The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving at approximately 68 MPH, the vehicle intermittently stalled, and there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. No warning light was illuminated. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure persisted. The contact was informed that the VIN was included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and it was determined that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer again and was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

The check engine light on my 2018 Honda Odyssey has been on since January 2024. We took it to the dealer (Music City Honda - Mt. Juliet, TN) and they claimed the 02 sensors were bad. We paid $500 to have these replaced, but the light came back on. We then received the recall for the fuel pump module. We have tried twice since May 2024 to get the part under recall replaced but have been told both times that the part is unavailable. The dealer claimed that we could bring it in but if the issue is not determined to be related to the recall, we will have the pay the diagnostic fee. Not only is my check engine light on (it says Emissions System Problem), but my car stalls while driving. This poses a significant safety risk for myself and my family, and Honda is refusing to do their part to remedy the issue at no cost.

Had about 4 incidences that van completely stalled while driving when coming to a stop. about a week later, was driving the van at approximately 6o mph when it completely shut down, had to pull over immediately to get off road. came to a fast stop. was thankful no other cars were behind us when it happened, feel they would have hit us as the vehicle shut down so quickly. there were no warning lamps or messages indicating any issues. My husband changes the oil/services it according to the manufacturer guidance. Was told by the local mechanic the engine is locked up, would need replaced. Called Honda to report, and since we do not service it at a Honda dealership, they would not assist.

I was driving on the interstate at 80 mph when my engine suddenly failed. The check engine light began to flash, the car began shaking, and there was a very loud thumping from the motor. Thankfully, I was able to pull off the road to safety. Honda diagnosed the problem this morning. They said a connecting rod bearing rotted out, so the engine threw a rod. There is a recall addressing this exact issue for my model year, but my VIN was not included in the recall. Doing a quick google search, I found several other owners of 2018 odysseys in the same boat - sudden engine failure due to a thrown rod, but their VIN wasn't included in the recall. I drive my car a lot, so it has 140,000 miles on it already. This makes me think that I'm likely to be in the early wave of vehicles experiencing sudden engine failure due to an issue with the conn rod bearing. Someone else may not get so lucky and be able to pull off the interstate when their engine blows. The repair is going to cost me approximately $8,000. Once I have the invoice and other documentation available, I'll share it here. I didn't want to delay sharing this information until after the repair is done, though, because if Honda doesn't expand their recall to include more 2018 Odysseys, someone else isn't going to get as lucky as me, and injury or death are a real likelihood. (Plus, having your engine suddenly fail is just a bummer regardless.)

When trying to accelerate from a stop either in an intersection or from a driveway the vehicle takes a long moment before it responds... leaving my family vulnerable to cars coming from the opposite direction. I think it's the transmission but it could have to do with the fuel intake... it has been ongoing for months and months. The dealer has attempted to rectify but to not avail....very dangerous

UNKNOWN At random times I will push the gas pedal and the car does not engage at all to move. I will lift my foot up and down trying to engage the engine and it won-??t. After a few times it will catch and the car takes off making the tires squeal, spin or jerk. It happens at random times, no warnings whatsoever that there-??s a problem. It is very dangerous at intersections when turning left on green lights, when pulling out of parking lots. It-??s to the point I am afraid to drive it at busy traffic times because it happens so often and I-??m afraid of getting hit while my car will not move. We have told the dealership and they suggested we wait for the fuel pump recall to be readily available. I looked in forums and this seems to be a major problem for many other owners of the 2018 or newer. It started approximately two years ago and continues to happen, in fact happening more often.

My 2018 Honda Odyssey van have had persistent acceleration hesitations after completed stops, especially during making left or right turns at street intersections since July 2022. This car normally hesitates for 2 to 3 seconds after accelation pedad is pressed before suddently jumps forward. Acceleration hesitation for few seconds, during making a turn, is very dangerous due to in coming cars in my opinion; as a result, we have tried to avoid using my odyssey van as much as possible due to potential accidents when making a turn with this Honda van.

We started hearing a metal knocking type noise on start-up and acceleration. We took it to a mechanic who diagnosed it as a rod-bearing problem. Then we took it to the Honda dealership thinking it was related to recall 23V751000 which also deals with 2018 Honda Odysseys, but for some reason our VIN was not included in that recall even though our problem sounds exactly like what is mentioned in the recall. The dealership said we are 6 months out of warranty and would therefore need a new engine. I used one costs $9,000 and a new one would be $22,000.

We encountered a total engine failure while driving down a Montana highway in our 2018 Honda Odyssey. In the car were my partner and I, an elderly person, and a child. We had to wait over 2 hours for a tow truck in extreme heat in a dangerous location. There were no warning indications before the failure.

I have a 2018 odyssey and have only had it for about 6 months. One of the biggest issues I-??ve noticed is when I go to accelerate, the car does not go right away. I have to push down hard on the pedal and the tires spin, resulting in the van lurching then accelerating quickly. This has caused MANY moments of panic as I-??ve gone to accelerate to pull into traffic or to drive across a main road and it-??s stalled for a moment then lurches into accelerating. I-??m a careful driver and have always used acceleration in moderation and try to ease into it. This van does not allow that. You will try to press down on the pedal to slowly accelerate with nothing happening, then it-??s like it connects and plows forward. Tires spinning and all.

