Steering wheel is hard to turn quickly at low speeds, and while at parking. I knew that was a problem in 2010 in thousand of these vehicle, which Honda replaced the part, with two efforts, after being supplied with wrong part in the past. I took my car to local Honda dealer today (harsons Honda), who complained the same thing, and wants me to replace the power steering pump during my timing belt change. I ask then whether they can look for, whether my van has the correct part (which probably have), but said there is a no way to check unless I have the invoice, which I definitely have not, as I purchased from a private owner. However, the symptoms look like the same (which technician complaint due to failure in power steering pump, but did not tell anything about the part, see attached report), that it is having the same issue, which thousands of Odyssey owner faced before. I want to make sure, that it has a right part on it (even aged out), or even it is fixed; it might have gone wrong. I want this issue is to be resolved as Honda should look into this serous safety issue, which Honda also admits back in 2011 (see attached).

The power steering pump in my Honda Odyssey 2007 is poorly constructed. It was giving me trouble since the beginning, but recently, the steering wheel is very hard to turn and it often gets stuck. I took it to my local midas for investigation and they are estimating the repairs due to the power steering pump needs to be replaced. The estimated charge for repair is about $870. Honda says that it's eligible for a recall repair until 2014, but they did not send me a letter or notification regarding the recall. When american Honda was contacted, they asked me to contact the service manager in my local dealership because the dealership is supposed to inform me about the recall. I called the service manager but no reply received. I am driving a unsafe vehicle with two small children and I cant afford such costly repairs.

When I am driving my van at about 65 and above and when I hit the brake the steering wheel starts to vibrate very badly. This does not happen I am driving at less than 60 mph. Every time this happens, I feel like I might crash into other vehicles or run off the road due to the vehicle becoming very unstable. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership several times but they test drive it and say that there is no issues.

The car has become increasingly hard to steer over the last two to three years to the point that it is almost impossible to turn it into parking spots or other areas at low speeds. My wife feels particularly unsafe about driving it like this, as she is afraid she will hit another car or object related to the inability to turn without manually overpowering the steering wheel. In checking for a recall, I noted that there are multiple other customer complaints with similar issue. Please address as possible. Thank you. For onset date, this is a gradually worsening issue. I would say that I first noticed slight increased resistance about 3-4 years ago. It has worsened to the point that it is now a major resistance when attempting to turn at low/minimal speed.

This vehicle is very hard to steering when it stops or in low speed. I talked with Honda customer service. They claimed that it is out of warranty. However, I found there are lots of same problems described on-line. I believe Honda should provide a service recall on this issue.

This is a known issue with the Honda Odyssey. The pump had been replaced 1 month into owning the van. Then it was replaced under recall because of the same issue and not it is doing it again. >100K miles but it had been reported multiple time and the issue could not be reproduced. It is a time issue. The more you drive it the worse it gets. There is a noise and the steering is hard. At low speed you can not turn(parking lots) or it is very hard to turn. When they drive it in the parking lot they would not get the noise. Honda told me to prove that the van was in the shop for an issue(they purge their records every 3 years). This is a known issue make them fix it...

There is no power steering in the vehicle at low speeds. Steering wheel extremely hard to turn. I have noticed you loose the power steering when turning into a parking spot or driving at low speeds (kids carpool lane). I feel that this is a safety issue because if you do not have a lot of arm strength (which a lot is needed to control car) you will not be able to control the vehicle if needed in these situations. This can be very dangerous if a vehicle cannot be controlled. The vehicle also makes a very loud noise when turning the steering wheel when the weather is cold.

Steering becomes tight and very hard at low speeds and my wife started complaining of sore arms. I tried and found it to be quite hard. Took it to the dealer and he flushed power steering fluid and charged me for it though there is a tsb on how to fix it. Took it to the tire shop and they asked me to take it to the alignment shop. Then I searched the internet and found tsb A11-039 and several other letters from Honda to customers. Honda extended the warranty but did not inform the owners!! I did not receive any communication regarding this and my vehicle does not show any open recalls in Honda website. Steering is quite critical to the vehicle and Honda should recall instead of playing with lives of customers.

The condition was first noticed shortly after aquiring the vehicle in a parking lot while trying to negotiate a turn. The vehicle steering was normal at first and then suddenly required excessive force to turn the steering wheel. Heavy braking was required to avoid a collision with another vehicle. Immediately following this experience, after getting the vehicle to a safe location, I attempted to turn the steering wheel both directions while stopped and at low speeds, (approximately 0-10 mph) and noticed the condition consistantly for approximately 2-3 minutes. I then parked the vehicle. I checked the fluid level and it was within the min and max levels. After returning to the vehicle later that day, the steering was functioning normally. The condition has since come and gone several times (approximately 1-2 times / week) and my Honda dealer has just shrugged it off saying that if I can't reproduce the problem while at their shop, there's nothing they can do. I had the same issue with a 2006 Honda Odyssey and the dealer refused to do anything about it even while under warranty. After doing some research, I have found that there are technical service bulletins issued by Honda to their dealers for this exact issue, but the dealer still refuses to correct the problem. The safety issue arrises especially when someone unfamiliar with the vehicle drives it as when my mother used my van to Transport my three children. When attempting to pull our into traffic she was unable to keep the vehicle in her lane. Fortunately the other driver was able to avoid her. I understand that vehicle components are not designed to last forever and I do not have a problem with repairs. However, this is a known issue from the manufacturer which they are very reluctant to correct. Date & mileage are approximate.

Loss of power steering & difficulty turning steering wheel. Paint on top of the roof has begun to fade. Had to replace oil pan because of lug nut damage to pan. According to the mechanic damaged was caused to the oil pan due to the quality of metal within the lug nut that is of harsher material than the oil pan. Therefore, it caused damage to the oil pan that required us to have an immediate oil pan replacement during a routine oil change.

Last fall my power steering would go out when I was decelerating or reversing started to be difficult to turn. The van would make a terrible noise when idling and you would turn the vehicle and I noticed it seemed to only be when the weather was cold. I had an auto shop evaluate it and flush it as well as place a dye to see if it was leaking and it wasn't. I went in for a recall just recently and the dealership stated I should just replace the power steering pump even though they don't know what's wrong with it. This is a known problem as multiple online consumer complaint sites have listed this problem. My concern is that if I have to drive in icy conditions to which I will have to decelerate I will have problems with steering which is not safe for myself, my children and other drivers.

I bought 2007 Odyssey at 67,000 miles. I purchased a trade-in vehicle from sterling Acura dealer, steering drifts to the right within 3 seconds, I took the van to the dealer 3 times they've switched tire positions, done the alignment still the drift to the right happens. Then they say it's because of road crowing which I totally don't accept. I read through many forums where everyone is pissed-off with this problem. I suppose Honda should fix this problem or part knowledge with the dealer on how to fix it.

Very hard to steer. It suddenly stopped smooth operation and remained hard since Mar 10th, 2014. Looks like the power steering stopped working. Feel like driving a big truck and apply a lot of power to steer. It becomes tough when the vehicle comes to a complete stop. When moving it is little okay to maneuver (still hard but manageable). I would like Honda to recall for a manufacturer defect and fix the issue.
