open investigation for other vehicles having the same problem.

The brakes on the vehicle feel squishy and soft, especially after the car has been driven for a while. For example, coming to a stop last Wednesday at a red light, the brake pedal continued traveling until it almost touched the floor as the vehicle came to a stop. This is not the first time it has happened. I have adjusted my braking to account for longer travel of the pedal but this time it just seemed a little too long. I took it to the dealer today at tarrytown Honda, explained the problem along with the Honda service bulletin 07-045 that might be applicable and they said everything was normal. Such a long pedal travel for braking just doesn't feel normal in general but it may be that it is normal for this vehicle. In that case, all owners should be properly informed so that they can adjust their braking habits and expectations.
