Letter from senator nelson on behalf on constituent, an active duty military member stationed in germany who is having problems with his 2010 Honda Odyssey (dot/I# S2012 282). The consumer stated the vehicle has an unidentified electrical and/or computer problem that triggers the anti-theft system every time he opens the doors, which cause all the power buttons inside the vehicle not to function.

In the end of August the power windows stopped working in our Odyssey. When I dropped the car off at the dealer to fix the windows, the alarm system did not recognize the keys and went off every time the dealer tried to open the door. I brought in my wife's set of keys to see if that would resolve the issue but it did not. The car no longer recognizes either key or key fob and triggers the alarm whenever I unlock and open the doors. Additionally, the unlock button on the key fob somehow caused my windows to go down so they are stuck down and no buttons, door locks, windows, power sliding doors, or rear tailgate lift work. Honda does not know what the problem is and has been resistant to help fix the ca despite it still being under warranty.

I bought this car from courtesy palm habor Honda in 2010. At 25000 miles this car died out completely on me. Not a single thing working including lights on dashboard. Car was towed to nalley Honda, brunswick ga and while it was fixed I was infm that the car had bad fuse. The same was reported to american Honda prior to towing. American Honda has not taken this matter seriously saying if this happens again please call us back again. What if this happens while I am on road with my family. Prior to this car I had another 2010 Honda Odyssey which had same issues and with pressure I had to ask courtesy palm habor Honda to replace me with new one which they did. This is something serious which american Honda didn't believe to address and just walked away. Previous VIN I had was [xxx]. who is going to be responsible if the same thing happens after the mfg warranty is over from american Honda. I have addressed the issue to the dealer I bought from but they too have responded well to the issue and left me saying nalley Honda will take care of the issues. I have just bought a 2010 Honda Odyssey on October 16, 2009. On January 16, 2010, I was driving in New York city traffic stopped at a light behind several cars. Suddenly the car's engine started to race and lurched forward even with my foot on the brake. For several seconds the car kept lurching forward as I tried to step down on the brake even harder. As suddenly the unintended acceleration stopped. I came within inches of crashing into the car in front of me. I have four passengers in the car who witnessed this event at the time.
