The engine block blew, a few days after getting an oil change and seeing a mechanic about the ticking sound in the engine. 53k miles on it. I was told by the dealerships service/mechanic shop as well as other mechanics that there was a hole in the engine. The car had starting issues along with a ticking or clapping sound in the engine, mechanics couldn't figure it out, the last time it ran I turned the engine off to get gas and started it again going uphill, it didn't go past 20mph uphill before I heard the engine shutoff, I pulled over, tried to start it and the engine smoked and popped.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" Yes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Some, but we were not on a highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Reproduced as heard before yes, 7 plus times. No independent service or dependent. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet as in the process of trying via our Hyundai Crestmont Service. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning of lights or lamps. The rest described briefly below. Our vehicle is a Hyundai; Vin # [XXX], year 2014, purchased 3/22/15, mileage 16,000 or so On April 1, 2021, snow of 5-7 inches and a cold snap of 41 degrees happened in Cleveland Ohio where we were uncostumarily were out and about, we audibly witnessed the noise under the hood and felt the right side brakes failure. I have experienced these noises at least 7 previous times. And the noises seem to come from the drivers side to midland to lower area of car. We carry an Extended Power Train Warranty, that by definition implies it kicks in when the Factory Power Train has expired. Good until 2024 or so" Willing to follow the advice on what is needed. It can only be driven on the back roads at slower pace with less public endangering. Please bear in mind that driving to Hyundai Crestmont in Brunswick is unattainable, due to safety issues betting there. We feel uncomfortable driving on highways and freeways, that places our lives in danger but also that of the public with the engine ceasing potential. The car is in danger of seising itself which will render it destroyed and not repairable. Documentation of reporting dating back to 2018, 2019 and April 1, 2021, and further. While driving the car stalls and you have no steering power or brakes to stop. I was able to coast to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. Restart car again and as I was braking for a stop light the car stopped again. To keep from rear ending another vehicle I had to switch lane and pull off of road. No warning lights came on the car just stopped. The car would start again as if everything is okay, but stall as you slow or come to a stop at a stop light. There is a total of 13 complaints on "Car Complaints.com" for this same issue. Below are some of the complaints on this website: "Driving the car in town at slow speeds, usually around 15-25 miles an hour, with rpms at about 1250. First noticed an issue with extremely jerky driving, but added gas and the problem went away, and I thought it was a one time thing. About a week later, it happened again. Then, a few days later, the car shut off as I was driving through a parking lot. I set up an appointment with the dealership for a week later. In that week, the car died while driving through town twice, and also as I was driving into work once. It is the smoothest shutoff I have ever experienced, only the engine dies, and it starts right up once I stop and put it in park. I don't even notice the engine turn off until I try to press the gas." "The car died 4 times, the engine completely shut off. It would throttle by itself at lights or in the drive thru.I could not drive up until no one was in front of me because the car would hesitate then jerk forward. Almost got hit from behind making a right turn because the car would not accelerate with oncoming traffic approaching from behind." "Were on a very busy street and the car just died. Very hot outside, people backed up behind us. Could start the car, but when lift off the break, it would die again. Police helped us push it off the busy road into a parking lot. Our concerns - this is a new car and a part goes bad" One that makes the car quit" What if it had happen

The car had a rattle or click in the front end for years but mechanics had cleared that no concern. At 120000 miles on trip out of town and without warning, the car locked up and wouldn't drive anymore on a busy interstate!! we had it towed to mechanic and was informed that engine locked up and would no longer start! car is still out of town! and now we have to make a decision as to whether replace it or sell it, several hours away from our home! there is a civil lawyer that contacted me regarding a law suit for this exact same problem that has been occurring. However, our car doesn't qualify because it's over 100,000 miles!!:/ please consider this issue for recall because this is a recurring issue that I am finding all over the internet and it's a very serious safety issue!!!

