Air bag light illuminated, will not turn off. According to Hyundai, not part of a recall and not under warranty. Seems to be a recurring problem to these cars and nothing is done to rectify the situation"?" I will be taking it to the shop to begin the fight that everyone else seems to be having.

I own a Hyundai Sonata 2006, and just before it got to 80,000 miles, the air bag light suddenly went on. It has stayed on for a week as of 9/25/10. I looked it up online and it seems many people have had this same issue with the Hyundai Sonatas and it is very costly to fix. I think this is a safety issue that should be looked into with Hyundai, if it happens repeatedly.

Lights across instrument cluster will not go off including: ESC off, check engine, airbags and ABS. There is also a visibility issue regarding the sun visor on the driver side. These are all issues that I have seen many other people are having as well and are potentially dangerous.

The air bag light has come on, which will not let the air bags deploy if an accident. Problem was a sensor in the passenger seat belt. Had it replaced, within 2 months and $600 later, the light came back on. Will not get fixed again until a recall is made, many other people have the same problem. Too expensive, and should be recalled out of safety of people in vehicle.

I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata with the driver seat air bag light on. There is no reason for the light to be on. I am filing a complaint after being on a blog with hundreds of other drivers experiencing the same problem, resulting in up to 1700 dollars in repairs to replace seats, etc.

The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph with a passenger seated in the front passenger seat when the air bag warning light illuminated. The failure recurred intermittently while driving at any speed so the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer the front passenger seat was removed and repaired. The failure continued to recur intermittently so the vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer several times where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired and the failure continued to recur intermittently. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 42,000.

The airbag dash light on my 2006 Hyundai Sonata stays on. The dealer says it is due to a fault in the seatbelt tensioner on both driver and passenger side.

The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the passenger air bag warning light illuminated while the passenger seat was occupied. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for repairs under NHTSA campaign id number: 08V161000- air bags. The dealer refused to repair the vehicle stating that her VIN was not included in the recall despite that the contact received a letter from the manufacturer in regards to the recall. The sun visor labels also began peeling and the contact inquired with the dealer in regards to NHTSA campaign id number: 06V234000 (equipment: Other labels) and was informed by the dealer that that the repair was previously performed. The dealer refused any additional repairs. In addition, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 05V377000 (seats: Front assembly: Recliner) and the dealer refused repairs under the recall, stating that the work had already been performed on the vehicle. The contact stated that she never took the vehicle in for repairs under the recall. The contact also stated that when applying the brakes, the brake lights would not illuminate. She received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 09V122000 (service brakes) and when taking the vehicle to the dealer, she was informed again that the work had already been performed. The vehicle was not repaired for any of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 111,000.

Re. 2006 Hyundai Sonata (currently approx 71,00 miles) - was part of past recall on passenger side airbag light staying lit when passenger in seat. Brought to dealer - they couldn't replicate problem at the time. Wouldn't fix problem (replace seat) due to not being able to replicate. Light still comes on intermittently when passenger in seat. Addressed with dealer and Hyundai corporate - corporate backed dealer. Shortly after 60,000 warranty expired, drivers side visor broke - falls down when driving - safety hazard. Called dealer - $45 just to buy - not installed. I have seen numerous complaints on here and other websites re. Same issue. Should be part of covered recall. Recently drivers air bag light began illuminating. Car battery needed replacing - thought this might be the problem - still illuminating after replacing battery. Called dealer - must pay diagnostic fee (I believe $88) just to look at it and then repairs which from my understanding can be costly. Have also seen numerous reports on this site and others of same problem. Should be safety recall also.

I own a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. I bought it new from henderson Hyundai in henderson, nv. My car has now 73,831 miles and I have had every required maintenance done to my car by the dealership that sold it to me. A week ago the driver's airbag light came on so decided to take it to the dealer so they can fix it. To my surprise they said I would need to replace the passenger seat, the whole seat, and that it would cost me $1800 to repair. He also mentioned something about the insulation in the wiring being gone. My car has never been into an accident so the airbags have never been deployed. Right now, because of this problem, none of the airbags in my car will deploy should I have an accident. I tried to make the dealership understand this is a safety issue Hyundai should fix since it is obvious this is a matter of a faulty system and not normal wear and tear. I can not afford paying $1800 for something they can not even guarantee will not happen again. I strongly believe Hyundai motor Inc should be held liable for this type of poor craftsmanship that makes driving my car unsafe.

Airbag system in 2006 Hyundai Sonata is not functioning due to defective passenger seat mat. 1. no events led to failure - it just failed. 2. fails 100% of time, resulting in inoperative air bag deployment system. 3. dealer mechanic reported that passenger seat mat cannot be repaired or replaced and that only means to rectify the situation is by replacement of entire passenger seat at cost of approximately $1500.

Hyundai will not cover any portion despite multiple complaints for the same defective component. No airbags will function unless component is replaced. I own a 2006 Hyundai Sonata which I purchased in 2005. It is just under 79,000 miles and the air bag light has come on and no matter what has not turned off. This is a safety issue which Hyundai should handle and not force people to pay for at such high prices. There are numerous other complaints about the same issue and some action must be taken with Hyundai to get them to stop putting cheap parts into their vehicles.
