Vehicle was recalled for failure of suspension supporting frame due to corrosion. Brackets were installed, and Isuzu claims this is an adequate fix. However, the entire rear of the frame is riddled with holes and heavily rusted. When the vehicle was picked up the dealership required signatures on photos of the damage to disclaim liability. Although the "official" position of the dealership remains neutral, we were told the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Isuzu offered to purchase the car for $935, stating their only responsibility was for the bracket.

Frame is rusted, the result being parts that are atttached to the frame (rear diiferential, stabalizer, shocks etc., etc) rust out and break off---in this case a stabilizer seperated

2001 Rodeo ls 80K miles failure of right rear sway bar bracket totally rusted from frame. Total frame rusted, gas tank mounts affected, along with front and rear suspension components. No advance warning of bracket failure or how bad the rustout really is, as rest of SUV is in excellent condition. Had sway bar bracket rewelded, but do not trust any other welded to frame components. I do not understand the delay in recalling these vehicles, and wish your Agency would get off their butts and do something for the owners of these SUV's this is a very dangerous situation and Isuzu/ Honda should be forced to make the owners whole on their good face purchase of what was a 25K+ auto when new. I am disgusted it is taking your Agency so long to make a decision in is what a very well documented failure.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo. After reading numerous complaints regarding frame rust issues, examined my vehicle. The frame is rusted through in many spots. Also, undercarriage shields have rusted through and fallen off in some places. The car was not taken to a shop, nor to a dealer - it would not pass inspection. This is the only car I have, and cannot afford even a used one in comparable state (less frame corrosion, of course). I am sure the issue has been there for quite some time. Current mileage is about 164K. This is by now is widely-reported, and Isuzu should issue a recall! the frame should be the last part to deteriorate under normal driving conditions. Isuzu should take care of it before someone gets hurt!!!

The contact owns a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo. The contact stated that while traveling at speeds of 15 mph, the front wheels folded inward and the vehicle began to turn sideways hitting a guardrail. The contact didn't state if there were any injuries or a police report was filed. The contact stated that the sway bars were rusted and fell off of the vehicle while driving causing the front tires to fold inward. The contact stated that the failure was a safety concern. There were no warnings preceding the failure. The vehicle had not been driven since the failure occurred. The failure and current mileages were 120,000.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo frame rotted through, not safe to drive. Never told about any structural problems until we get the news that the vehicle is no longer safe to drive. Have had the vehicle serviced at regular intervals and garaged nightly. Just had the vehicle serviced a week ago and no mention of unsafe vehicle. Engine light came on after service and we took the vehicle back in to be checked. Told the vehicle is rotted through in two places and not able to be fixed.
