  • 5,000 miles
I purchased and have driven a new 2018 Jeep Renegade 2.4 auto since December 2018. I was driving the other day and turned into traffic when unexpectedly the low oil light came on in my vehicle and it completely shut down! total power loss. I was almost demolished by a fully loaded log truck. I parked the car and checked the oil per the instruction manual procedure. It was over 2 qts. Low in 5,000 miles of driving. I have tried multiple times and the Jeep dealership refused to provide me with any repair documents after inspection. They told me the problem is well known but fca is doing nothing to remedy it and their service department was not going to do any further evaluation into the problem.this was not disclosed to me in any way before I purchased the vehicle nor is it mentioned or included at all in the owners/ maintenance manual. In addition I had to pay $85 for an oil change that should not have even been necessary. These vehicles are not safe to drive. I now have to park my nearly new vehicle because I am terrified to drive this car in traffic. They are still selling these things! please make them stop, they are dangerous vehicles to drive.

I had purchased a brand new 2018 Jeep Renegade trailhawk and before it had even reached the appropriate mileage to bring the vehicle in for its first standard service, I had discovered the engine was burning an excessive amount of oil. The vechile has stalled on me before while the car was in motion and whilst driving on busy highways. I have made multiple complaints with the dealership and made attempts to have the issue corrected (oil consumption test, replacing the PCV valve) and yet the issue still exists. Jeep staff members through the dealership along with members from Jeep headquarters keep attempting to inform me "it's normal, just keep putting oil in it.." I am not satisfied with this response. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. It is not only hazardous to myself as the driver, but also the public when the car does stall.

Bought my Jeep brand new in June 2018. Within the first month, the usb port that connects to car play would connect then disconnect when it rained. Took car to dealership and they said they couldn't identify the issue unless I brought it is when the problem happened and showed them. Which I couldn't because they were always closed when the problem occurred. Within that same month, when I pressed on the brakes it sounded like there was air in the brake line. Every so often, the satellite radio will cut out and say "acquiring signal". car has also stalled out on me 3 times while driving. Twice beforehand, when I made a sharp right turn, the oil light would pop on for literally 2 seconds and go off. Car would stall out and when I checked the dip stick, it showed I had barely any oil. Manual says every 6000 miles. Oil runs out before the 6000 mile mark.if I knew I'd be paying out so much in oil, I wouldn't have paid so much for this stupid truck. Its a complete rip off. One of the times it stalled out, I was making a left hand turn with my children in the car. It stalled out just as I was turning and a car was coming in the opposite direction and almost hit me. There has been nothing but issue after issue with the vehicle to which the dealership would tell me theres nothing wrong with the vehicle when I took it there. Or that they cant fix it uuntil I can reenact the problem for them

Renegade

  • 2,500 miles
My wife has had her Renegade for about 6 months now. We purchased it brand new. A couple weeks after we got it she was driving down the road in town and it started sputtering and shut off under a red light at a busy intersection and about got hit. After a couple minutes it finally started back and was able to get it off the road. Once off the road she let it sit and started it back up and attempted to drive home but it cut off again. We left it over night at the sheriff's dept and got it the next day and drove it to the dealership. We told them what was happening and they kept it for about a week and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. So after driving it for another couple of days it started messing up again. So yet again we took it back to the dealership and they kept it for about a week and said they fixed it. Now after a couple of months its doing the same thing as before and about caused her to get hit. It's back at the dealership so hopefully they will figure it out. But after reading all of the reports from other people I don't have much faith in that. Hopefully Jeep will swallow their pride and recall the vehicles before someone gets killed.

First, speaker keeps going in and out then 12V port was dead. Screen shot off a few times. Hands free access stopped working a few times. Now for the 3rd time (3 different stall outs), the car is shutting off on its own while driving. This last time, it acted like it was in another shift other than drive and when I put it in park it ran rough then just died. Came back on like nothing happened after shutting off and restarting.

