The vehicle fishtales and mishandles on the highway especially at higher speeds 40-60. I have to grip the steering wheel tight to have safe control. At times it is a whiteknuckling experience. I just bought the car 7 weeks ago. The dealer has reassured me on 3 visits to service that it is safe. However there is something defect with this vehicle and I dont feel safe driving it.

I purchased my car in 2015. I was loving this car until I was on wet/bumpy roads. I applied the brakes to stop. The Hyundai started making a grinding noise.when I applied the brakes it felt like the brakes was going all the way to the floor. When it is snowing I can't drive the car because the brake gets locked up and makes a lot of noise. This car is dangerous to drive in inclement weather. Also this car suspension is horrible. You feel all the bumps in the road. Hyundai needs to do a recall on this car. Most of my problems with this car was driving in the city. Driving on wet roads coming to a stop or hitting a bump in the road. The car swerves and make aloud grabbing noise. Sounds like the brakes are coming up through the floor. I love the car but don't love the way it drives. I had to replace the front rotors and brake pad with a full alignment. This vehicle still drives the same way even when all this work was completed.

Owned vehicle for 3 years, have been noticing a few problems with the vehicle that is the result of the poor suspension. The mil came on today hinting to possible sensor issues, the vehicle also constantly shakes and trembles when idle. The core of the problems appears to be the result of poor suspension as the vehicle rocks up and down after hitting any idea speed bump, hill or pothole. It puts drivers at a difficult position since the rocking of the vehicle causes it to jump over to the right when you are on a highway. Please serious look into this. Every dealership is advising this is normal but no other vehicle does this.

I have taken my Hyundai Elantra into red mccombs Hyundai in san antonio tx. On I-10 West several times only to be told that there was nothing wrong wit the struts. And they did work on the surging part of the engine but it still surges when speeding up. I was told by Firestone that the struts needed to be replaced, and I was told by two different mechanics here in kerrville, tx the same thing but they said I was under warranty and should take it back to the dealer and insist they repair it. So I'll try one more time. The front end makes a loud clicking sound when taking off and feels like it bottoms out when you hit a bump. It is a bit nerve racking. The last mechanic told me to take it back to the dealer on 3/14/2016. This problem is two years old now, [xxx] 'information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).'

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that the suspension caused the tires to become flat when driving over a pothole at speeds between 30-60 mph. The contact had to replace the tires four times in two weeks. In addition, the tires experienced bubbles in the sidewalls. The tires had to be replaced due to the safety risk involved. The contact stated that the tires were replaced a total of six times. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000. The VIN was not available.

Is has been 2 years now since I have owned the 2013 Hyundai Elantra. I have brought the vehicle in the dealer approximately 15 times for suspension and steering problems. The vehicle handles poorly on pretty much any road condition. The vehicle will sway and jump over every bump or crack in the road. It is very difficult to keep the vehicle straight in a lane and feel you have to constantly correct the steering wheel. I have to whitenuckle the steering wheel to keep control of the vehicle. The suspension has been clunky since day one and the dealership finds nothing wrong! there are numerous complaints of the same issues. Hyundai needs to step it up and protect the owners of these vehicles before something tragic happens!

While driving my car on uneven roadways the rear of the car likes to fish tail..ie pot holes, rough roads etc.. the front of the car always wants to sway back and forth on any type to road surface as it fells like the car is not connected to the road. Windy days are even worst and passing semi's is just as bad. You consistently have to fight with the steering wheel and it seems to be a unsafe car. We need a recall to solve this problem...also my steering wheel is making a knocking sound and pops when turning and it happens all day long

