I was driving down a local road (approximate speed 40mph). After hitting an average bump in the road the vehicle went out of control. It thrashed side to side several times before crashing into a ditch and landing onto its side. I had no explanation for the cause of the crash. However, when the tow truck arrived he showed us a large rusted out part that was hanging down in front of the drivers side rear wheel (I took pictures as well as the police).

It has been determined by an certified mechanic that there is rust in the rear suspension that has caused the vehicle to fail inspection which is not due to normal wear.

2000 Isuzu Rodeo was not in an accident, but the rear suspension components are so rotted that it appears the vehicle is teetering in the brink of a catastrophic failure. Its my understanding that there is an open investigation by NHTSA and consumer complaint blogs are rife with complaints about this condition. My vehicle is an easy vehicle to sell, not able to be fixed, and undrivable because of this defect, and Isuzu (or Honda) should be held accountable for those of us who have 4000 lb unsafe paper weights in our driveways.

The events leading up to the failure are simple. Leaving our driveway and within two tenths of a mile there was a rear suspension lower link failure on our Isuzu Rodeo just as described in NHTSA action PE09030. Here are the actions / moments leading up to the failure. We simply gathered in our Rodeo. Pulled from our driveway on to a rural country road. Single lane and traveling a speed of approximately 10mph (luckily). It is on this road and with in two tenths of a mile from leaving our home the failure occurred. There was no warning whatsoever. When the failure occurred there was a loss of control, the rear end of the vehicle began swerving from left to right in a track about 3 feet from the original line of travel. Because we were not yet on a major highway, stopping the vehicle was no problem and there was no crash, however, we can't bare the thoughts of what it could have been if we had been traveling at highway speeds. Again, luckily we were very close to home. Towing the vehicle was not necessary as we were able to slowly back the vehicle in reverse to our home at nothing more than an idling speed. The nature of the failure is the left rear suspension bar breaking from the frame of the vehicle. There has been no repair attempted as the frame is in no condition to remount the suspension bar. After this incident we have looked more at the condition of frame on this vehicle. There are other places on the frame were there is total rust through. Because of the incident and because of what we are now seeing we deem the frame unsafe.

Vehicle has a vibration(shake or whopple) in driver and front passenger seat. Front passenger seat has a bad vibration when driving with speed of 50mph or more. Has been to the dealership numerous times with this complaint and contacted Isuzu twice, tires have been rotated and balanced, rims changed, hub assembly replaced, and wheel bearings repacked. We have now been told from their customer realtion representative that this is a normal ride for this vehicle. We would like the district service representative to be contacted and drive our vehicle if possible.
