Stop/Start system We took the car to get it checked out within the first month due to hard shift and for warning light. We were told the warning light for stop/start was on because it needed an update. It came back on within a few months. Then our car battery had died, changed it out, and within maybe 6 months the new one died. We changed out both batteries this last time, and the within a week the stop/start warning came back on. Now it comes on and off sporadically for the last month. So we are clueless about this stop/start and what to do about it.

When stopping at a red light the start/stop system activated and the truck would not restart. There was an alert saying service ecs system and the parking brake activated on its own. It took about 10 minutes for us to be able to deactivate the parking brake and for it to start again. This has happened 2x and only when the start/stop happens. My check engine light has come on and now I'm getting a service engine notification.

We purchased our 2018 Jeep Compass in December 2022, we started having problems with the headlights in January 2023 only 1 month after purchasing it. The headlights stopped working completely. We took the jeep to our local jeep dealership and they couldn't figure out what was going on with the headlights but confirmed it was the electrical system. They called their Electrical Engineer in and it was confirmed it was something going on with the electrical system via the headlamps so we replaced them along with the bulbs and it went again 3 months later. Meanwhile, because this is an issue with the 2018 everywhere the parts were on back order. It took us 2 months to get our car repaired. Currently, our jeep is in the shop again as it went out while my daughter was driving home from work at night in the county (where there are no street lights) and she almost ran off the road. This is a serious and dangerous issue and situation. I've seen a ton of complains for this same issue with the 2018 Jeep Compass model but I don't see where there has been a recall. I guess the recall will happen after someone loses their life per usual. Our jeep is in the shop yet again awaiting repair for the same issue. It appears we will be out of a car for another 2 months.

As I was pulling my 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk to a light off the highway exit, the vehicle did its automatic stop the engine function. After about 4 seconds a "high coolant temp, shutdown vehicle" note appeared. The engine turned off and I lost complete control. The car would not move, e-brake engaged automatically, and the vehicle would not restart. 30 minutes later someone came by to jump start the battery and the car started. I was able to drive to a safe location but I am worried this problem will continue. There was no real explanation online and I have read countless accounts of the same problem happening to others, some while driving at high speeds.

Key fob not detected since I bought certified pre-used. There-??s an oil consumption issue. There-??s a stall issue that completely cut my Jeep off in the middle of rush hour traffic almost causing an accident. I-??ve replaced batteries 2x and had to dealer 3x with them unable to reproduce symptoms. They didn-??t do the oil consumption test. Just changed oil. This Jeep is a serious hazard!!

When at a stop sign the car auto shut off. After releasing the break, the car would not restart and would not go into park. After a few minutes of panic, I was able to move the gear shifter to park and after several attempts, the car barely restarted. This also happened a previous time at a stop light.

This 2018 Jeep Compass Latitude has gone through several repairs already; a lot of them concerning the start/stop system and the battery that powers this feature. In the past 4-5 years, it's been replaced three times. In addition, the engine had to be replaced due to high oil burn. As of recent, the vehicle has started displaying "Stop safely. Vehicle with Shut Off Soon" message; especially during highway cruising. This has posed a highly increased safety risk for my family and there seems to be no way for the dealer to address the problem because they cannot replicate it. We had a baby in the car and had to pull over using the cars momentum to exit the highway as safely as we could in a dangerous situation. On April 9, 2023, May 19, 2023 June 4, 2023 and today June 7, 2023 as I was driving the car stopped without warning. In both insistence in June I was entering the highway and had to pull over. In the upper right of the dashboard where it states the operation (i.e R for for reserve, d for drive and etc) it changed from "RUN" to "On". I looked down and noticed the emergency parking brake was engaged. I looked at the dashboard and it gave instructions to push and deactivate the parking brakes. The car remained "On" however" I had to turn the car off and restart it. I have called for repair and they can not get to it until the end of June. I am VERY afraid to drive the car and do not have extra cash for a rental. This is my only vehicle and can not be off of work or do my care taking without a car. I only have 30, 000 miles on it as of last week. I have the Mopar warranty and wonder why I can't get a car that I can drive until they figure out what is wrong. It is extremely dangerous if I had gotten on the expressway. I have very concerned.

A few months after purchase, my hazard lights came on while the vehicle was off and parked in my driveway. I couldn't get them to turn off until I disconnected the battery. I scheduled a diagnostic with the jeep dealership and before I could get it in, it started happening while I was driving it as well. I never know when it's going to happen. At the diagnostics appointment, they told me it's a problem with the electrical system but that they weren't sure exactly what is causing it. They offered to replace two parts at about $1,500 cost to me that "might" keep it from happening again. They wouldn't honor the warranty. When I reached out to Jeep directly, they told me it isn't covered. Since then it's gotten worse. The auto start/stop system doesn't work. Sometimes the hazard lights won't come on at all. I've been pulled over for driving with them on and I've been unable to turn them on when I needed them. I spoke with someone at Jeep again today because they have been on for that last 2.5 hours and I have to start my car periodically to keep the battery from dying, and was told I needed to take it to another dealership and pay for another diagnostic. I don't feel safe driving this car. I stopped at rest area recently and my hazards stuck on when I got back in the car. I disconnected the battery to reset it but it happened again as soon as the battery was reconnected. I had to drive on the highway with them on. I can't signal lane changes or turns and people get in front of me, slow down, and turn their hazards on to try and let me know that mine are too. This isn't safe and Jeep won't take care of it.

While driving the "coolant temperature high" warning message occasionally pops up and it shows that the temperature is as high as it can go on the temperature meter. It will then shut my engine down and not allow me to resume driving until I completely turn my car off and back on again. After turning it back on, my coolant temperature always reads completely normal between 190-200 degrees Fahrenheit. This problem has occurred multiple times including while I have been on the interstate, in the middle of an intersection, and in heavy traffic. My safety has been severely put at risk multiple times as my car has stopped moving while I was in the process of turning in an intersection and risked being hit from behind and from the side. I have also been in heavy interstate traffic and have been unable to pull-over before my car fully stops moving which puts me at high risk of being hit. I have taken my car to the dealership to have it looked at and they ran diagnostics which showed that there has never been an issue with my coolant system. They have since done an electrical diagnostic as well with which they could not find an issue relating to the coolant system. They replaced my auxiliary battery as they believed it was bad and could have been the cause of my electrical issues and this seemed to cause the issue to go away for a month and a half, but then it started occurring again. The issue also occurs very spontaneously and I have not noticed any signs prior to the issue occurring. Given that it could potentially be days, weeks, or a month before the issue reoccurs, the dealership has not been able to witness the error message or what happens. This issue has occurred on and off for about a year and a half but has started occurring more frequently lately with about seven occurrences in the past five months, the most recent being a significant concern for my safety with my car stopping in an intersection while turning during rush hour.

Approximately 15 minutes later the same thing happened while driving in traffic.was sitting in moving traffic very dangerous.Drove directly to Jeep Dealer luckily I have a extended warranty but I had to pay a $100 deductible out of my pocket. And was told by Dealer that it is fixed a Hood sensor.

Vehicle has intermittently turned itself off while driving, locks the brake, and will not restart for a few minutes. Causing a serious safety concern as its happened while driving down the interstate. I have taken it to two different repair shops that can not find a cause.
