The vehicle left the bottom ball joint front driver side. Because of this split the wheel and tire. They stride the direction and lost control of the vehicle. The service dealer in puerto rico informs me that the vehicle has no recalls and it is out of warranty, but usa has passed this same incident.

The dealer stated that the parts were not available and they would call the contact when the part came in. Three months after receiving the recall notice the vehicle still had not been remedied and the parts were still not available. The failure mileage was 84,000.

I was driving to work on the 101 (a major L.a. freeway) and all of the sudden felt my car collapse onto the passenger tire. I struggled to remain in my line, and had tremendous difficulty steering and wasn't able to brake as easily. I flew across three lanes of rush hour traffic and almost hit a wall. When I exited my vehicle I found that my lower ball joint had broken, causing my tire to explode.

There were no injuries and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer stated that the failure was due to driver error. Through internet research, the contact discovered two recalls that may pertain to the failure (NHTSA campaign id numbers 06V493000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock:control unit/module ) and 06V341000 (power train:automatic transmission). He took this information back to the dealer and they informed him to call NHTSA and file a complaint. The failure mileage was 6,193 and current mileage was 7,055. Updated 7/3/08 the consumers son was driving, when all of a sudden, the right front tire blew out. The dealer replaced the lower control arm, steering knuckle, ball joints and the inner and outer tie rod ends. Updated 07/03/08
