The engine and all systems stop; turn off without notice. Actually not a stall, but all power ceases to work abruptly. The car then must be stopped fully to allow a restart. Without power steering or brakes the car is immediately subject to a rear end collision. It has always occurred at speeds around 15 to 20 mph, and normally when slowing. Jeep dealers have been unable to fix the problem and, of course I cannot duplicate for them as it occurs without notice periodically. Jeep recently, finally issued a recall for a fix but the problem continues even after their "fix". the car does have an aftermarket supplemental braking system to allow towing by an rv. That has been disconnected as a possible cause, but the stalls have continued. I can't drive the car nor will I allow my family to do so.

The first incident happened at the end of April. While driving, after crossing a busy street, I suddenly lost power and engine response. After having it towed to the nearest repair shop, I had to have the fuel pump and sender replaced. This is when I was made aware there is a fuel kit relay recall. Now, barely 4 weeks later, this exact same thing has happened again. With apparently no remedy to the recall yet, I am now left paying for the same exact repairs I just had done less than 150 miles ago. This time it happened after crossing into another state, about 45 minutes from home. The time, cost and hassle of all this has been completely unacceptable. Luckily, I was able to get out of the way of major traffic...luckily!

Driving to work in stop and go traffic. Vehicle started to sound extremely loud and acceleration was sluggish. Traffic opened up and from 20 mph increasing to 51 mph noticed (and heard) the RPM was at 6. continued to drive and the RPM neared 7 (the red zone) as I continued to accelerate. Put on the hazards, pulled to the shoulder and turned the vehicle off. Sat for about 2 minutes and restarted. Everything returned to normal and made it to work without further incident. It seems that the vehicle was stuck in first or second gear.

After driving to work 29 miles while waiting for day shift to get out so I can get a parking spot while in park with the engine running for around 15 minutes I then put it in drive with my foot pressed very hard on the brake pedal the engine revs up to a very high rpms and my Jeep moves forward even though I have all my pressure on the brake and I am a male at 210 pounds. This has happened over a dozen times since I have owned this vehicle. I bought this vehicle brand new and the dealer I bought it from says they can not find anything wrong. It is going back to the dealer Monday 2/23/2015 again for this problem and to replace a shock. The last time they said all they could find was that the trany fluid was low not sure what that has to do with my problem. Anyway I really love my Jeep however this is a very dangers problem. I work at Chrysler second shift and when day shift lets out there are over 100 workers leaving and if my foot was not pressed firmly on the brake I could have hit one of them. I have the 5.7 hemmi engine and personally I think it is a computer issue however I am not a mechanic so like I say that's just my personal thinking. The vehicle mileage I gave you is a close guess I am not able to get the exact mileage at the time I am sending this to you. Should be give or take around 100 miles. I can go a month or what ever with no problem then bam it happens. My phone number is [xxx ]feel free to call me if you have any questions. The water pump and radiator have gone bad, also the driving lights and the fog lights keep burning out. There seems to be a mechanical problem. This has cost me approx. $2000 in repair cost. I have noticed on the road other vehicles like mine that have there lights burned out. Also my repair shop informed me that he sees quit a few cracked radiators.

I have a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I have taken my car to the dealership twice now for the engine stalling as I climb a hill and for it kicking into gear when sitting still with my foot still on the brake. The car jerks extremely hard to the point where you think you have been hit by another car. It also does this when switching between the first 3 gears. The first time I took it in, the dealership told me they had to adjust the computer on the engine. This did not work as I am still experiencing the same issue. I also have noticed a decrease in my mileage per gallon. I was getting 14 and am now getting 9 miles per gallon. My outlet buttons are all sticking on my dashboard and are hard to the touch to turn on. When trying to turn on one button, all buttons light up. Ie..parking assistance, skid control, etc. My headlights also would not turn on when driving. The only lights that worked were the high beams. This has happened to me three times while driving. The dealership states that they can not replicate the issue.

In general, the car would not start when brake was pressed and the start button was pushed. This happened six times. First four times the engine would just turn over but not start. Last two times, the engine started for about two to three seconds then died. Attempting to start it again resulted in the engine turning over but not starting. During all of the six attempts the engine only started and stayed running after three or four attempts. When I've taken the vehicle to the dealer I was told that there may be a bad win module, which was supposedly replaced. When asked about the tipm I was told that they have to begin diagnosis starting with other parts.