I can be driving and the engine will just cut out. Will start again but stops every few minutes. This happened also when I purchased it in October 2018. The dealership had it for two weeks and said there was nothing wrong with it. It finally just stopped stalling on it's own but now it has returned!

Vehicle stalled while pulling out into traffic, another time it didn't start after a few tries vehicle started. Stalled a second and third time but I noticed the oil indicator light came on for a tenth of a second then went out. Returned home and checked the oil level. (vehicle was just in for a 1000 mile courtesy check by the dealer vehicle had 2660 miles on odometer) service manager said everything is ok and we left. Odometer has 2975 miles when this shutting off occurred. When dip stick was read it was reading the very tip of the stick. I added 3 qts. Of manufactures recommended oil and took the vehicle to the dealer to read the codes and ask why I was out of oil with no oil indicator light on. Safety concern is this engine per the service manager is programmed to shut off in the event of a low oil pressure. The issue I have is that you do not get any warning that you have low oil pressure until the engine shuts off and then you really don't know why.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. The contact called tri-county Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (located at 1290 hebron rd, heath, oh 43056, (740) 522-3153) and was informed that the vehicle stalled due to insufficient oil and an appointment needed to be scheduled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where an oil change was performed, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 88513705. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

  • 5,500 miles
I bought a brand new 2018 Jeep Renegade. At approximately 2,500 miles the car would shut off on me while driving. No warning lights came on. It shut off twice while driving straight and twice while making left hand turns. After the first time it shut off, it didn't have the pickup it had before and seemed to sputter. I took it to a Jeep dealership and they said that I was out of oil. They topped it off and sent me on my way. At 5,500 miles my car shut off on me again while driving. This was very scary. It occurred while making a left hand turn at a large intersection. I thought I was going to get hit. Lost all power steering and car took time to restart. Again, the car sputtered after that and turned off a couple of more times before I could get back to dealership. My car is now in for an oil consumption test. I have researched this issue and see that there are many other complaints of the same issue. A brand new car should not be shutting off while driving. This is a safety issue. Some warning light needs to identify there is a problem. Checking the oil every 1,000 miles is unacceptable for a new car. This is very dangerous. Will it take lives lost for action to be taken?

My stalled 3 times in 2 weeks. Twice I was slowing to take a turn-this happened a week apart in the same exact turn. Twice I was driving about 20 mph. This happened on 4-21-19, 4-27-19 and 4-30-19. I have approx 5200 miles. I called Chrysler and they said there were no recalls, that I probably do not need an oil change (she checked on this information). When the light goes on or 7-8,000 miles I should schedule one. No dash indicator lights come on. Each time I am able to guide my car out of traffic. I shut off radio, wipers and all electrical and after I hit to restart it sounds like it is really trying, but it eventually does start. I stalled this morning (5-1-19) and I was almost rear ended as it was so sudden. The car behind me had to swerve. I put on my hazards. I called Chrysler corporate because my dad hears something about the 2.4L engine being recalled. Chrsyler corporate told me to bring it to the dealer and either way should be covered (warranty or added to recall). The dealer had no record of recalls and said I needed an oil change. That is ridiculous that needing an oil change could be such a dangerous thing. I find that hard to believe. I have had this Jeep since Oct 2018. I am very scared now. I commute to boston in the tunnels and on the tobin bridge during busy rush hour. So disappointed these dangerous problems are happening - and so soon after purchasing. My customer care # from my call into Chrysler (fca - Fiat Chrysler automobiles), which they closed even though it wasn't resolved, is 57585393. Called them 4-30-19 also, sometimes when I turn my wheel to take a sharp turn a bell dings one. It has happened about 6 times since owning.

When operating the vehicle, especially on turns, the car will cut out and not accelerate when they accelerator is pushed down. It'll leave a lag and then suddenly engage and take off quickly. It's like a studder but has left me trying to turn across traffic and sit in the same spot, paused and not able to move with oncoming traffic headed for me.

