I recently purchased a 2005 Jeep Liberty and have found that it does not stop when full when I add gas. I've had to refill the car about 5 times since I've had the vehicle and it overflows every single time, splashing on the ground and onto me, creating dangerous puddles and a fire hazard to everyone around. It doesn't automatically shut off like all other cars do but completely bypasses the safety shut off like it should when its nearing full. I've researched this online and there are hundreds of other Jeep owners who have this exact problem but there is no official recall from Jeep about it. It not only affects Jeep Liberty but Wrangler and tj and appears to happen from 2003 models and up.

Starting back in August and continuing to this date, every time I put fuel into the Jeep it splashes out of the gas tank when full. Not just a little splash either! it pours out of the gas tank and down the side of the Jeep every time. I can somewhat control the splash by clicking off the gas pump handle at intermediate intervals and then going very slowly to put the last 2 to 3 gallons of gas in the tank, but this doesn't always work. When the tank is almost full it will start to spew out.

Gasoline spills out of the vehicle's fuel filler neck upon completion of a full tank refilling. Initially, this seemed to occur intermittently without regard to gas station or particular fuel pump. Now at 114,000 miles, this happens at every fill up.

When I fuel up my 2005 Jeep Liberty there is no auto stop for gas fill up. If I try to fill tank all the way up the gas will squirt back at me, covering my vehicle, my clothing and my skin, seems very dangerous to drive after covered in gas. Iv only owned the Jeep a few months and this has happened many times, im very afraid to "top off" my tank and therefore my mpg is terrible, seems many people also have this issue, why has this not been a recall, seems to be a manufacture problem, with gas prices these days and all the wasted gas due to this problem its also an expensive issue as well as dangerous.
