Jeep Wrangler spews gas and vapor when filling the tank using the automatic shut-off feature of the gas pump. I was sprayed with gasoline in my eyes after a fill up. This is very dangerous situation that can result in bodily injury or fire not to mention the environmental issues this spillage creates. This should be a safety recall and Chrysler forced to come up with a fix.

Purchased a 06 Jeep unlimited (lj) with the 4.0 engine. When filling up the gas tank, the tank becomes full and gas then spills out the fill tube. This is everytime you fill up the Jeep. Chrysler says they are aware of the problem but that there is no fix or real concern by them for this problem. My concern is the waste of gas, the environment hazard by spilling gas, the possible damage to my vehicles paint and the potential fire hazard. This has been ongoing since I purchased this Jeep in 05-09. I understand that numerous other Jeep lj's have this same problem and that it has something to do with a weak vent spring.

I have a 2006 Wrangler unlimited rubicon. I have had fuel spilling out at the end of filling up my tank. Went to the dealer and they replaced the tank. That was almost 2 years ago. The issue has since re-appeared. Now that my Jeep is out of warranty I feel it is ridiculous to get another tank at my expense since it did not fix it the first time. I have noticed that many Jeep have the same problem.

I own a 2006 Jeep Wrangler sport and every time I fill up my Jeep I get gas overflow. Regardless of the type of gas, gas station or pump. This problem happens every time I fill up. 1. empty gas tank. Then went to fill said empty tank. 2. Jeep overflows every time I fill the tank. Splashes fuel down the side of the Jeep and onto the ground. 3. I have held the nozzle at different angles and different depths in the fuel tank filler neck but all lead to the same results with no varying in fuel overflow amounts. Mentioned to Jeep dealership, no problem must be my fault, discussed with fellow Jeep owners and searched online all to no avail.

Gas tank overfills during fillup...automatic gas shut off fails and gas spills on the ground (about 1 cup or so each instance). This occurs every time, harming the environment and presenting a fire danger. Other Jeep Wrangler owners on jeepforum.com have the same issue. The fault apparently is the roll over check valve, an integral part of the gas tank. So the fix is to replace the tank. But the faulty part is also replaced in this process.

When filling the gas tank, the gas continually overflows. It makes no difference if the tank is fueling fast or slow. This is dangerous and if you don't remember to stand back your shoes and clothing are saturated.

While driving down a dirt road, the connector that attaches the plastic fuel line coming out of the fuel tank to the metal line that runs to the engine compartment snapped in two, causing the vehicle to stop running fuel to be pumped onto the ground under the Jeep where it stopped. Damage was limited to the component involved, which will have to be replaced.

Gas spills, splatters, shoots violently when tank is full. It occurs every time I fill up at any gas station. Occurs whether I hand control fillup or whether I rely on auto shut off. Hand fillup does seem to reduce the amount of excess gasoline spewing from tank. Gas ends up on my paint, plastic, the fueling station ground, and often my clothing and/or shoes. Very frustrating, concern for fuel sparks.

I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, every time I refuel the Jeep it overflows. The pump will automatically shutoff as it is supposed to do, but then within a second or so fuel will splash out of the tank. I called Jeep corporate and they don't think it is a big deal. Fuel tank nozzle spits fuel out of fuel tank. All over the ground, on vehicle, & on me. It occurs on every fillup at any fuel station. I attempted to insert nozzle head in fully or insert half way. Neither attempt yields positive results.

2006 Jeep Wrangler unlimited 4.0 L when fueling this vehicle, fuel spills out of the filler neck every time. This occurs even when the fuel nozzle is not depressed to full volume. Fuel can slosh several feet from the filler neck. This is a potential safety hazard for several reasons. I have had fuel spilled onto my skin and nearly into my eyes. There is also significant fire hazard due to the pressurized nature and velocity of the fuel coming up the neck. Please investigate, this is a common problem on this make and model. I purchased this Jeep in April 2009 and it has occurred every fill.

2006 Jeep Wrangler spews fuel out the fuel filler neck before the pump cuts off when filling tank. This results in fuel on the side of the vehicle, on the ground, and possibly on the individual filling the tank. It occurs frequently when filling tank, but not 100% of the time. Nothing has been done to correct the problem.

Fuel spills out of the tank when I refuel my 2006 Jeep Wrangler. It started about one month ago, and happens every time. I place the gas nozzle on automatic and the pump will shut off automatically when the tank is full, but gas will come shooting out of the filler neck and spill all over the vehicle and ground. I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler X. when I fill up at the gas station the tank will overflow with no warning and spill gas all over the place. I don't know what causes it but I have tried filling slow, all kinds of positions with the nozzle and nothing works. I think that something is defective in the tank. I fill all my other vehicles at the same gas station with no problems but the Jeep can not be filled up there or any other gas station.
