10/4/2023 (55K miles), the vehicle suddenly lost power at interstate speed and dropped to three cylinders. Warning lights came on disabling all automatic safety systems. I took the vehicle to a parts store and OBD indicated an oil pressure sensor in VTEC Bank 1. After restarting the vehicle I once again had all 6 cylinders, but all safety systems failures were still indicated on the dash. I replaced the battery (5.5 years old) and all systems returned to normal. After a the PGM-FI update for idle stop issues (recall) was performed at the dealer on 1/31/2024, two days later (2/2/2024) the previous event recurred resulting in severe loss of power and all safety systems indicating failure. I replaced the 4 month old battery under warranty believing the battery had failed prematurely. The problem did not resolve after replacing the battery and multiple restarts. I returned the car to the dealer service center on 2/3/2024 running on three cylinders and then suddenly 6 again after a restart part way there. Dealer diagnosed issue as intermittent fault P2652 Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Switch B (Bank 1) and replaced it at my cost but did not charge diagnoses. Operation returned to normal. ** have driven Honda vehicles for 25 years with very few issues. Something is seriously wrong in their ECU program/electrical system that causes vehicle to suddenly lose power and safety systems due to an intermittent oil pressure sensor fault. I am a Mechanical Engineer with more than 18 years working in mechanical and electrical aerospace systems. Honda needs to identify the root cause of this failure mode and issue yet another recall to address the systemic hardware and software issues. Both times this occurred, I had 4 young kids in the car and could not maintain safe interstate speed or accelerate to get on the highway.

We started hearing the ticking in October, I visited the dealership and contacted Honda multiple times and either told to take no action or wait for the recall. Case #[XXX] We expressed our concern to both the dealership and Honda about not addressing the issue because we had a big trip for Christmas coming up. My mother-in-law has terminal cancer and the entire family was getting together for Christmas with her. To get there we drive 20 hours from Arkansas to Utah. We followed the advice of the dealership and Honda and waited. Unfortunately about 50 miles out of Amarillo the van started to make loud engine noise and stalled. While going 75 miles an hour down the interstate I lost power steering and my brakes were very unresponsive. Luckily, we were in the farthest right lane and I was able to get us safely to the shoulder. We feel blessed to have made it off the road, it was a very dangerous situation. Now my van with 70K mile has a seized engine and is stuck 12 hours away in Amarillo Texas. I am requesting that Honda reimburse my rental, ship my van back home to Bentonville, and send a new engine for the dealership to fix the now seized engine. Yes the issue has been diagnosed by Brown Honda in Amarillo TX by Todd Burkham the Fixed Operations Director Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Only by Brown Honda in Amarillo TX Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" Only the ticking sound that we took the vehicle in for starting in late October. I have a 2018 Honda Odyssey Touring. On December 8th exactly one week after I had my van serviced at the local Honda Dealership I broke down on the interstate. My van started making strange noises and the check engine light started blinking. I lost all power and had to merge over to the emergency lane almost causing an accident. I contacted the service manager at the local Honda dealership. I explained to him what was going on, I also told him that I noticed a slight tapping sound the week prior and asked them to check it out when I brought it in for service on November 30th. I was told they didn't notice anything wrong and that the only thing I needed was front brake pads. Upon searching the internet I found there is currently a recall on some of the models for faulty connecting rod bearings. Preston Locklear the service manager was unaware of the recall, so I emailed him the recall service letter. He called me back to inform me that my van does not fall under the build dates approved for the recall. That afternoon the service writer called me to inform me that my engine is blown, when I asked him how they determined that his reply " we sent a tech out and he pulled the dipstick and seen metal". He then went on to say that if I want to determine the cause of the failure I would have to pay to get the oil pan dropped. When I asked ow much that would be they said they had to get back to me. They finally called me back December 22nd with a quote. I was told it would be about $600. I contacted Honda recall center and asked for help. I was assigned a case worker. He called me back December 29th saying there was no help they could offer. I had my van towed from Honda to an independent shop. They pulled the oil pan and found the #6 connecting rod bearing failed. I would like for Honda to help me with this matter. It is an obvious problem with this engine. They are o it recalling 250k but they need to recall all of them in those years.

My odyssey is running rough and Not accelerating correctly. All lights on the dash come on including emissions and power steering and traction control. I recently spent close to $3,000 doing the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, and valve adjustment. All maintenance is up to date.

