I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 5.7V8. Started having a problem with the car after having it for 2 years. It would choke and want to shut off in the middle of the road. A recall for the fuel pump relay was sent and we took it in. The repair was done and we did not have any problems for another 2 years. In the last 3 months the car has shut off unexpectedly again while driving. It has done this at least 8 times. My husband, who drives the car, has really gotten close to getting into a serious accident due to this problem. We took the car in the first time this happened to the dealership, paid the $125 diagnostic fee and were told they could not detect a problem. We told our local Chrysler dealership later as we did research that we suspect the Fuel Pump Relay has gone bad again but they say that can't be the problem because it has already been "repaired". The car has the problem the most in the morning when my husband is on his way to work. When we looked on other websites with owners who had similar complaints, these same owners with similar cars also stated they had the issue in the morning. Our concern is that one day this will happen and a serious accident will happen that could potentially take my husband's life. After having spend well over $40,000 on the purchase of this car not including interest charged by the bank for the car loan I don't understand why a permanent solution has not been found to this problem. Many people who have Chrysler vehicles have this problem. It is irresponsible to ignore this, especially when it risks the lives of its consumers. Chrysler needs to come up with a permanent solution to this problem now.

I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I bought new. For the most part, the vehicle has been a good, dependable daily driver. It isn't my first Jeep nor my first Chrysler product and I get along fine with the local dealership but the engine has stalled several times in the past and now has started failing more frequently recently. It throws no code in the computer and the dealership has been unable to come up with a cause or solution, yet I read on sites such as this one of 100s of the exact same complaint. I am taking it in again next week with a case file # from Chrysler to try again to solve the problem. It stalled in heavy rush hour traffic this morning and I felt my ticket was about to be punched!
There is NO WAY this vehicle should be on the road doing what it is doing. If the representatives of the manufacturer, the dealership, can't fix it, you would think that Chrysler wouldn't let it out of the dealership like this!
Wish me a capable and caring technician that cares about saving my life!

While driving the jeep shuts off. It doesn't give a code. It doesn't matter how cold or hot it is out, it is very sporadic. I have had it in two different dealerships over 6 times for this problem and have even had a co pilot put in where I thought it was suppose to record the problem but did not. The dealerships have driven it and of course it did not stall for them. It is unsafe to drive. I am at the point of trading it in as I will never fully trust it. The dealerships think they have it fixed and it keeps happening.
I have reached out to Chrysler but they can't seem to figure it out either. Not sure what else I can do at this point. I can't drive it because I am worried it may stall and I will end up getting hit by someone else because I will not be able to get it started in time.
the dealership I have it at now is trying hard to figure it out they have been very good to me with it. The first dealership I took it to would not return call after the fourth time I took it in.

My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee will stall/shut off when driving. Has happened 4 times and is a very dangerous situation. I have noted that it happens while decelerating and taking a turn. Near miss each time. Needs immediate attention.

In the last 30 days my Jeep has shut down while driving a minimum of 5 times. These shut downs have happened since the 1/2015 recall for the TIPM. I have had diagnostics completed on the Jeep 3/10/2016 with no codes generated, no fixes & no issues note by the dealership that completed the recall repairs in 1/2015.
The Jeep key fobs are not recognized when trying to enter or exit the vehicle. The Jeep will also indicate the fob has left the vehicle when it is still in the running vehicle. The Jeep is blowing thru light bulbs monthly with replacement of fog lights, head lights, tail lights & day time running lamps regularly.
Dealer has no fixes & wants to charge me for each diagnostic for the same issue within 30 days. I feel unsafe driving my financed Jeep. What happens if the Jeep shuts down at night with my kids in the car? No lights, no power & limited control?
Update from Apr 8, 2016: Took the Jeep for diagnostics AGAIN (2nd time in less than 30 days) due to stalling 5+ times over the last month since the 3/10/16 diagnostic due to stalling issues & AGAIN was told they could not find anything wrong with my Jeep. They completed tests on various & updated software in Jeep.
They had no solution other than to allow them to keep the vehicle to be driven to replicate issue or to start throwing money at various parts to see if get resolved.

