I purchased a 2007 Jeep Liberty in 2008. In October 2009, the window regulator (the control mechanism that allows my window to go up or down) on my rear driver side window broke. I had it diagnosed by the car dealer I purchased the vehicle from who wired the base of the window to the door frame temporarily to protect the interior from the elements. My warranty expired because I was over on the mileage. I took it to charlies in augusta, Maine who stated it is not on recall, therefore I would be required to have them diagnose the problem for a fee before they would fix it. Then the repair would cost approximately $300. Then in December, 2009 the front driver side window regulator broke. Again, the car dealer I purchased the vehicle from wired the base of the window to the door frame, as it was snowing outside, to protect the interior from the elements. I spoke with an employee at newcastle Chrysler who stated they have redesigned the regulator and window because of the problem and not only the regulator, but the glass would need to be replaced as well at a cost of $357. I am told I cannot inspect my vehicle, because of the front window not operating properly, that it is a safety issue. I consider the rear window to be a safety issue as well. If a child were in a child seat in the back seat and the window does not work properly, it could become hazardous. This issue is regarding my Jeep Liberty '07 window regulator. Driving from work and I decided to open my rear passenger window and it made a cracking noise. I immediately stopped the button from opening the window further. I tried to close it again but it is just stuck there. This is the 3rd time that I had this problem and always that same window. The prior event was when it just stopped moving and a few seconds after that the glass window just dropped inside the door.

The two regulators are broken in the two back windows of my 2007 Jeep Liberty. I had the car about 4 months when the first one broke. The last one broke about 6 months later. Also, the driver's side window comes off track and when the dealership I bought it from was open they told me that the new ones they put in does the same thing.

2007 Jeep Liberty - the manufacturer redesigned the window regulator, knowing full well it was faulty. I am now being told by Liberty owners & local auto mechanics that this is a common defect with this Jeep. When I went to reorder the rotary I was told that I had no other option but to order the newly redesigned version and that version required a window replacement & a label that indicated the window & regulator had been replaced. The total cost is $423. I am a single girl on a tight budget and I bought this Jeep 3 months ago, not realizing that all of my regulators would break. To date, my driver regulator and my left passenger side regulator have broke. I'm looking at $846 to fix this and I believe this manufacturer should have recalled this part. I am going to file a law suit as well. I do not have the money to replace these windows; so I've been duct taping them shut. The duct tape only lasts for a week, so in between, I find myself trying to hold the window up while I'm driving, so it doesn't fall and smash inside the panel, until I can get to my home and put new tape on it. This is absolutely ridiculous that the manufacturer knows the glass will shatter, that's why you have to replace the window and yet no recall? please government officials get involved with this one and hold this manufacture responsible!!!

Window regulator is faulty in 2007 Jeep Liberty. According to the Jeep dealer, the regulator has been redesigned, but the owner is responsible for all replacement costs. The window can be slid up and down by anyone inside or outside of vehicle including children (my 3 year-old did it from her car seat). There is a theft consequence and also a consequence with children next to these windows that can and have failed.

Defect in the track of all four windows. Part has come off of three tracks on Jeep Liberty windows, causing all 3 windows to fall down. All now have to be taped up. This is a safety issue/hazard as anyone could easily break into car without breaking windows or picking locks. It also impairs vision on drivers door because of being taped to stay up.

My car was parked overnight and the next morning, my driver side front window was all the way down even though I had left it up. 2 days later, after I finished work, I went to my car in the parking lot and my rear driver side window was all the way down and wouldn't roll back up( again, I had left it in the up position) these are power windows. Apparently the window regulators malfunctioned and broke even though they were under no stress.( I almost never use my rear driver side window). After researching online, this problem is apparently prevalent for 2007 Jeep Liberty's. the problem with this malfunction is that it left the valuables in my car unsecured and I was lucky that they were still there when I got to my car. The more serious problem is that if the windows drop while driving on the freeway, it could startle a driver and make them think they were hit by another vehicle or object causing loss of control of the vehicle. Please look into this matter as it truly is rampant for most Jeep Liberty 2007 owners. Thank you.