Rear of the vehicle tends to fishtail or sway at speeds above 40 mph while operating on snow covered roads, during rainy road conditions, when the vehicle travels uneven pavement such a steel bridge deck joints. I checked and there were approximately 20 simliar complaints in the first 80 complaints that I looked at. So 25% percent of the first 80 complaints that I looked at for against this car are similar in nature. These condition is very dangerous and should be addressed. I called the dealership and he declined to say there are any known issues as described. I just mounted my winter tires and was made aware of severe wear as if only 1/3 of tire is actually in contact with the road surface. If this is the case, that would explain why the car is unstable in poor weather conditions. I just had the alignment checked and it was fine. The poor design of the rear end as far as tracking goes could explain why tires are wearing out prematurely and why the vehicles fishtail. The first time I took the car on the open road, 3 days after I purchased the car, is when I noticed the problem. The Elantra feels like it's wants to fishtail every time I drive over a small pothole or slightly uneven pavement. I would only be traveling around 65 mph, so I wasn't going very fast. Also, any little cross breeze (12-15 mph) will cause the car to swerve all over the place, to the point that I have to get off the highway and take the access roads. There is something very wrong with this suspension and something must be done to resolve the problem before someone gets killed, if it hasn't happened already.

When I was driving the vehicle in a rainy and windy weather with a speed of 35-40 mph on a highway I realized that the vehicle is sliding on the road! it really slid on the road and the wind pushed the car to the left. I was holding the steering wheel so hard and reduced my speed a little bit. When this happened I remember many other similar moments I had experienced. In fact, whenever there is a little bump in front of me and I move over it the car becomes very unstable and I feel I cannot control it for less than half a second. If I move over more uneven parts of road the car becomes very unstable. This happens if my speed is over 20mph and with small bumps! again last night, right after the first incident, I was stopped at traffic light at an intersection of two highways. When the light turned green and I was turning left with a speed less than 15mph the rear wheels were sliding so bad that for a moment I thought I won't be able to control the vehicle and will definitely crash into something! it was an amazingly scaring experience. I just don't know what is going on with the car's suspension.

I just purchased this car about a month ago. I noticed much like numerous complaints similar to mine that when I hit bumps or potholes or uneven roads, it seems to sway. Almost feels like you are losing control. I am starting to think this might be a major issue and might result in serious injury or death. Which in turn may result in major lawsuits. If I were the NHTSA I would seriously open a investigation! now! do it now please before people get killed!

They car drives fine until you hit a any sort of bump or hole in the road. When that happens the back end wiggles and in the rain it is much worse. It is even worse on the highway going at a higher speed. I have read several other complaints online with drivers facing similar issues. I am worried that it will one day lose control. I do not feel like I am in control of the car, I've taken it to the dealer several times and they say everything is fine and that is just how the car drives.

While driving at speeds between 35-75 the sways side to side. You have to constantly fight the car from the swaying and if there is a bump or uneven pavement it is even worse. If you hit a pothole or bump in the road the rear of the car will jump out and you fill out of control. The steering is like an 1980's vehicle with all the back and forth on the steering wheel. This is the worst driving car I've ever had...please help fix my car and all the others that have probllems. I've did bring it to a dealership and of course they said everything was good but its not.

This has been an ongoing issue, when hitting any type of bump in the road, the rear of the car feels like it is going to fishtail, worse on wet roads. The ABS brakes work and then they don't, the steering will feel loose and then tight. I have noticed there is a lot of complaints about the car feeling like it is going to fishtail or has when hitting bumps and yet, no recall is forced on Hyundai. I guess it takes a fatality to get anything done. A car should never feel like it is going to fishtail when hitting bumps. The engine hesitates when going uphill or when accelerator is pressed quickly.

As soon as I bought my car and drove it away, I noticed that it fish tails when it drives over uneven roads or potholes. My first time on the freeway with it was definitely a frightening experience. As soon as I hit about 60 mph I was fishtailing so bad that I had to death grip my steering wheel with both hands until I could exit off. I feared for my life, I seriously felt like I was going to lose control of my vehicle and crash. I try to avoid the freeway as much as I can. I don't know if the back end is too light weight or what, but this issue really needs to be investigated. The loss of control over a vehicle is a huge deal and can lead to fatalities.