It started when I purchased my (awesome) Grand Cherokee in January of 2015. Week or so after I had this very loud clicking noise from the front. The noise began to get louder until I pulled over and turned my vehicle off. Next thing you know my air suspension is out..... Luckily I had taken it into the dealer on the last day of my 30 day coverage. Total cost of repair mounted to be over 1500$. I did not pay for this. My guess it had to do something with TIPM because since the suspension runs of a mini compressor there must have been some kind of failure in this system.
After about two, three months of smooth running, the engine first stalled on me in the middle of an intersection. I had no throttle control. So I freaked out for a second as it was getting dark and there was traffic inbound. Finally put the vehicle in park and started it again to get out of the way of the oncoming vehicles. I got really lucky someone wasn't texting and driving.... This is a major problem, as many are saying that this similarity has happened to them also. In the last few weeks I have had my radio screen freeze, engine stalls, and close calls. Right now I do not trust to drive it so I'm driving my old clunker Jetta.
If this problem is not addressed correctly by FCA, there is going to be a family that suffers from someone getting hurt or killed. Plz everyone who has experienced this report your issue to the FCA. Be safe and have a great day.

The first time we've bought a used car (not from a Jeep dealer), October '15. One day it wouldn't start, the key fob couldn't be removed from the ignition. Had it towed to a dealer. They fixed recalls and "rebooted" the battery and said it was all better. Weird.... This morning, in the rain, in the dark, the car died in the middle of a busy road. Thank God the police saw him there fairly quickly...no lights, no power at all. It wouldn't start again. Off it goes to the dealer we used last time. They say they probably won't be able to fix it because it likely won't show any codes. We will not let our 16-yr old drive the car until it is truly fixed, but after reading other complaints, it sounds like there is no answer. What to do? It was supposedly a very nice used car.... clearly we got hosed.

While driving and approaching a corner (almost always one of the two same corners) the car dies mid-corner. It is almost always upon exiting the corner.
This has happened six times. Every time we take it to the dealer ASAP. Each time they say they cannot help because they cannot recreate the problem.
Called Chrysler, they are also unable to help. I have contacted Chrysler twice about this issue. We are considering hiring a lemon law attorney.
Update from Sep 6, 2016: Just an update, the same issue of stalling/engine shutting down while driving is still occurring. I have had the car to the Jeep dealer numerous times (at least 6 times) and they still say they can not do anything because they cannot recreate the problem.
I have called Chrysler several times to get a case number only to have them tell me they can not find a record of my previous case(s) when I call back.
There is some funny business happening here.

My car stall every morning, almost in the exact same location while I am making a turn. I monitor fuel level, speed, rpms, whether or not I am braking or on the gas.The only common denominator is the fact that I am turning. Which is scary because I lose power steering and almost ran into a fence today. Has anyone received any mail regarding this issue from a law firm stating that this is a lemon law issue. I will be calling them today.
My Jeep also states that the right turn lamp is out when in fact it is working fine. Yesterday, my radio stopped working, the navi screen was fine and all other functions worked except for the volume, I could not hear anything on any setting, CD, Radio, AUX, Sat, or Bluetooth. After parking and letting it sit while I shopped it worked fine.

Today, I was driving my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit, slowed down for a railroad crossing, FCW light came on, "Internal System Error/Vehicle Unavailable" displayed on the control panel, Jeep shut OFF, no power steering, no power brakes and a large grain truck coming up fast behind me. I barely had enough "roll" left to get over the crossing and half the Jeep out of the road. Once stopped, I was able to put the Jeep into Park and restart it, and it started just like nothing happened. This is the second time this has happened, but after stalling on the train tracks, I want to make sure it doesn't happen again.
I bought this used in August 2015 and even used it wasn't cheap. The dealership said the recall was done on this Jeep, but the symptoms sure resemble those in the TIPM recall. Do you have any tips or suggestions to take with me when I take my Jeep in tomorrow??

While driving the car from going from the highway to the off ramp, the car completing dies out without warning. I brought the car to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong. The first time it happened I thought it was a fluke. About 1 month later, I had the same problem. Coming off the highway onto the on-ramp. Luckily I was able to put the car into neutral and it started right away avoiding the car behind me hitting me.