Car has acceleration issues when making left turns, merging onto freeway, or passing cars on freeway. Transmission and blind spot light went on and we took car to Honda dealer. They could not find anything wrong, no codes were stored and they were not able to duplicate the issue. Scanned vehicle and unable to trace root cause. Updated TCM software which helped for about a month but acceleration issues are now back again. This is a serious safety issue as the car hesitates to accelerate. We have kept up with all car maintenance.

There-??s currently a recall on the 2018 2019 Honda odysseys. The recall is for the same as exact issue that I had with my 2018 Honda Odyssey there-??s a problem with the connecting rod bearings recall campaign number 23V751000. I-??m being told from Honda that my van does not fall into the production date range for the recall. I-??m being told that any repairs I-??m going to have to cover myself even though it-??s the same issue that the other vehicles are having. I was on the interstate traveling about 70 miles an hour. My check engine light came on blinking I lost total power I had to get out of the left lane and make it all the way to the shoulder between traffic. I had my car towed to the Honda dealership that I-??ve taken it to for every single service since I purchased the vehicle. I want to know why my vehicle is not gonna be covered under this so-called recall, if it-??s having the same as exact issues as the other vehicles and the recall. And Honda is refusing any help

Around October 29th my vehicle developed a faint to loud noise within 24 hours. There was no engine light, no leaking of fluids and no other warning. As we drove the vehicle to a repair shop I could tell there was some hesitation or lack of normal power. The shop we took my vehicle too was not able to do any repair or diagnosis so it was towed to Honda of Olathe, then New Concept Auto and finally Sallas Auto. On November 10th, I was told my engine needed to be replaced due to bearing issue. The mechanic ran diagnostic tests and did not find any past cleared codes or active codes that should have been triggered by an engine issue. My vehicle was serviced regularly. Most recent was an oil change end July/Early August, no issues were found, no metal flakes. In that short period of time my engine failed and I had to replace with a used 2018 engine. During this time we were informed by friends of the Honda Odyssey recall for 2018 engines, however upon calling Honda Corporate, I was told my specific 2018 Honda Odyssey was not included and would "not be covered at this time, if ever". My mechanic is adamant the issues listed in the recall document is the exact issue I had with my engine. On attachment please notice item 1 and 2. Also the deer note at the top of the attached invoice is determined to be a coincidence by three separate mechanics - Honda of Olathe, Sallas and New Concept Auto as well as the State Farm advisor. Manufacturing Engine damage/failure. Synthetic oil was used at all oil changes every 5K miles. However, after only 3K miles after last oil change the oil level was low and dirty. Engine light started flashing and failed to accelerate. Engine also started making a knocking noise.

For the last 3 months the car will turn on by itself and drain the battery. Went to several mechanics that could not find a reason for this issue. This weekend, while I was driving on the road, the car stopped while driving on the highway. This happened 4 times risking my life, wife, and my children. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by other owners of this car on various forums. I have not had the vehicle inspected by the manufacturer as they are trying to charged me thousands of dollars to review the issue. There were no warning lamps or signals on the car.

They said blinking engine light was due to misfire on cylinder 6. Solution is to replace fuel injectors, but the injectors are on back order with no release date. Here is what happened: 1). After the car driving for 10mins and engine warms up, stop the car, and turn off. 2). Turn on the car again, it shows message such as "Emissions System Problem", "Transmission problem", "Blind Spot Info System Problem" at the same time. The computer locks the car that doesn't allow the Transmission to change from "P" to "R", "N", or "D" position. The car fails to drive. 3). Leave the car for few hours and let the engine compartment cool down first, turn on the car again and those messages go away, and the car can drive. 4). After driving for a while, it repeats the problem from 1) ~ 3).

This vehicle has had numerous electrical issues, culminating in the need for three batteries in a six year. Period. From day one there were electrical issues with the auto stop start and the car in one occasion the battery completely died. Honda was unable to identify the issue and electrical issues. Continue to happen. in the last 18 months I-??ve had numerous occasions where this auto stop start would engage at a stoplight stop sign in the middle of busy traffic, but would not start back up. I took it in for service and they cannot re-create or identify the issue. This is very scary when it happens as I have been on start and go traffic on the interstate on busy intersections and the car will not move nor can it be restarted for 5 to 10 minutes. Honda offers no solution to this dangerous problem. After months of not being able to fix this. Identify a problem the car no longer moves into reverse consistently Honda recommends new transmission. After becoming frustrated with Honda and feeling unsafe with my family in this vehicle, I had to trade it in for a new vehicle as no solutions were offered to make me feel safe driving it or to get it repaired effectively or identify why it keeps needing new batteries and has electrical dysfunction since purchase

