Renegade

The transmission randomly started having problems one day. The car will randomly start losing speed and gradually slows down till it won't move anymore. Or sometimes it keeps going but it feels like it's being forced to keep moving. This happens randomly with no warning at all. The message on the dashboard says service transmission or service engine which I've done but the problem started again soon after. Feels very unsafe to have the car on the road and yet it's my only means of transportation. I've taken the car to a dealership and had it looked at. Was told the problem had something to do with a code and that the problem should be gone now but as I mentioned it returned not long after.

2018 Jeep Renegade (2.4L) automatic 4cyl 2wd with under 20,000 miles at the time it first started seizing up mid-drive, back in October. The vehicle spontaneously shut off in the middle of the street. I almost died! I took it to the Dodge Chrysler dealership after that, and I was told that there was a computer software issue that was supposedly reset but here we are months later and it happened again where the engine seized and I was stalled in the middle of a busy road! my passenger and I are lucky to even be alive after that incident! I noticed that the low oil-pressure light comes on for a half-second when turning a hard corner then goes away. After looking up to see that there is a "current campaign for repairs" I have scheduled an emergency appointment with the dealership service department (why not a recall? this situation is dangerous!) from my research based on information from several sources, it looks like updating/reprogramming the PCM software is not enough to fix the oil consumption issue. This is a faulty engine issue and I need my engine to be replaced to ensure my personal safety in a vehicle that I have owned for less than a year. I have gone into debt just to buy the vehicle, the least Dodge Chrysler Jeep can do is ensure the quality of the product I purchased. The lives of many people are at risk, here. I've read the details of the class action lawsuit.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving and coming to a sudden stop or going around a curve, the vehicle independently shut-off without warning. The vehicle was restarted and drove normally. The vehicle was taken to friendship Chrysler Dodge Jeep (190 oak street extension, forest city, nc 28043) but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,410.

Purchased vehicle July 2019. Today I was making a right hand turn and the D light started blinking and the car just shut off. I was on a hwy rd with heavy traffic. It took a couple tries and the car finally started back up. I just found out that the vehicle I have has a motor that has a serious problem with oil issues and Jeep not fixing it, they're just telling the consumer to just keep putting oil in it. This is unacceptable considering how much I pay a month. These motors need to be replaced before someone gets killed. I put my VIN number in and it says no recalls. There needs to be one asap. Now that M scared to drive my vehicle.

The car dies while driving it. If you stop at a light, it dies. Then again after you restart and move up a few car lengths. Once it died while actually in motion!! apparently, the oil pressure gets low B/C the engine(2.4) uses all of the oil within or less than 2 months time after an oil change. There is a recall on this 2.4 engine, as of 12/10/20 I am told by the dealership, but only on Renegades that have all wheel drive and not front wheel drive such as mine. Not sure what the transmission has to do with a badly designed motor(a rep at the local dealership stated that it was a poorly designed engine that was supposed to use some oil); however, this engine sucks the oil dry in under 2 months time thus making the motor die/stall while driving. This is very dangerous! I have seen posts on forums where people keep telling others to make sure to keep an eye on your oil. Apparently, many people are having issues with this particular 2.4 engine. The oil light only flickers while going around a corner & when you check the oil, it is almost bone dry - if comparing it to a 12 in. Ruler, it might land on the 1st line (of 8 lines) on the way to an inch - just the tip of the dipstick will have a slight amount of oil on it. This started happening within 2 months of purchase - car bought used in June 2020. At first, we thought that they sold us a car and didn't check the oil, but now we know better than that.

A couple of times my Jeep Renegade 2018 stalled when I was driving, said something about low oil pressure when I already did an oil change, also said on the dash that the gear shift wasn't working and slow down and stop, I couldn't imagine if I was on the highway that would've been a bad accident. I safely parked, turned off the vehicle and started back up. Took it last year to the dealership they said that was a safety thing and this year October 30th 2020, I took it to check why it kept saying low oil pressure when the oil is new and I wanted to know if was leaking. They said wasn't leaking, that it was burning oil. That shouldn't be happening that the oil is new and less than a month it says low oil pressure.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact parked the vehicle and later had the vehicle towed to bokan Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (2 franklin park w #2, St albans city, vt 05478) where they diagnosed the vehicle with a defective clutch kit, flywheel, exhaust manifold stud, wheel bearing, and gasket. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 47,052.