This car was purchased used in Feb 2015, from CarMax. In the 10 months that we have owned it, it has "stalled" out while driving four times. It seems to occur when I'm going about 40-50 mph and approach traffic slowing down/going around a turn. The FCW warning flashes and then the car completely shuts off (loss of power steering). I then have to calmly come to a stop in order to put the car in park and restart. Luckily no one has rear-ended me, nor have I hit anything/anyone.
The first two times it happened were spread over a long period, however the third & fourth times happened within a week. I took it into a Jeep Dealership on the same day of the last "incident" and the service dept couldn't recover any code or find anything wrong. I even asked them to check the TIPM as people complain about on this forum. They kept it overnight and drove it the next AM. Everything checked out. This car was purchased as a safety/upgrade car. I am currently five months pregnant and fear for mine and my unborn child.
I am calling Chrysler and filing a complaint as well. There must be a significant problem with these cars if they just shut down while driving - this is a serious concern for safety. If anyone has any suggestions to the problem (other than TIPM) I'm all ears.

Engine Stalling. Battery drained change alternator, and battery still not holding charge. Battery Light , light on trunk is on and off. The remote works sometimes had to replace battery so many times. Took to dealer to deal with recall of Totally Integrated Power Module. Drove car a couple miles and the car stop. Will take to dealer today. The 2011 Grand Cherokee Jeep have the most problems. These car should be replaced. We spend too much money for these cars..

This morning while driving my 2011 Grand Jeep Cherokee, I was about to get on the expressway and the entire car shut off while I was driving. No lights to indicate my car failed just died. I slid, due to slick wet roads. No power steering no brakes and nearly took out a traffic light. Happy Thanksgiving to me. Thank God I didn't hurt anyone or myself. Thank God my 3 year old was not in the vehicle. I drive for a living and if this happened while going 65 mph on the expressway with the road conditions I would have killed someone. I have had numerous issues with my very expensive American SUV. Reading everyone's complaints looks like there is no recall for this and I'm gonna get the run around at the dealership. This car is a death trap. Will be going to the dealer ship tomorrow with all your complaints in hand and want to see what they say. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Really didn't think much of it, thought maybe it was something I did. At a light my engine died, but all indicators seemed that it was on. Light turned green and I had no gas, brake was heavy and couldn't steer. Went into park and hit start and it started right up. I was lucky not to be rear ended.

This is the second time the engine just died while driving. I had no clue it was off, I was coming off a highway exit making a right turn at about 35 mph heading into oncoming traffic!! HOLY CRAP, was able get the dead wheel to get me into the median while pushing into neutral and restarting. I called Chrysler and told me I needed to got service called service and they couldn't fit me in for another 2 weeks. someone is going to die because of this, I cant afford to rent a car while this going on, this is so scary, I will never buy another Chrysler, they need to do a recall ASAP

Car continues to stall while driving. I am concerned for my personal safety. I never know when it is going to happen and it makes driving extremely uncomfortable since there is always that possibility that it may stall and I may be involved in a serious collision.

This was the third time this vehicle has shut down or hesitated while driving in the last year. The first two visits to the dealer resulted in software updates and recall notices fixed. This recent incident occurred on an off ramp. The vehicle hesitated with power loss and shudder, then came back to life. Message shown at the time was related to the vehicle returning to normal ride height. Took it to the dealer who said there were no fault codes showing, was sent to the service manager, who checked the codes again and one appeared. He thought that was odd. Upon leaving with a rental car, we asked the dealer to check the codes again and the code they had just found was gone. Very bizarre, and a very unsafe vehicle.

The car will shut off for no apparent reason. It has happened occasionally for no apparent reason. The car must be put in neutral to restart, all while not having power steering or brakes. I have taken car to dealer, but diagnostics has shown no error codes. Of course each time I call to ask for possible fix to problem I am advised to bring in vehicle for another diagnostic check ( $85 ). I think this is a problem that Chrysler should research and find a fix for. I think it is a very dangerous malfunction of the car.

While stationed in Moron, Spain, my car completely shut down while driving. It was around 0650 at 50 mph and slowing as I approached a stop sign. With no power steering available, I had to strong arm my car into the turn and away from oncoming traffic. I quickly put the car in neutral, restarted the car, and continued to base. I have been deployed twice to Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia and that fear didn't match what I experienced that day. I dread the day this happens while my wife and daughter are with me.