My 2014 hyundia Elantra sport 2.0L engine threw a rod with only 101300 miles. The car had a lot of value because it was running great and was in better than good condition until now. To replace the engine was going to cost between $8K to $10K. Reading on the internet hyundia 2.0L engines are experiencing a lot of engine failures like this. The mechanic shop where I took it called two hyundi-Kia dealership to see if my Elantra engine was under hyundia recall, both said it wasn't. now I am forced to look for a new car and figure out how to recoup some loss from my eltantra. In the future I will never consider another hyundia-Kia car because of engine issues.

After driving for an hour or so the car will shut off in the middle of a trip. No warning, just a quick engine shut off on the highway, which forces me to shift the car into neutral to crank it back up. The vehicle is in motion when this occurs, and it's a severe safety problem.

Troubles with the power/battery. Troubles started around 80K miles. At first the battery was a suspicion. A new battery was bought and then we were told a specific battery was needed which we obtained and put into the car. I am unsure if the battery is the issue (at this point I don't think it is). Recently, the car at about 86K miles, has had times where it does not start. For example, times where we go to the store or even left overnight, the car will not turn on. No sign of life at all. We wait a while then try it again. After a while, the car eventually turns on but there is no telling how long it will take. There have been occasions where we are driving and the dash board lights will all turn on at once then turn off. Other times we will be driving and the radio/clock screen will randomly turn off and on as if the car was turned off. At this point we are worried we will be stranded if we take this car out into the community. The car has not turned on while at home, visiting out in the community, and at work. The lights on the dash and radio face acts up while driving. No check engine light has ever came on.

2014 Hyundai Elantra - when the vehicle is at low speed (under 30), and after warming up it shuts off with no noise, no warning it just shuts off. There was one knocking idling at a stop light just before it shut off. But for both my daughter and myself it shut off with no warning. There are no check engine or warning lights on, it is not throwing a code. The dealer has said there is sludge in the engine and that the engine needs to be replaced - in a 2014 with 145K, single owner. In reading online, there is a class action lawsuit open - brown V Hyundai where multiple owners have reported the exact same symptoms and dealer resolution but there is a know piston defect that is causing this problem. No tsb issued in us but they did in Canada for the same problem.

The engine started making a ticking noise as early as 40K miles. It ran ok and I was lead to believe this was "normal" from the dealership. I maintained the vehicle as required until 88K while noticing more and more oil was being consumed. After slowing down and turning from a highway on to a county road, the automatic vehicle began to shift erratically and could not go faster than 40mph and then the engine turned off. I managed to get to the side of the road while this occurred. The engine started, but driving but the gears would not shift properly causing the engine to stall. In the dealership, the diagnosis was a new engine. I am the second owner and was told there was initially nothing could be done under warrantee with the mileage (while suggesting I must have went way too long between oil changes.....not even close to correct). The dealership made an appeal to Hyundai and offered to pay for half of the cost of a new engine. So I am supposed to be happy paying only $4200. The new engine does not have a ticking sound and I highly suspect that was the start of the problem before. I'm seeing the "ticking" sound in many of the complaints and can't believe a recall still hasn't been issued for this. I don't trust this car or Hyundai to do the right thing on their own.

Purchased this car used and within two years at 80K the engine is done. Always troubles even before...oil and connectivity issues beforehand, shop had 3X, paid my 100 deductible 3X because I had purchased 3K warranty additionally at the time of sale. So as it stands now, I have no car and owe 8K on a loan. Hyundai wants nothing to do with the recalled engine that was so called repaired, I am not the original owner, they state. My warranty company says only paying for value of car and then your warranty with us is void. The amount they allow is only for a used engine, why would I buy another used engine with the same issues with no warranty coverage, not to mention the fact the shop looked for a month and to no avail was there a used motor in the usa...hummmm, I wonder why? so to buy a new one, you go overseas and that would cost me 3K more on top of the warrenty pay out and 6 weeks out lead time. I cant believe with all the issues people have and the more and more recalls they are doing for engines and firers they are not connected to these cars as well. I am now out 8K on my loan and no car. I will never ever purchase or have a good thing to say about Hyundai or Kia...ever !!! this is cost me so my time and money and aggravation I feel like going to my local news with my strory, this is totally wrong!