In about one of every thirty starts, the engine dies quickly even though the dash still says "run". I have taken it to the Jeep dealer about 4 times, but they have no fix & I am afraid it will happen while the Jeep is moving.

Grand Cherokee 6-cyl

My problem has persisted since I purchased the vehicle in November of 2012. I hit the ignition switch and the car starts and then dies. I try to hit the button again and it just cranks and cranks and won't start. The only way to get it to turn on is to cycle on and off the ignition switch and try it again. I brought it into the dealership and they said unless they can recreate the issue they can't identify the problem, and also claimed they did research and couldn't come up with any similar complaints and sent me home. I did about five minutes worth of online research and found the tipm issue along with countless complains about ignition switch issues. I called the dealership and reported my findings. They were familiar with the tipm issue, but said they can't just replace a part unless it can be proved that is the issue.

In April my car started randomly not starting. It's happened 4 times and been in the shop once for this issue. It is going again Monday 6/16 for the same issue. It will randomly not start, it randomly tries to stall on me. It will randomly not respond to pushing the power button. It will randomly make a high pitched squealing noise. It is very scary when it tries to stall because I can be riding down the interstate at 65 mph when it happens or sitting still at a red light. I drive over 120 miles per day and I cannot be stranded or stall out in the middle of the road. It's going to the shop again Monday to address the issue for the second time. Makes the 5th time the car has been in the shop for various issues since I've had it less than 15 months.

While parking in a parking lot with my foot on the brake pedal, the engine RPM's surged and I had to apply extremely hard force on the brake pedal and shift into neutral to stop after traveling 10 to 15 feet. This happened again and I took the Jeep to yark service in toledo oh. They ran a diagnosis and could not find any codes. My wife took the Jeep and while parking had the same problem. Before she could stop the vehicle ran into a post and sustained damage. I called Jeep customer service and reported it as a safety problem on Aug 31. I was told to take it back to the service dept. They said nothing could be done at that time. I took it back the next week and the service manager was not available.

The contact owns a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that an unknown substance was emitted from the ventilation system. As a result, the contact experienced burns to the hands, a foul taste of metal, and an inebriated sensation. The contact was hospitalized however, they were unable to determine the exact substance that caused the symptoms. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed that the radiator was emitting a substance through the ventilation system. The actual substance that caused the injury to the contact was unknown. The dealer replaced the radiator, hoses, thermostat, cooling fluid, and filters in the engine cooling system. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with a new vehicle. The failure mileage was 306. The current mileage was 1,300.

When pulling away from a stop light, the engine started revving very quickly (tachometer registered approx.5 rpms) but the vehicle had absolutely no acceleration or speed. No engine light came on, no warnings were evident. I pulled into the parking lot @ work traveling at approx. 20mph despite hearing the engine revving very loudly. When I lifted my foot off the accelerator, the speed decreased unusually fast. The dealer was able to fit me in that afternoon. The problem did not occur 8 hrs later on the way to the dealer. Service department stated "we drove the car for several miles, hooked it up to the computer. There were no "codes" and we could not replicate the problem." The service guy suggested I bring it back if it happens again. I take the xway to work and back so it will totally suck if it happens again.

Lost all power while driving on highway on Friday of memorial day weekend. Lost brakes and steering too. Luckily was able to coast to a stop on the shoulder. Tried to restart multiple times, and starter just whirred over and over and over. I couldn't even do anything to stop it from attempting to start. It would ultimately give up. Roadside assistance sent a tow. The next day at the dealership it started, but it's still there for the long holiday weekend. Luckily I wasn't towing my travel trailer. I'm afraid to drive it as I've read of many instances similar to this recurring many times.

Jeep was stopped at light and I stepped on accelerator after light changed. Engine revved up and car took off and picked up speed and I pressed on the brake, but the rpms wouldn't go down, even with the brake pressed and the car not moving the rpms were at almost 7000. The Jeep kept on wanting to go fast. I put it in neutral and it shifted hard into neutral. The electronic throttle control light came on and stayed red until I pulled over and shut the car off. It doesn't even have 1500 miles yet! this is the third time this has happened. I should have bought a Honda Pilot. I truly regret having bought this piece of S...! now I'm stuck with it for the next 5 years.
