On April 14th 2017 my wife was involved in a car accident where she hydroplaned off of an onramp at 60-65mph as she was getting on the highway and rolled her 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The side impact and side curtain airbags never deployed. At the time of the accident she was a month and a half pregnant. I her husband called Hyundai while at the hospital. I let them know that "none" of the airbags deployed and they said that they would start a case. I also let the company know where the car was being sent which was a Hyundai dealership in town and asked if they would check the airbags which "never happened". the car was repaired and we picked up the car on May 4th 2017. We have been in constant contact with Hyundai about the airbag situation and we feel that they never really took it seriously. My wife's car has been sitting in our driveway since May 4th, 2017 not being driven due to (a) my wife being afraid of the car and not feeling safe inside. (B) not knowing about the airbags and the "ongoing investigation". fast forward to today September 20th, 2017 I received an email from Hyundai saying that due to them not being able to check the car and airbags out "post-accident they were unable to find any faults in the airbags, and then they go no to say that the Elantra's side curtain airbags are not supposed to deploy in a rollover accident. My wife was traveling at between 60 and 65 mph when she lost control of her Elantra and I can not understand why they (a) did not check the airbags when the car was at a certified dealer/repair shop and (B) why they are telling us that the side curtain airbags were not supposed to deploy in a rollover. From the research that I have done in any rollover the side impact and side curtain airbags are supposed to deploy in a rollover. I do have picture and emails fro the accident and emails from Hyundai.

Airbag light come on yesterday (9-19-17) while car was in motion and will not turn off now. After researching the issue, it appears to be a rather common problem. Also stated airbag will not deploy in the event of a collision.

The airbag warning light came on on my dashboard a few days ago and has been on ever since. I have read on several online forums how several other people have been having the same issue and how this means that the airbag will not deploy during a collision. This is a serious safety issue and the dealerships should be charging over $250 to correct this defect. I have not yet been in an accident, but I don't want to wait until then for someone to take action. Thank you.

"takata recall" my husband, daughter, and I were in an accident with a driver of a mini van who blew a stop sign on a city street. The driver of the van was ticketed. The van's airbags went off as the photo shows. Our 2013 Elantra air bags did not as the photos show. I was in the front passenger seat. All of us had seatbealts on but I suffered blunt chest trauma and a concussion. The vehicle airbag book says their is a sensor in the front center of the car that detects 30 degrees either way. Look at the photos - failed to detect and deploy in our case.

On April 14th 2017 I got into a car accident where I ended up on my drivers side in a ditch and my side impact airbags never deployed. We have been in constant contact with Hyundai since than with no resolution. We have before the car got fixed and after the car got fixed pictures of the airbags and you can clearly see where someone had tampered with them. My car has been sitting in our driveway since May 4th not being driven because we don't feel safe driving it not knowing if the airbags are going to work if we need them too and we were told to not use it by Hyundai until someone from Hyundai could come and inspect the car, which they never did. I also have all the phone calls we have ever made to Hyundai written down including times, dates, who we talked to and what we talked about, all the emails sent back and forth with Hyundai we also have printed. It has gotten to a pint now that we actually got the BBB and the North Carolina state attorney general involved. I have included the pictures my husband took of the drivers side and passenger side airbags.

The vehicle sustained severe front end damage and was destroyed, but the air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained injuries to the neck, back, shoulder, and stomach. Medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 45,000.

Air bag light came on while driving. Went on and off intermittently for several weeks. Is now almost always on, but on rare occasions will turn off only to come back on later. 77000 miles on car, so not in warranty. Symptoms seem similar to earlier recall of Hyundai vehicles for defective clock springs.

It was Jan 8, 2017 and it had been raining. My son was driving the vehicle and he hydroplaned on the freeway going 55-60 mph. The vehicle did a 90 degree turn on the freeway and hit a guard rail. Both my son and grand daughter had whiplash but no other visible signs. The air bags did not deploy. I opened a claim with Hyundai. They sent an private inspector and Hyundai determined that the air bags should not have deployed (see attached)

While driving up over a mountain pass the airbag deployed warning lights were lit and the low tire pressure light lit. I stopped and checked the tires. The right rear tire had a hole in the sidewall. There was no impact with any vehicle or hillside. This road has quite a few turns and is a narrow two lane mountain pass. ( gates pass, tucson Arizona.

My airbag light was off and on for about a month and now it is a steady light. The repair shop I took it to said I needed a clock spring and a new driver air bag. They also said I might need another part. Total cost of all of this will be around $1600. Since my car has over 100,000 miles, it is not under warranty. I've noticed other people are complaining about the airbag light.

1. airbag light has been turning on. No apparent reason but I was told that if in an accident will not deployed. Since 10/12/2016 2. suspension is not the greatest, car will swirled sometimes if exceeding 40mph hello I live in puerto rico there is no such thing as 40mph in our roads... 3. tire sensors are constantly braking. 4. front headlights seems get humidity when it rains or get too cold. 5. brakes sometimes do not work as they should, I stop and it seems to keep going I would have to brake again to make it stop and these is not going more than 40 mph.

I have noticed that my vehicle's airbag light is turning on and off while the vehicle is in motion on a city street and on highways. I do not know what triggers it to turn off and on. It also turns on and off while the vehicle is not in motion. I believe this is a major security issue because if I am involved in a major car crash and the airbags are not on then I will not be secured.

My 19 year old daughter was in an accident on April 9th 2016 in her 2013 Hyundai Elantra.. both vehicles were at a dead stop at an intersection before either of them started moving. My daughter was going straight and the other vehicle was turning, both of which were going approximately 10 mph. My daughters car hit the front fender of the other vehicle causing a bent wheel and a small dent to the fender. My daughters Hyundai, totaled. Every airbag in the Hyundai deployed, including the back seat which seemed strange since it was a frontal crash. The transmission wouldn't go in to any other gear it was stuck in drive. The hood was smashed up to the front windshield. The damage to the car was over $12,000 there has to be some faulty part(s) or equipment on the car to cause such damage at such low speeds. I can't imagine what could happen at highway speeds in a crash in a Hyundai. I wrote to Hyundai about safety concerns of their Hyundai Elantras, their response was unacceptable: "we understand that you are dissatisfied with the design of the 2013 Elantra and we apologize for any disappointment this has caused you. This information has been forwarded to all appropriate parties within Hyundai for review, including Hyundai management." Really Hyundai! people can be severely injured or die in these vehicles which I feel Hyundai needs to be a little more concerned.

My son had an accident on the street where we live coming home one night, he fell asleep and he ran into a parked pick up on the right side of the street and the had lots of front end damage, the car was a total loss. He hit his face on the steering wheel during the accident, the air bag(s) did not deploy. My son's face was horribly swollen, he also ended up with a blacken, blood shot eye as well and I had to take him to the doctor to seek medical treatment.

Takata recall. The airbag light is on since December 23rd 2015, I went to the rick case Hyundai dealer in davie, fl and they told me the warranty expires"?, how come a warranty for a mechanic part that is not in use, mean the airbags have never been deployed, can expire?", I am very concern for my wife, daughter and me safety and afraid to use the car for long trips.
