2022 Hyundai Tucson with repeated check engine light and vehicle losing power. Vehicle losing power and inability to exceed speeds of 15 mph with vehicle shaking, knocking, and pedals shaking. No warning that this was going to occur until vehicle becomes unsafe to drive. This has happened twice and one of which was on a high way which created an incredibly unsafe situation. First time diagnostic code was P0303 which was a cylinder 3 misfire and second time - less than 4 months later- diagnostic code was a P0302 cylinder 2 misfire. Hyundai only repairs one injector at a time; refusing to do all 4 despite being a heavily documented issue on this make/model. This would be able to be confirmed by request. This was also confirmed both times by two separate independent service centers. Vehicle has about 25,000 miles on it and has had 3 check engine lights over the past 3 years of owning- it was bought new. The first time was 2 days of owning and it was a bad IAT that resulted in engine stalling once again. All 3 times the car was unable to be driven and created substantial safety concerns with inability to drive.

Engine failed to switch out of battery power and loses power on the highway. This has happened on two different days the first time I had 58,000 mile the second time after Hyundai said it had been repaired the car has 65,000 mile. Both times my car went from 60 mph to 30 mph quickly. The last time I was in a construction zone and unable to get off the road and was only driving at 10 mph on a very busy highway. The car has been at the Hyundai shop since June. No there were no warning lamps, or messages.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle began to vibrate, lose motive power, and then stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that cylinder #4 fuel injector had failed. The fuel injector was replaced; however, the same failure occurred with fuel injector #3. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 34,219.

On 5/27/24, my check engine light came on and the vehicle stayed to shimmy and shake each time I would press on the gas. Had the vehicle towed to the dealer for the #4 fuel injector assembly to be replaced. The same thing happened on 7/16/24 while traveling out of state. I was traveling on a highway and had to keep my emergency flashers on as I tried to coax the car to the next exit. Couldn't go above 25-30 mph. Had vehicle towed to a dealer for the #2 fuel injector assembly to be replaced. Now I am again without a vehicle because on 7/26/24, the same thing happened and I was told it is the #1 fuel injector. I was told by 2 different dealers that this is a known Hyundai Tucson issue but they are only allowed to replace what is coming up with an error code. They are not permitted to change all of the assemblies at one time, even though it would save them and Hyundai Corporate quite a bit of money in the long term. They've now paid to tow my car 3 times, paid workers 3 times the amount of money to replace what could've and should've been done the first time. The dealer was going to try to get the #3 assembly replaced now but there is no guarantee. I'm afraid that I'll have to be back there in another week or two for the last one. This is a serious issue that is not being addressed.

Car lunched from a traveling in traffic 50+ mph to 39 mph and then had to push the pedal to the floor to get it off the highway and on the side during 5 o'clock traffic. Said something about the hybrid battery and went dead. Dealer has had it for 11 days and still can't get it started. Apparently there are THREE batteries in relation to this hybrid and all 3 don't work and never seen this before. Since it's been at the dealer, hyundai has emailed me no less than 3 times that I need to check my lights because my battery is getting low all the while it has been completely dead and they don't even know it. Suffice to say, there was NO WARNING other than a couple of miles prior, my car lunched down to the 39 mph and I lunged on the gas and it picked back up again but it wouldn't do it a 2d time. They obviously still don't know about the vehicle being so dead 2 different tow trucks had to be called because even the tires were locked up. Just still receiving my messages I need to check my lights because my battery (NOT BATTERIES MULTIPLE) is low and it's not low, THEYRE ALL 3 DEAD. I was in a dangerous situation and always felt safe in a 2 yr old car with a full tank and hybrid battery backup and less than. 20k miles. IF EVER FIXED because service may have to send OUT OF STATE I will never buy a hyandai or hybrid again. The entire battery system broke down. Which killed the entire electrical system which now no one knows how to fix

I was merging on the highway when the car bucked and the check engine light came on. I couldn-??t drive over 20 mph without the car shaking. I pulled over and had the car towed. The issue was a faulty fuel injector. It was replaced under warranty. I am worried reading online about this problem happening again. My family has owned 4 Hyundais and I-??m starting to loose faith in their reliability. This really needs to be recalled.

We fist noticed a problem with the car having a hard time accelerating and a hard shift at 25-35 mph back at the end of November. We then got a check engine light that came on that said P013A00 Powertrain. We brought it to the dealership the first week of December and were told that the transmission just needed an update. Upon taking the car home it was better for about a week then the issue came back sporadically. Then on March 20th my wife was driving the car and it would not accelerate past 35 mph while getting onto the interstate. Cars were going by her at 70+MPH as she sat there helplessly pressing the accelerator. Eventually she got the car up to 50 mph but it would not go any faster. We brought it into the dealership that day and once again they said the transmission needed an update. I then contacted Hyundai corporate and submitted a complaint and they started a case for the issue. After the second time at the dealership the car was ok for a week and then started with the same issues. After taking it to several other dealerships they all tell me that it-??s a transmission issue that they don-??t know how to fix but they change what they say once Hyundai corporate talks with them. Presently the car will have very high RPM and jump forward almost colliding with cars in front. It will also not accelerate such as the peddle is on the floor and the RPMs are high but the car will barely move until it shifts gears and jumps forward.

