Vehicle will shut down while driving down the road. No warning lights or sounds. The engine will just shut down completely. Engine starts up again but will again shut down while driving. No codes will come up on the ECM when scanned at a mechanic shop. No way to tell what is going on. Hyundai dealer has no answers for me.

7/19 bought my 2011 Sonata then two days later check engine light came on. Took to dealership they said gas cap was loose and if it came back on to bring back in. 2 weeks later went to gas station, came back out car wouldnt start. No click or anything. All power worked as well. Walked home started researching, other owners had the same issue. Walked back determined to try some things I read about. Car started without me doing anything. No check light came on. Next day driving check engine light came on and thats when I took back to dealership. Of course it started up whenever they tried it so they wrote could not duplicate customer concern. They ran diagnostics and they said purge valve was found to be shortned internally. Code P0455. 500 bucks later because no warranty (as is vehicle) not even a month off the dam lot...my instructions were when filling up with fuel do not top off beyond when the fuel pump shuts off. Fuel could enter the purge valve/canister via vent tubes. Wtf....they wouldnt cover even though the dealership put the gas in when I bought it so it wasnt me....lucky me :(

I was driving my vehicle downtown and my eps light came on along as well as flickering of my low tire pressure and ABS light which I believe is breaks failing. But I had failure of my power steering for sure. Out of nowhere I could no longer navigate heavy and slow traffic. I turned the car off and back on only to have all of my gears lock up and not allow me to even attempt at moving it, after turning it off the second time car entirely died and will not start at all. We managed to get the gears unlocked after a few attempts with just the battery on and push it off the busy road to call for a tow truck. I see online that the 2011 Hyundai Sonata has a recall for the power steering failure but my VIN is not covered but I am definitely effected by this recall. The campaign number is 16V190000

The car exploded, burned and is a total loss. As the vehicle was in motion, the engine began to smoke. Gas then began to leave and the stench of gas was strong. Upon pulling over in a parking lot of a fast food resturaunt, a fire started in the engine area and the fire began to rapidly spread. As I got out of the car the car exploded. The dekalb county fire report number is [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My radio display and all speakers completely quick working I searched for months here and there when I had time I even upgraded my radio to the factory touch screen radio and the display came on but no sound and finally I took the factory amp apart and it had water damage I was not in a wreck or anything only thing I could think of how it got wet is terrible placement of factory amp on the outside of the frame in the trunk so now I have to ride in silence or with a bluetooth speaker because Hyundai wanted to put and electronic in the worst place possible where it is completely exposed to road degree and in my case rain

Prior to having a safety recall addressed, regarding my steering column, I'd experienced moisture buildup and dampness. On the drivers side of the floor, running continuing under the the front seat to the back. Leaving the carpet wet after the slightest rain or water condition. The vehicle is used daily, back and forth to work, 20 highway miles round-trip. Can the repaired recall need reparing again?

There is a rattling noise in the steering column when turning the wheel or when driving over a speed bump/bump in the road. I was informed by my mechanic that it is a little rubber part that looks like a black disc that needs to be replaced...my mechanic said it is a common issue with Sonatas.

Headlights and brake lights, they will not work, put in brand new bulbs, they light up for about five mins. Then stop working, cannot get a bulb to work, it seems the electrical parts of the lights are not working properly. This is bringing me a lot of problems, cops pull me over for no brake lights, but I can't get them to work>>>>>

We have had nothing but problems with our 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Less than a year ago our engine completely died while driving the vehicle. The dealership replaced the engine and since then we have had starting and electrical problems. When we went to pick up the car it didn't start right away and they told us we needed a new battery. We bought a new battery and about a week later it still wouldn't start on and off. Since we had the engine replaced, we have had to change the headlights and brake lights 4 times! we believe that when the engine died it caused an electrical issue. Fast forward about 9 months and now the car has 3 engine codes. P0017 P0014 and P0560. Crankshaft and camshaft position sensors and a system voltage malfunction. We will never buy a Hyundai again! they claim they totally replaced the engine but now I wonder if they salvaged old parts in the new engine and what exactly happened to the electrical system when the car shut off while driving.

Takata recall. Hello, I own a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and recently the engine was making a loud noise like someone was knocking but really hard and it was shaking. While driving I felt the car really weak. I was going about 45mph and slowed down to 25mph in a 55mph zone. After slowing down I got to a light and suddenly the car turns off. I tried to turn it back on but it wasn't responding. There was a lot of traffic and I was feared that if I got out to push the car to a safe point someone could run me over. I decided to call 911 to help me push the car. Before it was making the noise and shaking the car was doing fine. I had recently had a change of oil and had my next appointment next year in February. It has over 150,000 miles and I wanted to know if it has some type of guarantee or if Hyundai or someone can fix this problem because right now the car is on car shop and they told me that it doesn't have a fix. They told me that the solution would be to be a new engine because apparently it didn't have oil but I checked and it did have. If that would be the case they would charge me 2,800$ for everything. I'm a college student and I can hardly pay my classes. My parents had just bought me this used car for 5,000$ about 9 months ago. At first I was glad that I had a Hyundai car because it saved gas but right know I'm kind of disappointed. I would like a response. Thank you for your time.

In random instances, while parking the vehicle, the car will shift to park and completely park. When the car is stationary and turned off, a beeping alerts begins and the dashboard screen will prompt 'shift to park'. the car will not completely turn off, leaving the battery running.
