I will be stopped at a light or in traffic when all of a sudden the RPM's will become very erratic. The needle will jump up and down from 700 to 200 to 0 etc. The vehicle has stalled on several occasions in the middle of traffic almost causing a rear end collision. The problem only happens when the car is in drive, with foot on the brake. Been to dealership several times. They have connected a Chrysler co-Pilot to monitor and record problem. Have recorded problem several times. Currently waiting for a response. I do know of 3 other people with 1999 Grand Cherokee that have the same problem. Since the vehicle does stall out in the middle of traffic, it does represent a safety issue. Since this obviously is not exclusive to me, Chrysler needs to fix the problem immediately, or take back the vehicle. Again this is a brand new Jeep. For the record, I have had other defects with this vehicle, although minor compared to this one. Defects include rattles, window motor failures etc.

The window on this vehicle has not worked for some time now and I am concerned for the safety of my family. The window does not work at all. I have had this vehicle into our local dealership three times now and they can't seem to fix it nor do they take me seriously. I would appreciate any help I can get.

I bought two Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles in April of '99. In both vehicles, the window regulators have stopped working. I can't roll-down the windows, and the problem can't be fixed immediately, because the parts are on a national back-order list, so other Jeep owners must be experiencing similar problems.

Our 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee is 4 months old and is nothing but trouble; the transfer case was replaced, the car makes a grinding noise at highway speeds and the dealer thought the replacement of the transfer case would solve the problem. It didn't however. Furthermore the gear oil had to be replaced because the car would buck and even stall sometimes when I would make tight turn. Furthermore the transmission is sometimes clunking. Our power window needs a new motor. The car keeps on pulling to the right and that still hasn't been fixed. We have been very disappointed and wish the lemon law would be a little bit more protective of consumers than car dealers and manufacturers.
