The driverside sunvisor cracked during normal usage. This is after very low usage. The broken sunvisor would no longer fold up flush with the roof and will lower itself when going over bumps and potholes. This is a distraction to the driver at unexpected times and could drop to the point of blocking the vision of the driver for a short period until the driver lowers their eyes to see below the visor. The sunvisor was immediately replaced as it interfered with safe driving and it could not be repaired.

2006 Hyundai Sonata driver's side sun visor falls and won't stay up. It obstructs driver's view creating a real safety problem. This is a recurring problem with a great number of Sonatas and just replacing the visor with a new one doesn't fix it permanently. Dec 22 2010 both my airbag lights came on drive side stays on the passenger side flashes off and on and the passenger side visor doesn't not stay up already had the drive side visor replaced because of the same reason it wouldn't stay up.

The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the driver and passenger sun-visors were defective and would continuously fall downward while driving, blocking the contacts view of the roadway. The contact stated that when the sun-visor would fall, he would have to remove one hand from the steering wheel and hold it on the sun-visor to keep it from blocking his vision. The dealer was contacted but provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was concerned with the possibility of the failure potentially causing a crash. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 195,000.

The contact owns a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the sun visor flipped down impairing her vision while driving. The dealer was contacted and was aware of the issue. The manufacturer was notified and directed the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was repaired by a local mechanic. The current and failure mileages were approximately 26,000. Updated 02/01/11 the consumer also stated the windshield needed to be replaced due to it having spider cracks and chips. Updated 03/21/11

I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata that has sun visors that do not stay in place. It just recently started. At first the visors would slip and I would move them back into place. Then a week or so ago both visors have started this. This is a huge driving/safety hazard. The roadside issues are too numerous to name. I cannot believe Hyundai will not recall the cars with this problem. There are too many cars with the identical problem. I have since applied liberally super glue to the rollers on the visor itself. For now, the visors stays in place. I will have to lift each visor out to move it into another position, even the slightest move would seem to break the seal the glue has made. I will carry some super glue with me for now. But for now, the visors are up and out of the way. I am very disappointed in Hyundai Corp for not addressing this problem.

I have a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. Both driver and passenger visors have broke when being properly used. On the driver one, there was a cracking sound and a piece of plastic broke off the corner of the visor. Both visors do not stay in their non-used or used positions. The visors fall in the sight of driving and can only be held up by other means, such as velcro, which is not effective. I am unable to use my visors at all because I am forced to have them permanently modified in the unused position. When in use, the edge of the visor rests at forehead level making it even more of a hazard, not just because of lack of sight, but because of the fear of getting in a car accident and having the visor impale the driver's or the front seat passenger's head. I have contacted the dealership regarding this issue and was told that my warranty does not cover them and that there is not a recall on them. After reading report after report of other 2006/2007 Hyundai Sonata owners, it baffles me that nothing has been done.

2006 Hyundai Sonata LX. Broken driver side sun visor. Plastic cracked where the metal rod on the visor mounts into the swivel arm. Cracked when raising the visor. Now visor slowly falls and obstructs view whenever driving. Faulty plastic component on the visor.

Sun visor on 2006 Hyundai / Sonata does not stay up. It is keep on falling. I had it replaced while it was under warranty and it's broke again and it's not under warranty any longer. I see many other similar issue with same model. This would be safety issue when the visor falls while driving. Hyundai should do a recall on this right away.

1. Hyundai Sonata 2006 sun visor did not stay in fully folded or extended position. 2. tried to move sun visor to fully folded position and heard cracking sounds and sun visor just hangs loose (straight down) blocking road field of vision 3. I used shoe string to tie sun visor to safety handle above door to keep it from obstructing view of road. Unfortunately if visor is tied it is not free to move into fully extended position to shield sun while driving which is also a visibility hazard. I removed the visor and took apart broken hinge to find crack plastic bushing around rod which allows rotation of sun visor. Since the thin plastic bushing was cracked/broke into pieces the visor does not hold specified positions. An online forum shows numerous consumers with the same problem and they replace the sun visor for it to just break again. This part is no longer covered under my warranty, but I do not want to buy a new part(~$100) that is manufactured the same as the ones that break easily, just so I'll have to buy another replacement sun visor again. A thin plastic bushing around a metal rod that is loaded frequently is prone to stress fractures and failure. Numerous incidences of this defect should prompt a new design and free replacement parts for consumers since this is a driving visibility hazard.

2006 Hyundai Sonata sunvisor - I just replaced my fourth sunvisor at $81 a piece and $20 to install it has become very costly. There should be a recall on this item it is dangerous because it does block the view of the driver.

The sun visors on both driver and passenger seats don't stay. They are floppy and it blocks the driver's sight. It's not under warranty any longer, so I used tapes to hold them. Please note that the sun visor on the driver's side was fixed once while I had a warranty and now it happened again on both sides seat.
