I have had to replace the power window regulator on both back passenger windows TWICE! Each time the repair has lasted just over a year, and therefore no longer warrantied. A problem that should rarely happen has now happened to me FOUR TIMES! My vehicle is 6 years old, under 75,000 miles and otherwise excellent condition. I can't believe this is a continuing problem and will not buy another Jeep because of it.

Liberty Limited 6 cyl 3.7L

I bought a Jeep because I thought I was getting a solid, real SUV with plenty of power. Comfort things that came with the Limited weren't all bad. Especially since this is my wife's car.

I have realized lately that I bought a piece of junk Chrysler dressed in a Jeep outfit.

The piece of plastic that connects the flexible shaft to the rear driver side window broke. Close examination shows a very poor design by most engineering standards.

Any body has a good OEM source for this assembly?

Both rear windows are broke, same annoying little plastic piece that breaks off inside the door connecting the drive arm to the power window regulator. This is the 3rd time the passenger rear window broke and the first for the drivers rear window. The first time the passenger rear window broke it was $300 to fix from the dealer. 10 months later, same thing, dealer fixed it for $150 after heated discussion. I just taped the window up at this point, I'm not paying another $300-600 to fix both windows. I was hoping to find a recall, but no luck so far!!!

OMG - I am so over Jeep window problems. Both of my rear windows are taped up (from the inside, don't want to look hooptie-ish) because the piece of crap plastic piece has broken AGAIN! This will be the 3th and 4th time I have to a window fixed, the SECOND time for the same window - all for the same problem. My 2000 Cherokee had the same problem twice. We are in a recession so I have myself on a cash hold but I guess I'll have to break down and get them fixed soon. Tape does not hold up well in TN summer humidity...

That said, no major problems with my Jeep at all.

This is the sixth and seventh (two windows at once this time, joy for me) friggin window regulator problem I have had in 3 years of owning this damn car. I know this is incredibly common and yet never has Jeep made a recall and it is not covered under warranty and they always seem to break again almost exactly 6mos and 1 day after the last replacement (this is significant because if they broke before that, the dealership would fix at no cost). No one should buy one of these annoying pos. In fairness, no drivetrain issues or suchlike. Just a really annoying repetitive problem that is never actually fixed.

I was pissed when I had problems with my rear left window in Aug. 08', now in Feb. 09, my right rear window has stopped working. We take this vehicle everywhere and on trips and now when its too hot, or i have to run the AC and I hate it. It's frustrating because I have dogs that love to put heads out in summer and it's just an inconvenience and annoyance. Jeep needs to do something about this with so many defective vehicles, after researching the problem, I found MANY people with the similar issue. I always said I would always own a Jeep, now I don't know.

2003 Jeep Liberty Passenger Side Rear window regulator broke. Plastic clip connecting cable to window lift plate broken. Motor functions fine. Having trouble finding regulator assembly as an aftermarket part. Wondering if Jeep has an improved replacement. I am seeing now that that broken window regulators are a very common problem on Jeeps.

The right rear door window went down on its own and after removing the panel and moisture barrier, I found that the cable had ran out of the regulator. The window is currently held up by a length of wood cable tied to the rail just below the piece that the window attaches to,

I know better than call the dealer on this one as I don't want my wallet to get raped. I'm going to order the regulator and do it my self.

I bought this Jeep when it was a year old with 35500 mileage. Didn't have it a month or two when the rear drivers side window dropped. Mileage was right under the wire with 35992 on odometer so the dealer fixed it.... Here we are a year later same window with the same problem, the Jeep was all locked up with the back window down ?? I won't know if the dealer will cover it yet but I did purchase the 3 year extended warranty. Monday will tell me if it will be repaired or if I need a role of duct tape to hold the window in place for now while an attorney looks at this problem under the lemon law.

I have a friend with a Jeep that has had this same problem 4 times now, the last wasn't covered by warranty and came with a price tag of $450! The dealer told her that it was to bad and there wasn't recalls now or up coming.

Passenger side rear window was first to break, then about a month later the driver side rear window broke. had both fixed at the same time at the dealership at a cost of 615 dollars. Rear windows are rarely used but both broke. Then on 06/27/08 the passenger side rear window broke AGAIN.

The passenger side rear window motor broke. This assembly was replaced just over a year ago. Seems to be a problem that the windows that are used so little break so often.

After 2 1/2 years the passenger rear window motor failed, 3 months later the driver side passenger window motor failed and now another 11 months later the passenger rear window failed. They are a piece of junk. I don't even use these windows as I don't have kids and almost never have back seat passengers. If these doors are even opened 3 times a week that is a lot. And when they've failed it has always been driving down the road. Once they fail there is no way to secure your car and the stuff inside. One time this happened in Atlanta and they ripped me off at the dealership for the repair vs. at home in TN and they were rude on top of it. I had already sworn off buying another Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge product anyway and this confirms my feeling. Chrysler Financial is the devil to work with and that is when you pay off your 0% interest loan early. They yell at you and accuse you of lying. No wonder the company is going down!
