The contact took the vehicle twice to an independent mechanic where she had the alternator replaced on both occasions. The contact then received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20V705000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Abc Hyundai (6825 redwood St, las vegas, nv 89118) was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000. My 2010 Hyundai Veracruz had an oil leak. Since the alternator is on bottom of the engine, the oil valves leaked undetected onto the alternator causing it to short out. The vehicle locked up and I could not steer it. Thank god I wasn't driving fast and was able to coast into a parking lot where I finally came to a stop. I could not put the vehicle into park, the gear shift would only go into neutral. As a result, I had to use the safety brake to keep the vehicle from rolling back.
