On February 21st 2012 I was driving to work. I lost complete control of my vehicle and went down a steep ditch and crashed into a tree. My air bag did not deploy. My vehicle was declared a total loss. Now I have received a recall, saying a control arm could break and cause loss of vehicle control and cause a crash.

The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Liberty. While driving approximately 30 mph in snow and icy weather, the vehicle began to slide and the contact was unable to control the vehicle. The contact drove over an embankment and crashed into a tree. The contact sustained injuries to the left leg, knee, left shoulder and right breast. A passenger sustained injuries to the neck and stomach. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The entire front end of the vehicle was moderately damaged. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 65,000. Updated 03/29/11

: the contact stated when applying brake pressure the vehicle lurched forward. When attempting to make a low speed stop at a stop sign, the vehicle suddenly accelerated into traffic. The vehicle continued to accelerate even though brake pressure was applied. The vehicle struck a culvert, rolled 3 times and eventually came to a stop along the embankment. The contact was extracted from the vehicle by emergency services. Although the contact was wearing a seat belt, minor injuries were sustained. Upon initial impact, the seat belt released from the buckle assembly and the air bag did not deploy. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was deemed totaled by the insurance adjustor.

In one car roll over accident, side airbags did not deploy, even when vehicle slammed on the ground with enough force to have the 2004 Jeep Liberty limited to pop back up on it's tires.

Ltr fm charles blackley (va) owner of a 2004 Jeep Liberty airbag which automatically turns off. Writer question how to reactivate airbag re: Safety reply to the richmond, va district ofc dot #2004-4081. The passenger air bag turnedd off when the consumer's 106lb wife sat in the seat.

While driving at 25 mph, the driver side air bag deployed for no logical reason. The consumer lost control of the vehicle and collided with an embankment. The vehicle never ran over anything or hit anything before the mishap. The consumer suffered a sprained wrist, a concussion and trauma to his back. The consumer also reported that before the air bag deployed, that electrical currents from the steering wheel were shocking who ever drove the vehicle. This electrical shock has happened on three different occasions and the dealer has tried to find the source. The manufacturer and the dealer were aware problem. Headlights go out intermittently, dealer replaced switch.