The car is burning through oil around 1 quart for every thousand miles. When the oil is low the car will stall while driving which is dangerous. The car forces oil changes every 4000 miles roughly or the consumer constantly buying a special type of oil that costs more as well. The car will also not go into gear properly when the oil is low.

Purchased new on 23 Feb 2019. I checked the oil level at 500 miles and it was a half quart low. I asked the service department by email about this and the response was oil is serviced at 3000 miles. I again asked if I need to bring it in to be topped off. I have not received a response. When it gets to a quart low I will go to the service department. Should not be using this much oil.

I have a 2018 Jeep Renegade that I first had this problem with at 5000 miles. Took it to dealership, they said they changed oil, and that I had to drive it for 1000 miles, mind you it had been stalling in traffic, if during the 1000 mile test stalling occured to bring it back to service dept. If no stalling occured then I was good. Well after 4000+ miles it happened again this time when I was 300 miles away from home, and in very heavy traffic. Sticker dealership put on my window was for oil change at 10087 miles, I was at 9600. Had car towed by roadside assistance and waited for Monday morning to go to dealership. First dealership literally sent me a text telling me I had to pay $135 diagnosis labor cost up front, while my car is under warranty, I told them not to touch the car and had it towed to another dealer. They also gave me a very hard time, but finally after 5 hours told me it again was "oil consumption" issue, that they would do oil change, and that I am to take it in to dealership at 1000 miles regardless of issue happening again. Oh and they tried charging me $78.25 for oil change, which was quickly changed to 0 by service manager who said I should not be charged anything since my car is under 10000 miles. So what I am supposed to go to dealership every 1000 miles"?" I missed a day of work cause of this.this is completely unacceptable and a huge safety issue.

I have had my car for exactly 3 months..... first thing that went wrong was the trunk hydraulic bar broken and fell off after I opened my trunk. And the big issue.. my car randomly shuts off while I'm driving, it started on the turnpike and then continued on the city streets. I finally was a block from the house and I had coast into my driveway.there is no warning when it happens it just shuts off. When I go to turn it back on it revs up real high and then idles low. My car is 3 months..... only has 3800 miles on it... I didn't pay 29K for a brand new car for it to have to be in the shop because something is already wrong with the engine... this does not reflect well on the Jeep Renegade...

I purchased a 2018 Renegade about 3 weeks ago. Within a week of that problo began with remote starter that had been added prior to purchase that would unlock all the doors whenever vehicle was started using remote starter. I was extremely frustrated as that vehicle had issues from day one and dealer couldn't fix them. No offer from dealership to allow me to return it. So out of frustration I traded it in for a much higher cost vehicle in hopes the issues would be gone with a brand new vehicle of a higher price and package. Not so! from the first day about 2 weeks ago I started experiencing serious problems. Everytime I use the remote starter the vehicle shuts off whether I touch the door handle, unlock vehicle with remote, open door or enter vehicle if the first three methods didn't shut it down. In addition the uconnect 4 w/7" display started locking a week ago and would not let me turn it off, change temperature inside vehicle, even locked out the manual controls of heater/ac temps, fan could not be changed, radio stopped playing. No matter what I tried nothing worked. I had to pull over and shut vehicle off and restart. Within a mile down the road it locked up again and this time same problems with non repsonsive controls as well as the video display began flickering in lower left hand of screen. I waited till I got to my destination and shut vehicle off. When I came out to leave it was somewhat working again. Prior to this issue with uconnect the vehicle had been to dealership twice. First time they claimed they could not replicate 2nd time I was told the remote starter was a known issue since 4/2018 with no known remedy and the radio uconnect system was defective and a new radio was ordered but was backordered with no known date of availability. So I have a very expensive vehicle with just over 1,000 miles with serious and potentially dangerous issues with it.
