06 Jeep Wrangler rubicon tank overflow/splash back when refueling. At every fill up regardless of pump handle style, angle or depth of pump nozzle or station location, a large amount of fuel splashes back at the point when it should cut off. It douses me and my vehicle and the ground with gasoline. Problem began appx 2 years ago at roughly 40K miles and has been continuous to date. No action has been taken to resolve this problem because no specific solution has been found.

1. failure apparent since beginning of ownership. 2. fuel spills out of gas tank upon filling the gas tank in a normal fashion. Failure occurs every time gas tank is filled completely. Gas spills out of tank, over the outside of the vehicle, and on to the ground at the gas pump. 3. no attempts to correct failure at this point.

Fuel spilling at every fill up, from reading on the internet it seems to be a very common problem with Jeep Wrangler. It happens at every fuel station and doesn't matter if the nozzle is half in or totally in.

I have a 2006 unlimited Jeep Wrangler and a couples years ago, while my car was still under warranty, the gas tank started overflowing, the pump did not stop and gas would get all over the car, my clothing, etc. The dealership then replaced the entire gas tank. Recently this problem began again and I had to contact the manufacturer directly and then the dealership to get this fixed. I ended up paying approximately $222 to get a new gas tank again. When I went fill up the car after picking it up from being "supposedly" fixed I realized that it was not fixed and gas was all over my car. It seems as if this is a recurring problem and replacing the gas tank is a short term fix or no fix at all. Needless to say, I have to bring my Wrangler back to the dealership again.

2006 Jeep Wrangler X I recently purchased this vehicle used with 58,000 miles. I discovered a very dangerous condition when filling up with gas. The gas flow to the tank does not properly turn off when the tank becomes full. The first time this happened to me I was sprayed with gasoline on my chest... nearly missing my face. I thought this was a fluke but it happened again the next time I filled up. I've learned to only fill up the tank half way. I did an internet search and found that this is a very common problem with newer Jeep Wrangler. It is also an environmental issue as well because gasoline just travels down the Jeep and into the ground. I have learned through Jeep internet forums that this is a very common issue with Jeep Wrangler. This issue must be addressed by Chrysler through a vehicle recall. There will definitely be deaths/injuries from this if it is not properly addressed by Chrysler.

The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer who stated that the ball flap was stuck in the open position. The vehicle was repaired but the failure continued. The vehicle had not been repaired again. The failure mileage was 20,232.

2006 Jeep Wrangler rubicon - problem started to occur at 49K miles(could have been earlier-I bought the car at this mileage, 2nd owner). Gas would spit/flow out of the fill port before the pump clicks off for full. It always goes on your hands, clothes, floor and down the side of the Jeep. At 52K(currently have 84K) it happens every time now. So now you have to put your ear close to the gas tank and listen for it to become almost full, and stop pumping quickly before it overfills and spits out.(this is the only way to get a full tank) on several occasions, if there is a lot of ambient noise, you will miss the "almost full" sounds and it'll spray gasoline on your face/clothes. I'm sick of dealing with this issue, im out of warranty, so dealer is no help. Also when traveling to NJ, the gas attendants are full serve only by law, and they complain to me every time I need to get gas in NJ. It spits gas all over the attendant. This is a serious safety issue, I get gas on my skin almost every time I'm refueling the Jeep. Chrysler/Jeep needs to do a recall. There are thousands+ of these complaints.

I've been dealing with this problem for 4 years. While fueling, gasoline will overflow without cutting off. Also, it is very difficult to pump a full tank with all of the back pressure caused the neck and gas tank problems. This is very dangerous and needs to be investigated on models later that 2007.

Every time we fill our gas tank it sprays out all over when full. Dealership says we must pay for a new fuel tank to repair this issue. This is a faulty flap inside tank. We will not pay for a new tank since they have the same flap design. This should be recalled.

When filling vehicle with gas, the fuel sprays back out of the gas filler neck once the tank becomes full. There is no way to predict when this will happen, other than simply not filling up the tank anywhere near full.

2006 Jeep Wrangler X, everytime I fill up at the pump gas will rush out of the filler neck. This Wrangler has never been modified and only has 15000 miles on it. Of course this is not only a safety issue for myself, but for others at the pumps next to me as well. Jeep has not given me an answer to the problem, and does not have a recall. Amazing.

My 06 Jeep Wrangler rubicon over flows gas at the pump before the pump clicks off. This will be as I am manually fueling (hand still on pump handle). Comes gushing out causing fuel to be spilt, gas on paint, and the smell of gasoline on clothes when highly pressurized.
