Overheating could potentially cause a fire or injury. I was made aware if this 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee recall by a friend who bought a used 2003 Jeep gc. He mentioned the dealer performed the recall for the seat heater. Searching your recall database I found the exact recall as described to me. I contacted my local dealer and found that our VIN is not included in the recall notice. I the contacted the NHTSA, who verified the dealers finding. The NHTSA suggested that I file a complaint to have our vehicle added to the recall. We have experienced the issue as described. The seat will heat up to an extreme temperature, they now don''t' work. We got heated seats as my wife has lupus and needs the warmth during colder weather. How can we get our vehicle added the recall?? thanks

Grand Cherokee

  • 100,000 miles
The contact owns a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact heard a snapping sound from under the seat and noticed that the front driver side seat began to rock back and forth abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised that the adjuster weld to the front driver side seat was fractured and would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The heater in the front driver seat started at first to heat up and nearly burn the legs of the driver on high, had to set the control to low to keep from burning the legs of the driver. After coming home from work the power light showed that the seat was still on, yet the drivers heated seat does not work anymore. Smelled something burning prior to shutting the engine off after drive home. Since then the heated seat in the drivers side does not work anymore. All other controls for power seats adjustments work fine. I called Jeep dealer for repair, come to find over 100,000 vehicles have had this problem which required a recall on the heated seats (recall no. F17, and J14) id# 06V197000, and 09V117000. I have the same problem that requires repair but they will not fix the issue under recall.

My front driver seat bracket has snapped in 4 spots. This now leaves my front seat very un-secure to the vehicle and is very shifty. This is a safety issue that needs to have a recall as this has happened to many other people with the same model Jeep as mine. The seat brackets and mounts are of poor quality and break easily. As result of this, my seat belt is useless because if I don't have a seat that is secured to the vehicle, what good will a seat belt do in a collision? Chrysler is aware of this problem yet are doing nothing about this. They beg for our tax dollars to bail them out of financial hardship but yet they wont help consumers that buy their products with real safety concerns. I just hope it doesn't take a death to occur for them to open their eyes. Recall the [xxx] seats!!! information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The seat frame on the drivers side has broken in half. This should be a priority safety recall as this doesn't seem to be an isolated incident. Seems more like a design flaw by a company cutting corners. See the attached website for more Jeep owners that have had the same problem with their vehicle. vlane.com/poll/30/2001-Jeep-grand-Cherokee-has-your-driver-side-front-seat-broken-on-this-Jeep.

I have owned a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee for two years. In December 2010 I was driving in traffic with my I infant daughter and all of a sudden my seat like snapped off at the bottom and I am in the back seat. Luckily no one was hurt. The metal broke. I know im like the millionth complaint. I am a single mom and cannot afford to have this expense or risk getting into an accident. This is a serious safety issue that needs your immediate attention.

The front drivers power seat, broke from it's frame, the part was welded and broke a second time. The seat is unstable and in an accident could break away from the track and wind up in the rear seat. The airbag would be ineffective.

I had just bought this vehicle and taking the off ramp in a hard arc while slowing down I felt the drivers seat move. I only had a couple of hundred yards to go so I waited to check it when I got home. The front left seat bracket had sheared away leaving the seat sitting at a funny angle. This is a dangerous thing to happen. Luckily, no one was hurt.

The drivers side seat has a broken bracket that allows the assembly to rock back and forth. It was perfectly fine until last week. I have owned this vehicle since 2002 and the seat was never a problem. I have found numerous complaints about seat breakage on the Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and many other Jeep models. This is a safety issue when all attachment points break and the seat is no longer attached to the mounts.

For the second time in 5 years the drivers side seat support has broken. Both time the break has occurred on the front left corner. The broken part is of the support assembly, it is a tube that pivots to allow for up/down adjustments and holds the weight of the seat.

Drivers side seat bracket has broken for second time due to normal use. If seat bracket breaks from normal use, how can it stand-up in an accident? also it is not readily apparent when it breaks, so crash integrity is already compromised. Repair is $400 new bracket, or over $800 for my Jeep. Old part will be retained in my garage. I thought I was the only one with this problem, but the internet is filled with people with the same issue. I think it is far more dangerous than the seat heater issue I just got recall for.R

I was driving my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I noticed my seat starting to wobble. Finally I noticed that the seat bracket snapped on the driver side. This is a total safety issue. I have taken it to Jeep for repair and they advise there is no recall.. how can this be?. oh and what's the point of wearing a seat belt of the seat isn't even strong enough to stay secure to the vehicle.
