Our 2016 Jeep Cherokee (latitude 4WD) has been stalling after a cold start. The battery indicator flashes and then registers a message to place the car in P to shift into gear. I have been able to restart the car after waiting 30-60 sec, sometimes while in traffic. The vehicle was at the dealership on 1/14/19 and I was told that there wasn't any oil on the dipstick. The engine is possibly burning oil but there are no indicators or status updates when the system is checked. I was told by the dealership that they are aware of an engine issue with the 2016 Jeep Cherokee. An oil consumption test is needed before the engine can be replaced (if needed). Oil consumption test initiated 1/14/19. Chrysler/Jeep is aware of this issue and has not issued a safety recall. Negligence by Chrysler for not responding to this significant defect and safety issue.

The RPM's on this transmission in this vehicle go up very high but the transmission does not shift into gear. The vehicle sputters and slows on the open road. The engine does run on all cylinders. The engine has no power. This creates a safety risk on a highway. Also the differential locks up when you have to hit the brakes and three rear of the car locks up and skids left of center. Party's of the suspension have broken for no apparent reason. The left rear control arm broke for no apparent reason. I have been informed by a Jeep dealership that this vehicle is unsafe to drive. I have filed complaints with Chrysler on three occasions informing them of the numerous issues with this vehicle. I was advised to get a diagnostic test done and they would work with me to buy this car back. I did as requested and now being informed I will probably have to go to arbitration. Three times now when I applied the brakes hard on a highway the East locked up and the left rear of my car skidded and I had no control. I nearly hit a retaining wall. I have a vehicle that the dealership has deemed unsafe to drive.

When driving I notice when I stop on the brake and gas both would not work. The dashboard icon of the battery illuminated, the notification sound played, and the car slowed to a stop. Also, the notification center displayed "shift to park". I shifted into park, placed my hazard lights on, and waved the cars that were behind me to drive around. Made the attempt to restart twice with no such luck. The third attempt saw the car turn back on successfully.....

I've had a service shifter message appear numerous times and then disappear. When I would take it in to get looked at I was told that there was no record of that code being displayed in the car log/memory and that the service department at the delearship couldn't find anything wrong with it. Upon doing research on this message I found that many other people have had this same problem and if left unchecked can cause the vechicle to shift into park while in motion causing loss of control and accidents. I have received this message while both stationary just when I turned the car on, and also while in motion on a road.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. When the vehicle was in park or drive, the gear failed to shift and a warning indicator illuminated for the shifting failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed by an authorized dealer; however, a warranty would be available within thirty days. The contact did not know if the vehicle would be repaired per the warranty. The shifter continued to function improperly. The vehicle was excluded from any power train recalls. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

I have a 2016 Jeep Cherokee bought brand new from the dealer. At approximately 15K miles, I started hearing a clicking sound when driving from driver to reverse. I went to the dealer multiple times and was told they could not figure out what was wrong with it. Finally the dealer figured out that the rear differential needed to be replaced at only 15K miles. At approximately 25K miles, I was hearing a whistling sound on the driver side front end when cruising at aprox. 20mhp or less. I took it to the dealer mult. Times and they could not figure out what was wrong with it. The dealer replaced a rear axel boot for the shaft that was throwing grease, thinking that would solve the problem but it did not. I heard the whistling once again before even leaving the lot. The dealer finally figured out the driver side front end bearing was bad and would need to be replaced. The dealer replaced the shaft axle. I have had approx 4 transmission software updates done since I have had the vehicle. The dealer states this would need to be purchased for approx $140 each time after the power train warranty expires for the Jeep. Keep in mind my Jeep has only 33K miles on it was this point. Now I have a Jeep that has a panoramic sunroof that makes noise as well when going over bumps and potholes and the dealer states they do not hear anything. I have a tire alignment done on the Jeep at 25K miles for $120. I went back to the dealer with 32K miles on it to have the sunroof checked out and they are telling me I need another alignment. So the alignment has gone out again in less than 10K miles? there has been nothing but issues with this Jeep since day one and every other Jeep I have owned in the past.

