Purchased a new Honda RTL-E Ridgeline 3 days ago... Traded in a 2017.. Both have auto high beam feature.. The 2022 is erratic, at times fails to operate (engage the high beams even after surpassing the 45 MPH cut in speed. In addition to that, the high beams fail to remain on even when there is no oncoming traffic or fail to disengage etc.. This is not caused by ambient outside light or reflections off road signage, as I know how they worked and worked very well on my 2017.. The defective system create a major safety hazard as they almost always fail to turn off with oncoming traffic.. So drivers are blinded by High Beams and the driver of the Ridgeline expects them to turn off, hesitates expecting them to work before they realize they are not going to turn off... This not only impacts the on coming driver, but could be a good road rage problem, cause an accident and lastly cause the driver to be issued a ticket. if the oncoming vehicle, is coming around a bend and there is a perfect alignment of the two vehicles they must turn off, but they don't, blinding the oncoming driver. They do not work period and are a serious safety hazard.. Honda needs to resolve this ASAP..

Auto high beams consistently fail to turn on or off at appropriate times, rendering them unreliable and unsafe. I was forced to disable them because of several incidents in which they failed to stay on while driving on dark rural roads or failed to turn off with oncoming traffic.

Honda eliminated the dedicated automatic high beam camera and moved the functionality into the shared "multi-purpose" camera that is also used for Honda Sensing features and raised the activation speed. These changes not only ruined the automatic high beam function, but made it dangerous at times. The automatic high beams rarely work in my neighborhood which has zero street lamps and I was told by the dealer that it is supposed to operate that way.

My vehicle has automatic high beam headlights. They do not function properly - they will cycle on and off when there is no traffic ahead or oncoming, but most seriously they often fail to dim when there is oncoming traffic. This issue appears to be endemic with the 2022 Honda Ridgeline, many users report the same.

The automatic high beam system is very erratic. It fluctuates between high and low beam randomly on rural roads when it should be in steady high beam. It also randomly changes to high beam when oncoming vehicles are approaching causing the other driver to be blinded and flash their high beams. Vehicle has been in for service twice and the service center says the system is functioning as designed. I have a 30 minute video available which shows the erratic function as well as the high beam at oncoming traffic if needed. It is more than 3 GB large and exceeds your file limitations.. This is an ongoing problem that occurs whenever the automatic high beam function is activated. I only turn it on to get video documentation of the problem.

The Automatic High Beams do not always turn off when an oncoming vehicle approaches. There seems to be an issue with the way the system operates in general. They do turn on when expected. They stay on when they should be off. They shut off when they should be on. Dealer states that they do not detect any fault codes in the system and can not troubleshoot any further. Dealer loaned me a 2020 CRV that performed as expected under the same driving conditions. There seems to be a lot of complaints on the internet over the past couple of years. Surprised that Honda has not fixed this safety issue. Thanks!
