Sonata 4-cyl

  • 130 miles
Ordered & purchased a brand new 2011 Sonata SE turbo in radiant silver via Hyundai of nanuet who swapped my vehicle out from glick, Hyundai of monticello, NY. Since the first drive home, the steering wheel has been off center & constantly pulls to the left side of roadway at various speeds more pronounced at higher speeds. This is not an isolated defect as there are hundreds of exact complaints & growing for this model year new car. A factory recall on this issue should be ordered after determining the root problem & a effective solution. Please do the right thing, we all can't be wrong!

2011 Hyundai Sonata SE w/ navigation pulls to the left. Now the front left tire has a big bubble on the side wall. Car is only driven on the NJ turnpike. 12000 miles. I've tried calling up hankook about the tire but no response from them. The service manager at Hyundai admitted to the 'pulling problem'. says its prevalent on all their models especially on the Sonata SE & turbo 2.0. also, he mentioned that the remedy to fix the problem is to interchange the tires from left to right! unheard off! he also said that there is something wrong with the vehicle's 'cambor bolts' Hyundai is lying by omission of facts to the public. My wife and I feel swindled and cheated. We use this car to drive to New York everyday and now we can't because we're afraid we might have an accident. Please help!

Purchased new Hyundai 2011 Sonata turbo.from day one experienced extreme pulling to the left while driving at any speed. Dealer tried to correct problem by alignment, tire exchange, etc. Still to no avail. Called Consumer Affairs and regional representative evaluated vehicle. They put a camber adjustment kit on it and the problem persisted. They then had Hyundai engineers evaluate it and proceeded to put a new strut assembly on the vehicle "two times" and the problem was lightly corrected but still pulls to the left. I have owned the vehicle for one month and it has been in the dealership more than in my possession. Car has less than 700 miles on it. Hyundai does not know how to proceed.

The car constantly pulls left while driving down a straight road. I have been to dealer two times in three months. I could have gone everyday to the dealer to complain. The steering wheel is never centered. You must always keep correcting the wheel to stay straight. The dealership diagnosed it as needing an alignment adjustment, this is the second time. I have made a third appointment which a tech rep is coming to look at the 2011 Sonata SE.

Sonata 4-cyl

Purchased new 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T limited. Upon initial test drive car seemed to track okay with large male passenger in passenger seat of vehicle. I did not remove hands from the wheel during test drive. As soon as I left the car lot after purchasing the vehicle, noticed that steering felt lopsided and was seemingly a bit harder to turn and hold to the right than the left. The first time I let my hands free from the wheel the vehicle began moving to the left. The vehicle now seems to consistently pull itself to the left except at bewildering times when carrying passengers or going over specific road crown conditions and purposely manipulating the steering wheel to 'hold' itself a bit to the right. Wheel always reverts to pulling itself back to the left and staying there. It is a very unstable feeling to have to fight this phenomenon. To me it is completely unacceptable behavior for any car, let alone a brand new model. Entirely unsafe to drive. Requires enormous amounts of concentration to constantly correct the pull not to mention actual physical strain that compounds quickly. Also car does not straighten itself out after initiating a turn. Car keeps turning to the left far too much. Every other car I've ever driven has straightened the wheel and itself out simply by removing hands from wheel. I thought this was expected on any vehicle built unless expressly designed and sold openly as a new kind of left turning car design. Tire pressure checks okay. Vehicle will go into service for an alignment, but was only built 2 weeks ago. Please please please open a serious investigation into the 2011 Sonata issue and help us consumers out who are driving unsafe vehicles.

At 40 mph and higher, vehicle is hard to steer. Have to constantly correct to keep in own lane. This is the second Sonata with the same problem. Software performed, not a fix. Do not feel safe driving on three lane highway for fear of vehicle changing lanes. Hyundai is ignoring problem.

2011 Hyundai 2.0T noticed in the first couple of days of owning the vehicle it pulled to the left. Returned it to the dealership for service on alignment. I was told the alignment was out and the problem was fixed. Seemed okay driving home. The very next time I drove the vehicle it began to pull left once again. If I didn't hang on to the wheel so tight while driving the car would lose control very quickly. Certainly a safety issue. I have since told my dealership I would like a loaner vehicle until this problem is resolved as the vehicle is not safe for the road.

The manufacturer looked through their inventory and found an identical vehicle; however, the vehicle also experienced the failure. The manufacturer agreed to buy the vehicle back from the contact. The failure mileage was 45 and the current mileage was 1700.

About 2 weeks ago on the freeway I was making a lane change, I had to make a sudden correction due to me noticing a car in my blind spot. There was almost loss of control when I tried to correct the car. I have been driving various cars from VW gti to gms and Ford for 32 yrs. Car has 1100 miles on it! 2011 Hyundai Sonata warning: It was my most dangerous driving experience! 100% true.

Test drove a 2011 Sonata limited turbo and while at highway speeds the car pulled to left constantly! you had to keep a good grip on the steering wheel to keep it going straight. You could literally feel the steering wheel fighting you to go to the left! needless to say, we did not buy the car.

Sonata

Car pulls dangerously to the left, predominantly at highway speeds, however can occur at lesser speeds. If wheel is let go at highway speed, car will immediately dart towards the median from any originating lane. Two attempts to correct issue at dealer have not fixed problem. Dealer stated he has seen same problem in another Sonata turbo, but has no fix. First call to Hyundai regional office resulted in delivery of a "special tool" to fix supposed alignment problem to dealer without any success. Three subsequent calls to Hyundai have to this point gone unreturned. Hyundai is playing "dumb" to this dangerous issue.
