For the 3rd time - check engine light, check gas cap light come on, odometer starts flashing and vehicle loses all acceleration after those lights come up. You can floor the gas pedal and the vehicle will barely get to 40 mph. Last time it was brought to the dealership they performed flashes (3 weeks ago) and the issue went away. Happened again today while pulling out of a busy shopping center and the car lost the ability to accelerate and had to limp it home to be towed to the dealership. The dealership advises they are unaware of any issues like this however there are multiple reports of this make\model\year having this exact same issue. The first time it happened I was doing 80 mph on the interstate and the car immediately dropped to 40 mph nearly causing a collision.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at a low speed, the vehicle stalled and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact had to apply force to the steering wheel in order to steer the vehicle. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. In addition, whenever the heating or air conditioning units were activated, a mold odor emitted from the air vents. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the cause of the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The dealer speculated that the software needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired. After the repair, while driving down an incline at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle hesitated to move forward. The rpms increased. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the software was reset. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 (power train); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,000. About 8 months after I got my Jeep Cherokee 2014, I had a recall done on my car. Four days later I was driving to disney world (about a 12 hour drive) when I was trying to put the gear into park when my car started jerking and wouldn't let me put the car into park. I tried to restart the car and nothing worked. Then after the 5th time it finally would go into park. I let the car rest over night and restarted it in the morning when my transmission light came on. I ended up getting it "fixed" down in flordia and had to take time and money out of the vacation to fix it. Then two years later, I got another recall done and exactly four days later the same jerking happened when I tried to put it into gear to drive. The transmission came on again. Then my mother went to pick it up from the dealership after it was "fixed" only to have the car not start for her. A week later they called to say that they replaced the transmission. I tried to tell Fiat Chrysler automobiles about the issues and get an extended warranty on the transmission but the manager has never returned my calls. I feel the car has lost it's value and is unsafe for drivers. Just wondering how long this transmission will last for.

2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude. Fwd V6. The transmission slips and has delayed engagement upon takeoff and while shifting from low speeds. Transmission also hunts for gears between 0-15 mph and will jerk car back and forth. When transmission delays engagement (pressing down gas pedal in drive but car isn't moving) it will eventually grab and spins the tires a little before going. My wife and I have had numerous close calls/near accidents due to this issue. Turning onto incoming traffic (legally) and the vehicle wont move. It can be terrifying. This mostly happens driving on city streets. I hate this car.