I was driving on the highway when the engine would not accelerate. I was stuck in a high speed lane and drivers were on my rear bumper. I could not move over and felt helpless. I pulled off at the next exit and the vehicle was sputtering. I made it home at reduced speed. The vehicle would not start the next morning. I had it towed to the nearest dealership. I was contacted days later and informed that the is a bulletin about power loss due to faulty fuel injectors. Many complaint sites are full of the same problems. I now feel unsafe driving the vehicle on trips. I don't want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere. I am a female senior citizen.

NHTSA Complaint On Sunday, March 10th 2024 our 2022 Hyundai Tucson with 2.5L engine started missing in one of the cylinders. It did not disable the vehicle and it ran like that for several blocks until we could pullover to safety. At this time there were no warning lights of any kind. It wasn-??t until I turned the car off, checked the oil (which was good), started the car again and did a lap around the parking lot that the check engine light came on. So there were no warnings. We dropped the car off at our local Hyundai service center that night so it could be checked first thing the next day. It turned out that it was a bad spark plug and injector. At that point it was no big deal. We chalked it up to a fluke. We received the car back on Thursday, March 14th with the explanation of what happened and that it was replaced under warranty. There were NO RECOMMENDATIONS made upon pick up. Exactly 2 weeks later on Thursday, March 28th, the car lost all power while traveling 60mph in the middle lane of the interstate. Again, there were no warning or diagnostic lights coming on. It was pure luck that there was minimal traffic and other drivers were paying attention as the car came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway in order to be restarted and it refused to accelerate above 20mph in order to limp to the shoulder and get to safety. Over an hour later and stopping and starting the car in a parking lot, the check engine light finally came on. The engine was running worse this time. The car had to be towed this time to the service center. After being checked out it was another spark plug and a fouled fuel injector. Researching online showed that this is a very common issue with Hyundai fuel injectors between 12,000 and 25,000 miles. There are currently no technical service bulletins or recalls warning owners of this common failure and potentially losing power traveling at high speeds. Research showed there have been 3 collisions caused by this exact issue to date.

While driving on busy highway the vehicle would not accelerate even with more gas applied. Gave warning to check hybrid system and pull to safety. Vehicle wouldn-??t turn off after pulling over and in park with flashers on. Various warning lights all came on, gave message of battery discharge warning, check brakes, check ABS, check brakes then everything complete shut off including hazard lights. Wouldn-??t start after that until jumped by tow driver. This is the second time this occurred, first time being within the first year after purchase.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while attempting to drive through a yellow light, the vehicle failed to accelerate upon the depression of the accelerator pedal without warning. The same failure occurred soon after while on a highway ramp. The contact attempted to merge onto the highway, but the vehicle failed to accelerate with the accelerator pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact pulled off to the shoulder of the highway and restarted the vehicle; the vehicle resumed normal operation after the engine restart. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was made to have the vehicle serviced. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 32,340.

This is the third time I had issues with my 2022 Hyundai Tucson losing power, being unable to accelerate, and/or completely losing power and stopping. I already created an NHSTA report/complaint when the first incident occurred 11 months ago (NHTSA ID Number: 11507213). Since then, the issue occurred twice (has 33,000 miles & always maintained). I am a professional female in [XXX]. The 2nd time was at night [XXX]; I was on my way to a program for work, car decelerated. I could navigate, with great distress and frustration to a side street where the car shut off completely. I contacted my husband, my supervisor (who delayed the program start for a few minutes, then began without me), Hyundai Blue Link and AAA. My supervisor sent someone to pick me up so I could be present at the program and make my presentation. A colleague returned me to my failed vehicle. I called AAA for an update on the tow, which I was told would not be for another several hours after midnight. My colleague drove me home (16.5 miles one way: my husband was even further away) as I would have again been alone in my vehicle at night (without heat). This third time (Jan 2024), I used the climate start for at least 12 minutes before driving. The car never gained acceleration above 19 mph, occurring immediately. I thought it was just a cold engine that would dissipate as I drove, but it didn't. Since I could not get the engine to accelerate, I could not get heat. It was as though the engine was draining all the functions of the vehicle. There were no cars in front of me, but several drivers behind me were very angry; amazingly, no accident occurred. Finally drove to dealer, called Uber, and was late to work again! Purchased my Tucson after engine issues with my Hyundai Sante Fe. Both purchased new with many extended warranties, assuming I'd have a safe and reliable vehicle. Car still at dealer (10 days). Case Synopsis: My ownership includes three Hyundai Hybrid vehicles: two 2020 Sonata Hybrids and one 2022 Tucson Hybrid. Each car has consistently manifested engineering defects, predominantly overheating, within a year of purchase. These persistent malfunctions have led to the vehicles being inoperable and beyond repair. As a result, we have endured financial setbacks from negative equity, costs of repairs, reduced value of the cars, and considerable inconvenience and safety hazards due to these ongoing overheating issues.