This complaint is related to the recall issued for the fuel pump repairs. The car hesitates when starting from a stop. The hesitation is alarming enough during left turns to avoid on-coming traffic. The dealer and Ameican Honda has been made aware of this. However, the local dealer is refusing to prioritize the repair. The local dealer (Economy Honda of Chattanooga) states that they will prioritize the repairs only when the car comes to complete stop. With this kind of policy of the local dealer, I do not know when the repairs will be done. The car is used to transport four children and the family. Please help getting the repairs done as soon as possible. The safety of children and the family is at stake. This occurs all the time when the car is used. This car had two issues: 1) Fuel pump recall 2) Fuel injector warrantee repairs. Attached is a letter to the dealer about both problems. The dealer has addressed the fuel injector warrantee repair issue. However, they are totally refusing to prioitize the fuel pump repairs unless the car comes to complete stop. The dealer has been made aware of the issue in a letter dated June 20, 2024 written by my father Also, a case has been registered with American Honda in this matter. American Honda is refusing to do anything until the dealer prioritizes the reapairs. Neither American Honda or the dealer are priritizing the repairs and expects us to drive the car under current unsafe condition. Please help.

2018 Honda Odyssey failed transmission systems. This vehicle had recalls in regard to TCM module and softwares in past. Normally transmission system should last well over 150,000 miles for this type of vehicle. My car failed at 74000 miles. That too without any advanced warning. Vehicle was maintained and serviced at same dealership regularly where it was purchased. Honda is claiming its outside their 60000 mile powertrain warranty. Honda expects me to pay over 10,000 dollars for repair. I believe my vehicle is having issues with transmission related to TCM module recall of 2019 and Recall 04v176 of 2023. Honda is refusing to look in to possibility of my vehicle's issue could possibly related to those recalls. I believe those recalls need to be looked at and my vehicle should have been involved in those recalls. I have documented proof for all services performed and current vehicle inspection report.

My 2018 Honda Odyssey doesn't have any current vehicle recalls but it's is experiencing the engine stall while driving, the power sliding floors not locking properly and the power trunk making a grinding noise when it opens and closes. I had the vehicle inspected at the local Honda dealership and they told me there was nothing they could do about the vehicle stalling, the power doors not closing and the trunk grinding. From releasing the brake and pressing the gas, the vehicle will stall and then spin the tires as if I'm racing or burning rubber.

Vehicle stalls when pulling out into traffic! Terrifying with my 6 kids and I'm immediately getting rid of this vehicle. Tried to have the fuel pump (current recall) replaced but Honda dealership has the vehicle for 6 DAYS! and still didn't have the part in. Upon dropping the vehicle off the tailgate lift would not work properly. This van is a load of garbage since they started using so many modules to control it! Extremely disappointed in Honda. They know all of these faulty parts and don't care enough to fix them for the safety of the consumer. Absolutely horrifying the direction of the automobile industry.

Knocking noise began so I took it to a Honda dealership. They said I have a -??lower knock noise-?? and need a new engine because a bearing went out for a rod which could cause my engine to seize. Though there is a recall for some 2018 odysseys, I-??m being told mine isn-??t covered. Apparently there are many more people with the same vehicle and the same issue as me. I-??d like to see this included in the recall

When driving the engine starting making a loud metallic noise. The engine also was not operating as it should have been. This occurred in early March 2023. I was able to slowly drive it to the Honda dealership in Glenwood Springs and when I stopped the engine stopped, I was unable to restart it. After several weeks, the Honda dealership stated it needed a new Engine. Initially I was quoted around 12k, then they offered a good will discount and we got the replacement to be around 6k. In late 2023, I saw that there was a recall on 2018 Honda Odysseys for an engine defect that could cause the engine to "run improperly or stall while driving." This is essentially what happened to me, but my vehicle is not on the recall list limiting Honda's requirement to fully cover the cost of replacing the engine.

On the week of May 3rd my car began to shift into different gears with no notice or reason while driving, when it would do this it would show a warning signal on the dash that stated"transmission issue!" And the gear letter would flash on the dash. I brought the car in to the dealership it was purchased from (Ira Honda Saco, ME) as the car was shifting into reverse and park while driving causing significant safety issues for myself and my children in the car. When I arrived I was told there was issue with loaners although the service employee was great in helping me find one eventually that day as I'm a solo parent with multiple children. However, when I brought the car I said there was a recall on the transmission for this exact issue. I was told my make model and year matched but not the VIN so it couldn't be the transmission recall/issue. Then I was told the issue was the fuel injectors but that they were not covered by any warranty so I'd need to pay out of pocket. Then I was told it was partially covered and I ended up paying out of pocket for the remainder and was told the car was all set no more issues, it's fixed, completely safe to drive. Now barely 4 weeks later on 6/1024 while driving on the highway the car slams into park with the same exact warning flashing on the dash. The car behind me nearly rear ended me and my seatbelt engaged as I was going 65mph and came to a complete halt, causing bruising to my chest and collar bone. I immediately brought it back to the dealership and they suddenly say it's the transmission (like I said last month) but that it's not under warranty and is $6300 to repair that Honda can't guarantee they can cover with a claim and they also don't have a loaner or any vehicle I can use to safely transport myself or my children. Yet the only reason I am at the dealership with a car that has now twice nearly caused severe injury events or death is due to the dealership's misdiagnosis of the issue and the guarantee the car was fixed