Right rear passenger window regulator broke on its own and had to be taped up for 6 weeks while a replacement part, that was on back order, finally arrived. Four months later the right front window regulator broke on its own. No one was in the SUV when it let the window drop open. The part for this window took only five days to reach the dealership and the very day that it was replaced the drivers side rear window regulator let the window drop and I could not get it to come back up. Finally used a pair of needlenose pliers to get hold of it and then tape it up. Of course, the dealership does not have this part in stock. This is simply a joke and the fact that Jeep has not had a recall on these window regulators should be a crime. The vehicle is a 2007 Jeep Liberty limited that had a sticker price of $25,000. So much for american made quality.

In 2007 Jeep Liberty, the power window regulator breaks causing the window to drop open. This has happened 4 times on my vehicle within the last year. This could be hazardous if it happened during a storm or in other situations where safety demands the window remain closed. The last time it happened, we were just driving down the highway. No one was touching the window controls and suddenly the window began to drop slowly. The time before, the window dropped suddenly and quickly. Again, no one was operating the controls at that time.

Problem: Rear passenger side power window is non-operational. First, it was 3 inches open and now it has slipped into door panel. Failure: Rear passenger window won't go up or down. It's presently in down/open position. Correction: Will take to Chrysler dealership for repair. "if the parts are available." So said the technician. Internet search reveals this is a very common problem...some drivers reported as many as 4 repairs to 1 window. Repair cost is upwards to $500. Frustrating....I don't have $500 to spend on faulty equipment. Because of the # of situations I read, my broken window is hardly a fluke. Please do something!!! retired teacher/counselor who thought Jeep were top-notch in every way.

Component: Visibility:power window devices and controls details: The window regulator in my Jeep goes out it is a manufacturer defect in the making of the vehicle, it has already happened to my vehicle 3 times in 8 months and GM refuses to recall it. It is a safety issue because the window just fall out of trac K. cost is not affordable each time @ $500 to fix it. Also the fix is total replacement of parts and window glass because the window glass will not fit the new parts? um then maybe it should be recalled because they know if it is fixed with the same parts it will not stay fixed!!!!!!!

My wife's 2007 Jeep Liberty window regulators on both rear passenger windows broke within 2 weeks of each other. When they did, there was a loud noise then the window dropped. The vehicle is out of warranty. The incidents almost caused my wife to wreck because the noise startled her to the point she thought someone had hit her. Jeep needs to be forced to correct this problem.

Left a shopping center when it was about 86 deg outside, and then proceeded to enter the highway, got up to 68mph, and all of a sudden my right rear window dropped into the door, and scared the'!@#$% out of me, as I almost swerved thinking that I was hit. My main concern is that a window is sort of a safety net from the outside world. Well this is the fifth (5th) time that my window regulator has failed on all doors, and the car is a 2007 Jeep Liberty with 37K miles on it. On three (3) of the occasions, the doors were stuck shut, due to some cable being loose. I had to go to the dealer and have the doors taken off and repaired, and put back on. And that is when I began thinking, what if I was in an accident, and the window regulator's cable snapped locking the door. Would I be able to get out of the car, most likely not.

My window regulators in my 07 Jeep Liberty have had to be replaced 2 times in a 3 months period and my Jeep is only 3 years old. I was driving in town and it was raining. I had just left a drivethru window of a fast food place and had 2 friends in the back seat. After we left the drive through and was driving down the road my rear window just fell after it was rolled and my friend got her food, and he window was unable to be rolled up. My friend was getting wet and I was so distracted by the whole thing I almost wrecked. I have read numerous complaints from other having the exact same problems. The dealer fixes it and it continues to need yet another repair because they are not able to effectively fix the problem. The problem is in the design of the window regulator and it will only be a temporary fix and will break yet again and need another repair until a new better design is provided. The vehicle needs to be recalled and the window regulators need to be updated with a better design. A vehicle can get stolen because the window is malfuctioning and won't roll up.all sorts of other horrible things can happen too. Children or infants can have too much blow air in their face and suffocate because the window is broken. I don't feel Chrysler should wait around for a tragedy to happen before they recall the Jeep Liberty's and fix these window problems.
