While driving vehicle it doesn't matter if it is highway speeds or street speeds, transmission shifts into neutral and makes car stall. Almost got into at least 4 accidents because of the issue, glad drivers behind me were paying attention and quickly avoid the accident. I have to wait at least ten minutes before car will start again, during those ten minutes car will try to start but without luck. No check engine light, been to at least 5 different shops and no one can say what is wrong because check engine light is not on. And issue happens randomly and technicians Haven't been able to replicate issue. It is a safety hazard. I know jeep Cherokee have a recall for something similar. But it doesn't apply to mine since mine is a Grand Cherokee. Model before mine 2011 to 2013 have a recall for a similar issue but it doesn't apply to mine because mine is a 2014.

My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee started to leak oil slowly. We started to smell a burning scent when accelerating. This problem has slowly happened for a while before an oil light showed up on the dash. We took it to the mechanic & had an diagnostic test done. It was confirmed that our oil filter housing was leaking. This issue could have destroyed our engine. While pricing this repair, we've contacted several mechanics and all have stated that this oil filter housing is a major issue for Mopar (Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Fiat). The parts are sold out of Auto Zone, NAPA, Advanced Auto Parts and can only be purchased on the Mopar site or Amazon. The issue with the part is that it's plastic which dries, cracks & can be easily warped. Dorman has made an aluminum replacement which is hard to come by due to the amount of people that are constantly having to repair this part. The oil filter housing was poorly constructed/designed. This is a major malfunction that could completely ruin a vehicle. There are several YouTube videos, blogs and articles discussing this issue. This should've been recalled voluntarily but I'd like to know that I won't have to replace this part again on my dime in the future when a faulty designed item was placed into my car which is a large investment.

*NHTSA Please Help* I purchased my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee brand new in June 2014 from a FCA authorized dealership. I have meticulously maintained, gently driven, and greatly cared for this Jeep since day one. Have only ever had the Jeep serviced at the FCA authorized dealership where I purchased. I have followed and complied with all Jeep manufacturer service recommendations since day one. At 115,000 miles, I am currently experiencing a loud ticking noise resulting from failed rocker arms and failed lifters. These failed rocker arms and lifters will result in complete and catastrophic engine failure. I am also experiencing significant engine oil leaking coming from a failed oil cooler. The Mopar oil cooler in this 3.6 Pentastar engine is made of plastic, and is highly susceptible to failure. I have talked to multiple ASE Certified Mechanics that both issues I am currently experiencing are extremely common amongst these 3.6 Liter Pentastar V6 24 Valve VVT engines. I feel very unsafe as the owner and operator of this Jeep Grand Cherokee, and have lost all confidence as it relates to the safety and reliability of this vehicle. If the vehicle cannot provide reliable and safe transportation, that completely eliminates all safety as a driver and for all passengers of this vehicle. *NHTSA* Please help the owners of the vehicles with these engines with appropriate recalls and procedures to ensure the safety of our vehicles. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at highway speeds, the emissions filter warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact then stated that the error message disappeared while he was driving; however, a message reading "Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid quality detected. No engine starts in 200 miles" appeared on the instrument panel. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was instructed to bring the in vehicle for an inspection. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

It has been 5 months since I received a notice from Jeep that my vehicle has a recall due to a possible fuel pump failure (NHTSA# 22V-406). At the time I received the notice there were no parts available to remedy this problem. The parts are still unavailable. This is unacceptable. I worry when driving the car that it might leave me stranded in a dangerous situation. I have explored selling the car back to the Jeep dealer but they don't want it due to the open recall and I can't in good conscience sell it privately. When the open recall is brought up no one wants it. How long are Jeep owners in this situation supposed to wait for this to be fixed. It seems like 5 months is too long. What is NHTSA doing to remedy this?

My son started the Jeep Monday morning and the engine light came on which has never happened before. Then something occurred under the hood and there was a fire. Luckily my son was able to get to a garden hose and put out the fire but now I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has fire damage and needs to be taken into a Jeep dealership for repairs. I have only had the vehicle for a little over 2 years.

On several occasions, while driving between 30 - 70 miles per hour - car goes into neutral by itself leaving you trying to steer the car to the side of the road under multiple risky situations. When pulled over - car can be put into park but if your foot is on the brake pedal the car sputters and won't shut off until brake pedal is released. You can still steer the car to the side of the road but no acceleration is possible. Restarting the car isn't possible for about 20 - 30 minutes. Most occurrence have happened on the interstate. There are no warning signs prior to the occurrences and it's extremely scary trying to get to safety. Diagnostics have been completed by Jeep dealerships and other repair shops and it's been stated all recalls have been made to this car in the past. The fact the car goes into neutral itself is scary. The most recent event puts the total of occurrences at 15 since I have owned the car. No one seems to have an explanation --all I know is its very dangerous especially on the freeway. I would like to know what can be done to get this resolved before someone get hurt.

