My complaint is actually about NHTSA! in June of 2013, NHTSA petitioned Chrysler to recall (recall number N46) Jeep Liberty vehicles including model years 2002 - 2007. According to Chrysler customer service, my 2006 Jeep Liberty is included. Apparently, there is a risk of fuel tank puncture, and subsequent fire in the case of rear-end collision. Chrysler, after initially refusing to issue the recall, caved in to NHTSA pressure. When I spoke with Chrysler today, five months after they agreed to the recall, they indicated that they are waiting on NHTSA reviews and approval of Chrysler's recall proposal to install a trailer hitch in under-equipped vehicles, in order to strengthen the rear end of the vehicle and prevent gas tank punctures in the event of a low-speed rear-end collision. It seems counter intuitive that NHTSA would pressure a manufacturer to issue a recall, and then hold up the process of repairing affected vehicles when the manufacturer finally agrees. If this alleged vehicle defect actually presents a safety hazard, why allow five months to pass without action?

I called Chrysler (800-247-9753) and spoke to [xxx] about NHTSA reference #13V252000; gas tank assembly recall and was told my vehicle. She told me my 2006 was not on their list for recall. I gave her the last 8 digits of my VIN and she said it was not on the recall. I referenced the NHTSA number and was told the same thing. I told her I am the only owner of the vehicle and purchased it from barnett Chrysler/Jeep, white bear lake, mn in Mar 2007. Again I was told my VIN is not on recall. I asked how that could be; the gas tanks were not placed in different locations depending on the vehicle. They are placed in the same location on the vehicle. When I asked why my vehicle is not on the list, all I was told is the VIN isn't listed. I was told it would be corrected with a tow hitch; which I do not currently have. I would like to know where I can go to file a further complaint about how this is being handled and why I cannot get any definite answers to my questions. The consumer stated the window has been replaced five times within the last four months, in addition, to the previous 11-12 replacements in 2007. The consumer stated using the same defective parts was not going to fix the problem. Also, when the windows were down, there was a thumping and wind noise, that was unbearable. The consumer stated things were stolen out of his vehicle, because the windows would not go up. Also there was a noise coming from the rear of the vehicle and the doors would vibrate when the windows were down.

During these seven years the system are broken crystals have arranged more than twice per glass and still the same problem will fall by itself or during these driving parked I understand it's a manufacturing problem since the warranty is running out continues with the same problem I understand it is a failure of the material that made ??the system that is not usual is the same piece that holds the glass is its position to raise or lower by the electrical system and the engine is still working but can not do anything to take it to the dealer to tell you which is the system that is broken rails I understand that should change the material that is manufactured or seek a permanent solution.

My mother bought a used 2006 Jeep Liberty has never had a problem, so in March of 2010 me and my husband decided to purchase a used 2006 Jeep Liberty from a trusty car dealer. Within 2 months of having this Jeep our right rear window dropped into the door as we were driving to a family function. My biggest fear was that 1 of our 3 kids could have been hurt by broken glass. My father repaired the window by wedging a piece of wood between the door and the window. I later called Jeep who told me there was no recall on this Jeep and that they would gladly split the cost with me which only cost $600 per window and they won't warranty because they know it will happen again. I left it alone cause we could not afford this at the time. A few months later in November 2010 the left side rear window slipped, once again my father repaired it at best he could. I finally went online to see what I could do repair the problem myself at a cheaper cost. I came across a web site steigers.com the gentleman who owns this company has created a replacement piece for the broken part and it works great. I replaced it myself with no knowledge of repairing cars. The only hard part was working in such a tight space..thank god my hands are small enough to squeeze in between the door and the window area. The part is about a $100 with shipping and handling and so far seems to have solved the problem it took about an hour to do all the work on 1 window. Thats not our only problem with this lovely vehicle we have also had problems with the fuel spilling out when filling the tank. The tank seems to build pressure or catch air. I don't know all I know is it scared me really bad the first time.and we have also had problems with the esp especially when you hit a turn to hard or hit a big bump. How wonderful a 4X4 vehicle who doesn't like big turns, bumps or snow. And the most expensive part is the broken window..they told me its called a binding crack it happens to all Jeep so don't force your Jeep to do its job..and work.

The window regulator's in my 2006 Jeep Liberty continuously break and the window falls down into the door. There are thousands of complaints of this happening all over the country. This is very unsafe when a child is traveling in the car for the window to just fall into the door. And Chrysler will only replace with another part that will do the same thing in 6 months.
