The complete brake light panels-"taillights" on both sides of the back of the car (2012 Sonata) - is completely out. (back driver and passenger taillight panels) all the wiring that carrys electricial to the back taillights are melted / completely worped / fused together and blown out. All the burnt wiring has disfigured and melted the inside of the tail light panels (in the trunk) so the bulbs or wires can not be replaced and functionable. Fyi: It carrys the smell of the burnt wiring and plastic. My 2012 Sonata has "no electricial wires" that are functionable to connect the tail lights on either side in the back of the car. The dealership has tried to fix the bulbs and connection 2 times but nothing works- it continues to blow out & melt...this problem needs to be recalled the "tail lights, all wiring to the taillights, fuses and anything that is connected with the electrical for the tail lights." This will catch fire in the trunk or worse!

After having every recall imaginable including the replacement of my engine recently after it stalled while driving down one of the busiest highways in las vegas, I am stunned that the steering column and the electrical for the brakes hasn't been recalled yet. My steering column is clicking and making noises that have increased in the volume of the sound and it does this every single time I turn the wheel. I see others have already had this fail in their 2012 Sonatas entirely and previous years of my exact vehicle for the same issues have been recalled. I drive a three year old around frequently and I am afraid that soon my column will completely detach itself and cause an accident. I see other consumers have had to pay to have it fixed out of pocket at low mileage as well. Clearly we cannot all be misusing our vehicles. Previous Sonata models have also had the exact same safety recalls for these exact same problems that we are seeing now in this specific year and still they choose to deny it is their fault. My miles aren't even 70,000 yet. I have also replaced my left rear brake light 4 times now, how many more times will I have to do this before I am hit by someone or before someone else's brake lights fail and they end up in an accident that could be fatal? I have already been pulled over for having a tail light out that I had just replaced a week prior. This year make and model should just be recalled and scrapped entirely and owners given their money back. I had a seatbelt recall that was then later on recalled again!! I mean come on Hyundai!

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the rear tail lights had an internal electrical short and contained rust and corrosion. Also, the sockets melted on both sides of the rear tail lights. The rear passenger side light had to be removed to prevent the middle rear brake light from remaining illuminated. The rear driver's side tail light was operable, but eventually shorted out as well. The contact ordered replacement tail lights three times, but the failure recurred each time. In addition, the contact heard a loud noise concerning the fuel system. When turning the steering wheel in either direction, the contact heard an abnormal noise intermittently. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 18V137000 (seat belts and air bags) and 18V934000 (engine, fuel system, gasoline); however, the contact did not receive any notifications. Mcgrath city Hyundai (6750 w grand ave, Chicago, il 60707, (773) 889-9090) was contacted, but had not diagnosed or repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

This is an ongoing problem, the plastic that the tail light bulb is attached to is melting and I have had to replace the tail light casing already recently. Since the replacement, I replaces a bulb and the plastic is starting to look burned again. Two weeks since I replaced that bulb, the light is out again.everytime I have this problem my check engine light comes on. After a few days it goes off. When I take call the dealer they said if the light goes off they cannot check the problem, this problem started about 3 years after I got this car and now my check engine light is on again and will not go off.the driver side airbag light is alway on since a year ago. No accident. Looks like there are a lot of similar issues with Sonata

First issue occurred in my job's parking lot, as I tried to crank my car it made a roaring start and didn't want to stay on. Cut the car off, checked oil. There was barely any on the stick (just got an oil change on 09/21/18 at Hyundai dealership). Added 2 qts had mom drive to dealership per serviceman request. They changed my oil and informed my mom of an ongoing issue. Well get off headed home, on regular county road headlights flashed off and on alone with radio console. Pulled over lights stayed on, but I notice taillight that has been replaced multiple times over the last couple months was out again. Tried to replace it and the wire was hot and bulb wouldn't come out. So, I decided to wait till I get home. But now I'm waiting on the side of the road because my engine light is

Around 60,000 miles, my driver's side brake light harness melted and had to be replaced. Around 80,000 miles, my passenger brake light harness melted and had to be replaced. Around the same time, 80,000 miles, my automatic door lock master switch began failing. I'm wondering if there's an electrical flaw causing these problems. Perhaps the writing doesn't hold up in hot climates, I live in a desert where the car is subject to temperature up to 140F as it is parked in direct sunlight. I notice more malfunction with locks on extremely hot days.

Recall #15V759000, dated 11/16/15 for 2011-2012 Sonata's built between certain dates. My car fell outside of those dates with a January 3, 2012 date. However my 2012 Sonata, VIN number [xxx] is having the exact same problem. How many others out there with Sonatas built after the June 30,2011 cutoff date are having the problem as well. As for me, I was first alerted by other drivers that could not determine when I was braking or not that I had a problem with the ability to retain a charge on my battery due to the brake lights staying illuminated, draining the battery charge, preventing accurate communication to rearward following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, if the brake switch plunger is not retracted, then the transmission can be shifted out of park without depressing the brake pedal. As known, these conditions increase the risk of a crash and harm to individuals, up to and including death. I suggest this be researched for the need to repair this problem on the 2012 Sonatas that were continued to be built after 6/30/2011. Thank you. The electrical system is showing signs of failure in areas that have nothing to do with repair or maintenance which includes a noted airbag recall. Below is a list of issues I've had with my vehicle pertaining to the electrical system that have me concerned with the overall safety of the vehicle. These issues have occurred over various dates which I'm unaware of the specific dates. 1. steering wheel radio controls don't function properly (at times when I try to increase the volume of the stereo, the volume doesn't increase or starts the voice controls instead.) 2. the instrumental panel is malfunctioning so the parking brake and seat belt indicators are permanently illuminated. 3. parking brake light casings burned 4. Hyundai recall campaign 174 is for airbags where "in some stances, electrical overstress has been observed in the module circuitry, which may prevent the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side airbags from deploying. " additional details regarding this campaign are below. Manufacturer recall number: 174 Hyundai recall date: February 27, 2018 NHTSA recall number: 18V137000 recall status: Recall incomplete