The car will stall without any indication that the oil is low. Loss of power also accrues. I almost got hit by a car for losing power. The dealership says its normal for the car to use oil. But never told me when I bought the car I need to check it. This is a huge safety concern.

While driving down the road my Jeep stalled and shut off on several different occasions. I called the dealership and was told the oil was probably low and to bring it in. Sure enough it was not registering on the dipstick. I got my oil changed and less than 2 months later the Jeep stalled out again. I checked the oil and there was none. I called the dealship and I have an appointment today to start an oil consumption test. I drove less than 4,000 miles between oil changes before I broke down again. The Jeep gives no warning or light indication when this happens. I am thankful I was not driving on the highway causing a serious accident. The Jeep is burning through some serious oil.

I bought my Jeep Renegade in August of 2018. Not even a month of driving later (2,000 miles), I was on the side of the highway because the engine stalled and then gave me a low oil pressure warning. When I took the vehicle into the dealership they said it was too early to do an oil change and to come back at 10,000 miles. I had to fill the vehicle with 2 quarts of oil to keep it running. I then ran into the same problem at the 7,000 mile mark where I stalled on the side of the road. The dealership finally did an oil consumption test, and I thought they would see it as a problem that the engine is "consuming" 1 quart per 1,000 miles. However, it is "normal" under the fca guidelines for their engines to consume this amount of oil. I tried to get the dealership to get me out of the vehicle I had just bought, and they told me it wasn't worth very much because it had a bad engine. They would not fix the engine though unless it was consuming more than 1 quart per 1,000 miles. I completed yet another test to find that the oil consumption stayed the same. I was having to fill the oil reservoir in between oil changes in fear that I would stall on the highway again and get hit by a vehicle. There are no warning lights for this issue until after the engine stops. The dealership told me I needed to just check the dipstick everytime I fuel up. This is only a temporary fix as I am filling up with $10 quarts of oil every 1,000 miles and then doing an oil change every 3,000 miles because if I go to the recommended 10,000 miles there will be engine problems. I would like to do my own oil changes, but have been going to the dealership in fear that I would be to blame for the oil consumption issue if I dared to change my own oil. I am currently at 30,000 miles. It appears that Chrysler is avoiding resolving the issue until it comes out of my pocket in 6,000 miles.

I ordered some food and drove to exit of the parking lot and the car stalled completely in the middle of the road. The car didn't flash any lights. The dash repeated for me to put the car in park and press the on button. This wasn't working. I followed its instructions over and over but the car still would not move. When I would press the gas the car engine would get very bumpy despite not moving forward. I finally put it in reverse and it willingly moved backwards without hesitation. However, when put in drive again, the D on the gear selector would flash and I would lose control of the car again. I put the car in neutral and had someone push me out of the middle of the road. I turned off the car. When I turned it on one more time, the Jeep finally started driving like it should. I arrived home and checked the oil and it was not low.

My car is shutting down while driving it. My car just started saying 'low oil pressure' and not even a day later turned off while I was driving it and I was almost rear ended. It did it once more before I was able to get it into the dealership. The dealership told me to do an oil consumption test and bring it back in but I don't think I should have to drive a potentially unsafe car. There is a class action lawsuit against fca from other people experiencing the same problems I am experiencing because fca has known about these issues for years and has done nothing to fix the problem.

I purchased my 2018 Jeep Renegade in Feb of 2019. I had under 5K miles on it and took it on my first road trip. I made it to Colorado and the vehicle stalled while driving at least 12 times. There were no warning lights or anything. I had the vehicle taken to 4 different dealerships and no codes or issues were found. I dealt with fca which was a nightmare, and all they offered was a free warranty. I let them know I dont feel safe in my vehicle multiple times. I then took my vehicle on the first road trip this weekend to lubbock and once again it stalled out 4 times while driving 75 mph. I dropped it off at the dealership yesterday and no issues were found again. There is a safety recall on this vehicle for the exact same issues yet my VIN doesn't fit the recall list. This is unacceptable and I want it fixed immediately. I could die from this vehicle stalling while driving at high speeds. Please get someone to help me.