I purchased my vehicle new. Since having it the panel which displays the radio will randomly go black. I've also had several issues with acceleration. Sometimes if I'm at a red light and then it turns green the car will rev and not move anywhere for about 30 seconds. Yesterday while I was on the highway my speed dropped from 60 to 40 very fast and I was not able to accelerate at all and had to pull over on the side of the road and my transmission light came on. I've also been driving before and when I hit the brake it makes a noise like its shifting super loud and the brake clicks. My vehicle is in for service right now but I dont feel safe driving it at all. It only has 16,000 miles on it and shouldn't be having all of these issues with such low mileage. Yesterday not being able to accelerate on the highway was scary and dangerous.

When driving at a speed of 70 mph the service transmission light comes on, disabling acceleration and putting the car into 8th gear. This causes a dangerous situation where the car speed decreases instantly and requires the car to pulled over to the side of road and turn the car off then on. Chrysler is well aware of this issue but has not issued a recall for these vehicles. Instead they choose to put customers in the dangerous situation of disabling a vehicle at high speeds.

I have taken my 2016 Jeep Cherokee into the service department multiple time to have them diagnose the hesitation in the transmission, jerking into gear ( from 1st to second gear, but most of the time from 2nd to 3rd gear) and a loud clacking noise that appears to come from the bottom of the car. According to 2 different Jeep/Chrysler dealership service department that I have taken my Cherokee to be diagnose, they can't find what is wrong with the transmission and they did not expirience the jerking on the transmission during driving. They did informed me that the clacking sound coming from the bottom of the car is the catalytic converter when it gets hot makes a clacking noise, but they have no fix for it. The dealers claim they are waiting for the Jeep Inc. To come out with a fix. As if that's acceptable to force your customer to drive a noisy, hesitating brand new car. I am dumbfounded with how the dealerships Jeep / Chrysler keep sweeping this issue under the rug hoping it will go away. Time to find a solution.

While driving on highway, automatic 9 speed transmission seemed to lose all acceleration at around 60mph. The "service transmission" notification appeared on the display, and the vehicle started decelerating until it was necessary to pull over and park. Problem seemed fixed after an engine restart, but occurred again at higher speed (60mph). I don't know why 2016 vehicles were not included in the S55 recall, it is the same issue.

I've had the Jeep less than 2 years. Only 14000 miles on it. The transmission started jerking and lundging when it down shifted or started off from a stop. My daughter and I where coming back from the human society. While driving at about 50 mph I had to slow down for on coming traffic.the Jeep shifted to a lower gear and lunged so fiercely I thought the transmission had fallen off the vehicle. The vehcle immediately shut down. I was at a complete stop. Lights started flashing service transmission. I had no power to move. Im on an over pass with traffic and theres no where to go in the middle of traffic. By chance the Jeep was able to start and accelerate to 5mph and get to a safe place to pull over. It was a very serious hazard for me and my daughter and other drivers we basically glided to a complete stop in the midst of traffic while doing 50mph. Than starting it up and only doing 4 tmph. This was clearly a very dangerous situation. I dont feel safe or confendent. I paid a premium price for a vehicle that should be dependable and safe. Now the Jeep wont start. The rear button to close the hatch has quit working. The start button will not start the car at all. When it started to malfunction. It would hesatate as if the battery where dead. When it did start the settings 'climate control would be set to defrost. The a would show up on the face without being pressed. And eventually the screen would not react to touch at all. And the radio wouldnt play. But all elise seemed to work without a problem. The windows worked fine the lights where bright. There wasnt a problem with the battery. I am applauded that Jeep would think this is acceptable for a new vehicle im the comsumer. I paid for a product that has to and is a to certain expectations.

The driver information center says service shifter. When active, the manual shift doesn't work but forward reverse and park do not seem to be affected. If you stop shut off the vehicle and restart, it clears. It started doing this 6-9 months ago once in a while but now does it several times a day depending on amount of driving. We brought it into the dealer to have it checked and they said there was no codes or physical problems but could replace the shifter to see if this would fix the problem. We elected not to do this at the present time. We have heard of accidents from this so we just wanted to notify you that it is happening. We would like to address this before an accident occurs.