Recently started to experience this issue. I have 41,000miles on this 2018 Honda Odyssey. It Jerks & delayed acceleration/hesitation upon acceleration while driving between 20-??35mph on local roads. It happens mostly with slowing down in traffic or upon stopping at stop sign & accelerating again. I am not experiencing this issue with freeway driving. I went to the dealership where I bought the car from. They asked me for $280 to just diagnose the problem, but I refuse to pay for just to diagnose. Currently, I am trying to research out my own. As the dealership has no clue about the issue. Please provide me with any related complaints & resolution for this problem.

When the vehicle-??s auto start-stop feature is active, the feature will malfunction causing the engine to not start properly. Instead, the vehicle stalls and must be restarted manually. However, there are many occasions when the vehicle does not start manually either. In these cases, it takes many attempts to restart the vehicle. While these events are happening, the vehicle displays an error message for the auto start-stop feature on the instrument cluster, and the instrument cluster will flicker on and off. The events often occur during the middle of an intersection and attempting to turn in front of oncoming traffic. It creates a very dangerous situation. the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others because the issue occurs regularly, and the dealership has asked us to come back when the problem is occurring. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. However, there are other Honda vehicles (e.g., Honda Pilot) which have the exact same issue, and a recall has been issued for those vehicles but not the Honda Odyssey.

In two separate incidents, my vehicle stalled when it tried to restart after being in Auto Idle Stop mode. In both incidents, I was stopped at an intersection where I was making an unprotected left turn. As I was stopped, the Auto Idle Stop mode activated on my Honda Odyssey which turned off the engine. When it was clear to make a left turn, I lifted my foot off the gas which disabled Auto Idle Stop mode. As my engine tried to restart, it stalled. I was able to get it to restart but only after being stalled in traffic for several seconds causing other drivers to honk at me. When my engine restarted, several warning lights lit up on my dashboard for about a second and a warning alarm sounded. Since they were illuminated for such a short period and I was actively trying to clear the intersection, I was not able to see which lights they were but I do remember that one of the lights that lit up in the first incident was the sliding door warning light. The first incident happened in May 2023 when I had about 99,000 miles on my van. The second incident happened in July 2023 with approximately 101,000 miles on my van. The problem happens at seemingly random times and has not been able to be reproduced. There were no other warnings prior to the problem happening. Since my van randomly stalled in the middle of an intersection, I believe this problem posed a safety risk to myself and my occupants as well as other drivers near me. Had I not been able to get my van restarted, I would have been at risk of being hit by oncoming cars. Even the few-second delay in restarting could have been catastrophic had an oncoming car been approaching quickly. I have had no issues with the starter on my van or with issues stalling other than these incidents. The stalls have only occured when coming out of Auto Idle Stop mode. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently deactivate this mode. It automatically turns on each time I start up my car.

Five years old vehicle jerked and almost came to a complete stop. Engine transmission services warning popped up as soon as the jerk happened the first time. Another warning came up as well. Jerking happens at least every mile. Car full of young kids jerked and almost came to a complete stop on the road and highway. Multiple moving vehicles were near when this occurred, which could have resulted in a terrible accident. Honda dealer said this is due to front camshaft and sensor. No engine warning regarding this problem showed up prior to this jerking. This first appeared on June 23, 2033.

I am having an identical issues as described in NHTSA ID Number 11526094. Vehicle hesitates when accelerating from a stop. Have been almost hit a couple times as it is unpredictable when this happens. This is a dangerous behavior and I cannot in clear conscience sell this minivan to another family. I have returned it to the dealer multiple times and they were eventually able to reproduce the problem and captured the behavior on diagnostic equipment. Their finding is that when the accelerator is slightly pressed, and then release (like one might do when entering an intersection to make a left hand turn) the transmission jumps to 5th gear. When the accelerator is pressed to complete the left turn, the transmission spends several seconds shifting from 4th to 3rd to 2nd before finally accelerating. This delay opens up the opportunity to get hit. The dealer concurred that this was a problem but then contacted Honda and they said this is normal characteristic with 2018 and 2019 model Odyssey's with the 9 speed transmission. This may be a normal characteristic with this model year according to Honda but it is not acceptable behavior for any type of vehicle. It is just a matter of time before an accident will happen. It happens often and seems to be getting worse over time including irregular/rough shifts while driving. See attached documentation.