Their is oil being introduced into the coolant reservoirs. Jeep Grand Cherokee Ecodiesel. The vehicle are having failed oil coolers that stemmed from the failed EGR coolers. The driving of these vehicles for over a year awaiting a fix has caused the engines to have other failures. There has been over 10 recalls on these Ecodiesels since I bought the jeep brand new in 2014. They made a deal with the EPA lawsuit and did a software patch which changed the engine function issues, they did a patch on the power train control module, transmission control module, and apparently the ECM engine control module. I-??ve had nothing but -??check engine-?? light codes in since the first patch in 2016 that they didn-??t put in the records, I have the work order showing the patch. In 2019 the lawsuit the EPA approved for them, allowed them to place a new patch that caused other components to continue to malfunction like the-?? high pressure fuel pump now. The dealerships are saying the failures aren-??t due to their negligence and are causing consumers to deal with costly repairs that-??s not their faults. I got a bill for $29,000 for a new engine, they said my jeep was under extended warranty but don-??t want to help foot the repairs. Also stated they would reimburse recall work that customers paid for prior to recalls coming out within 60 days, but it has taken me over 4 years to try and get reimbursed. My car is at the dealership now and has been down since April 29, 2022.

The right cylinder head is misfiring and needs repair. NHTSA previously investigated complaints on the left cylinder head. MOPAR issued a warranty bulletin (D-14-12) on June 10, 2014 for 2011 - 2013 model vehicles for left cylinder head extended warranty coverage period of 10 years/150K miles. Upon my further investigation, the cylinder heads misfiring is a known issue on model years beyond 2013, yet Mopar has not issued an extended warranty bulletin. The cost to repair it is thousands of dollars. My model year 2014 was manufactured in 2013. If this is not repaired, it will do permanent damage to the catalytic converter, and beyond. The dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed malfunction. No prior warnings given prior to cylinder head misfire, when it happened the Check Engine Light came on.

The lower radiator hose clamp failed due to corrosion. This resulted in a loss of coolant which could lead to engine damage or complete failure. There was no indication that eh cooling system was leaking other than the loss of fluid in the coolant overflow tank. This type of spring clamp is used on many vehicles and in 40 years of working on cars have never seen one fail in this manner. Many otehr vehicles may use this clamp and I am sure it has been affected by weather here in the NE.

Engine oil cooler (OEM part number ) 68525212AA failed. Causing significant power loss on freeway. Had to immediately pull over on freeway with no warning. Oil temp causes car to have significant power loss and extremely unresponsive engine also while on freeway causing me to slow well below suggested speed and speed of traffic. The steam caused by coolant loss onto side of engine made it difficult to see out window. Also the temps got so hot that it burnt some heat shielding on a upper hose on engine and the engine padding melted to the top of the engine. it has been inspected by a professional mechanic and replacement of failed part will be installed by the dealership after part is available. Currently on back order. No warning lamps came on prior to engine power loss after my family pulled over the temperature gauge responded. After looking through the digital gauges the you can switch through - (however are not displayed while driving and cannot be switched while in motion.) the oil temp had been maxed out and maxed out prior to the coolant temp increasing above normal levels.

I was driving home and my Jeep started making a weird noise and then a warning popped up about battery voltage I was really confused so I pulled over popped the hood it looked fine but just in case I decided I would go to the nearest VIP which was probably 5 miles from where I had pulled over maybe even shorter. As Im driving over there my Jeep starts smoking so I pull into VIP and pop the hood we look at it and my alternator is smoking so we pour some water on it to cool it down. After doing that a little bit and it stopped smoking as bad we let it sit. A couple minutes later the alternator catches on fire so kept pouring water on it till it completely went out and stopped smoking.

I was driving my 2014 Grand Cherokee probably going 25mph the first time it happened. My Jeeps dash started blinking and popping up warning signs and then all of a sudden the Jeep comes to a fast stop and the engine completely killed. Everything locked up. My brakes, my shifter, my gas pedal everything locked, no screens were turning on and it wouldnt let me turn the Jeep back on for a couple minutes. When I turned it back on it was fine. A couple days later it did it again and again but I was going 40mph. Dropped off at the dealer told them to keep it till they found the problem. It was there 2 weeks didnt do it again. Hasnt done it since but Im still afraid its going to happen again but ill be on the highway.

This has happened three (3) times to me. The instrument cluster on my 2014 jeep Grand Cherokee just blackouts and the windshield wipers go on, then multiple cluster warning lights illumination and a loss of anti-lock brake system (ABS) / electronic stability control system function stops. The vehicle slows down because of loss of power. A loss of instrument cluster illumination and/or loss of ABS function while driving could cause a crash.
