This complaint is in reference to my 2005 Jeep Liberty (VIN#1J4gl48K6 5wxxxxxx ). my wife, with our newborn baby on-board, was driving this vehicle on a dry, asphalt surface when she experienced a period of steering loss, causing her to drive off of the roadway. I investigated this issue and was surprised to find that there had been a recall on lower ball joints for this vehicle. The date of this recall was September 6, 2006. I have never received a notice of this from either the manufacturer (Chrysler Jeep) or my dealer. This is negligence and could have resulted in a crash.

: the contact stated the tires wore out prematurely. There was a vibration from the front end and the vehicle pulled to the right at high speeds of 85 mph. An independent repair shop determined the lower ball joints had worn out at only 18,000 miles. There was a NHTSA recall, # 06V288000, regarding the suspension: Front: Control arm: Lower ball joint. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. Updated 12/1/2006 - the lower ball joints were replaced by the dealer but the vibration continued. The tires were replaced 18000 miles due to cupping. The dealer continues to look for the cause of the vibration.
