Rotors have been replaced three times this year, April, August and December. Each time brakes started pulsating. Second incident the brakes actually started seizing up while driving on highway. When the vehicle was stopped and turned off, the brake lights were still on, indicating that the brakes were still engaged. Dealer never questions replacing rotors each time and each time they are under warranty and at no cost to consumer. I worry about the safety factor of will these brakes be at peak efficiency when I really need them.

Vehicle is having many problems with ABS and brakes, on one occasion, front brakes locked up, causing skidding and shaking throughout steering wheel, tsb 879 has been complete, rotors have been found warped several times and have been replaced, brake pads have been replaced, pulsation and vibration are felt due to faulty brakes, however dealer can not remedy problem. Torque converter was replaced, consumer states that a noise is in the transmission after driving a while. Engine surges while driving at 55 mph and above.

Brakes have been a problem for the past 8 months but was told that I may not be driving Jeep "properly". the brakes would squeak, steering would shudder, occasionally brake would lose pressure at a stop & the sound of metal on metal heard. Brakes were checked with no reported problem. I had to replace brakes & rotors as it was difficult to control the vehicle &another incident of brakes going to floor at a stop sign. Dealer said its normal for brakes/rotors to be replaced at this time(it's poor quality materials in rotors in my opinion) & since they can't reproduce the brake problem, there is no problem.

While driving about 35-40 mph +, there is vibration every time when braking which may cause extended stopping distance. Took to dealer 3 times. Dealer resurfaced rotor and replaced rotor. Currently, there is a tsb on this problem which dealer needs to replace rotors and brake pads. Recently, the dealer replaced brake pads and resurfaced front and rear rotors.

Rotors on front brakes overheating and warping..dealer cannot seem to solve problem even by replacing with new rotors. Terrible vibration when braking. Also transmission makes a loud clunking sound when stopped and shifting. Last item is that front tires are cupping...dealer stated that is because the vehicle has full time 4 wheel drive.

I contacted NHTSA last week. Update: I received a technical service bullitin #05-01-00 rev a dated 14 April 00. Under discussion the bullitin states, " a new brake pad repair kit has been released which contains an adhesive backing. This will provide for a more positive release of the brake pad when the brake pedal is released. This, in turn will move the pad away from the rotor, resulting in less friction and wear, which resulted from the pad resting on the rotor when brakes were not applied." The bullitin goes into the repair and then goes into the policy. The policy is "reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty" remember, I had the brakes and rotors changed in Jan 2000. Nine months later I need to repair them again but I have to pay for the repairs. Reading this bulletin makes it obvious that chryselor knows that they are at fault but are placing the cost to the customer. Totally unfair! this could be a safety issue. If you read the bulletin it states that the Jeep will vibrate at the steering wheel and seat. This could cause a person to panic at a high rate of speed. Please put me on the list of comlainers about this problem and let me know what Chrysler position is with this problem. Chrysler does not want to give me any explanation except "sorry if you feel this way". thank you! sfc dudzik.

The day I took delivery of vehicle I told lithia Jeep the brakes were squeeling & felt as if they were dragging at slow speeds. They said this was normal during the break-in period. These problems did not get any better so at each service (3,000 miles) I asked the service dept to check the brakes for problems & each time they said the brakes were within specs so they made no repairs. Now several times a week the ABS & brake lights come on. I have taken vehicle in several times for this problem but the service dept can't find what the problem is so this brake problem remains uncorrected as of today. I am very uneasy because I do not know if there is a brake problem or not so I do not drive the vehicle any more than is absolutely necessary, and when I do I drive with one hand on the emergency brake lever at all times.
